Guest guest Posted May 9, 2001 Report Share Posted May 9, 2001 Hello everyone, I have just found out that May 12 is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia Awareness Day! Now, what I'd like to know - does anyone know if there is a Charcot Marie Tooth Disease Awareness Day and/or how do we go about getting one? I know July is the Federally declared Month of the Disabled, so I would think maybe a day in July might work - but does anyone know how to go about this? I went looking on the net, and I found some information on how the Fibromyalgia day is set up. The Fibromyalgia Awareness Day is publicized primarily on the local level, with local events and with requests to mayors to have May 12 (or a day that same week) proclaimed as fibromyalgia awareness day (such proclamations generally include some sort of public ceremony). I think setting up a CMT Awareness Day along similar lines is quite possible, and I'm getting a number of ideas for how to get the ball rolling... Let me know what you think... It seems to me that many of this national recognition " days " are created by bills introduced in Congress. I've seen something about this somewhere in the past. (LOL - I know THAT'S a lot of help...) But I think if you or someone works with a local congressional rep you can get the ball rolling.
