Well, another way to think about it is that the arm goes weak to signify a

" Yes " response. So by holding an allergic substance the arm is going weak to

say " Yes " you are allergic to it.

--sorry it was on a fertiltiy site-- in reference to fertility--I curt

and pasted and thought I'd cut that part out. Ask Jeeves brought me to several

places...all talked about pints of blood...how many people I don;t know

I think this type of thing just shows once again why everyone should take what

is read on the internet with a grain of

salt. I would like to point out that it's general netiquette that if a

reference is posted on a list that the link or

reference information is posted also.

Don't get mad at me now, but I thought I'd throw in my two cents. I think

what Ursula was trying to express is that when you cut and paste something, you

are supposed to show where it is from so that the reader can decide how much

merit to give the information (it is from " Medscape.com " or " Bob's Bait, Tackle

&

AIDS Paranoia Site " ). If you know the credentials of the person making the

original comment ( " Immunologist and Researcher " as opposed to " Glue-Sniffing

Goofball " ), you can decide what, if anything, to take from the comment. I'm sure

we all know people who think they know everything about everything and have a

comment on every subject (I have one in-law and one close friend like that!).

You wouldn't want to pass along everything they say as gospel! And I would

say Especially when it involves medical issues and children. In this case, the

information that was posted was very inflammatory, it was not info that related

to IVIG usage in PID, so it was wrong as it related to PIDs and just plain

scary.

The reason for the " nettiquette " is to try to help us NOT pass along

information from some random guy who is sitting in his underwear in his basement

commenting on everything he reads on Ask Jeeves. With no medical background, I'm

sure. That posting from " Ask Jeeves " was probably very upsetting to newly

diagnosed parents who are considering treatment. As if PIDs aren't scary enough,

they see this " information " on how it supposedly can give you AIDS!!!???? No. We

have to be careful what we pass along for the sake and sanity of others!

And Patty if you're still here, I read the " self serving " comment as being

aimed at the fella making the comments on Ask Jeeves, not at you.

And all my disparaging remarks here are aimed at the Ask Jeeves post-er, not

anyone here!

Ahem!

I have a question, but it is about bipolar disorder.

Is there a way to find out if someone has biopolar disorder? Maybe a

special test?

I think you're evaluated thru psychological testing.
