Hi Roxann, wecome to the group. I was on treatment in 2002. Spent 48 weeks on treatment & tested clear 4 months into treatment. As of last year, I was still clear. There is a few of us in this group that treatment worked. Some who couldn't tolerate it & others it didn't work or relapset. I hope you find us helpofull. Right now there hasn't been much posted. But we will do our best to help you. TerryRoxann <ownyourlife@...> wrote: I'm new to this group - to any group for

Added some botanical supplements to my diet including coQ10 and omega 3's. My blood work has continued to look better and better over the years; viral load down and enzymes down to almost normal.Got my biopsy results back 2 weeks ago and was told I'm no longer a candidate for treatment. My liver function is normal for a person of my age.Has anyone else had this experience? The only people I've spoken to (including my husband) have tried treatment with varying degrees of success; or couldn't tolerate treatment; or have continued to get worse.Would appreciate any sharing of experience and thanks to you all for the support!

I know

early when the combo first came out, they didn’t recommend it for anyone

who didn’t have elevated liver enzymes, they were not considered

candidates for the treatment. They also recommended monotherapy (no ribavarin,

just the interferon) and only used the combo for those unsuccessful on the monotherapy.

These stands were both changed, because the combo therapy was so much more

successful than the other. My liver enzymes were elevated, and looking

back, I found that they had been elevated as far back as I had records. Anyway,

between the time I was dx and I prepared for treatment (several months) I was

using some herbal products, milk thistle, burdock root… My liver enzymes

came down quite a bit. I elected to go through the treatment and have

been undetectable since 2001. There are differing opinions, depending on your

doctor, I think. I tolerated the treatment reasonably well, it was no picnic,

but for me, I think it was the right choice.

Hi, Everyone; it's Sue and guide dog gidget again.

I am so terrible about posting to the list, but I do read it all.

Roxanne's post caught my attention. She mentioned using mega 3's. greg, as some

of you know, is my husband. he did the 48 weeks of treatment in 2003. For six

months, tested kept showing he was fine. then, in June of 2004, it all came

back. But, since he has been using milk thistle daily, a mass in his liver

disappeared. This was being monitored every three months with ultrasounds and

biopsies. he has continued the milk thistle and has stopped eating a lot of ice

cream, and so far, so good with liver function. I would like to know if omega 3

would be good for him. I break the gel caps open and pour the oil on my guide

dog's food and it sure helps her skin and coat, but not sure what it'd do for

the liver.

Allf of us here are doing ok. I am still working and loving it; able to buy a

sleep number bed for us and a fabulous massage chair which has helped Greg a

lot.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Feel free to write off list if you so desire.

Take care.

Hugs and wags,

sue and Gidget

Hello Everyone - first, let me thank all that responded. I really

appreciate the input. Nice to get to meet and begin to get to know

you all.

Sue mentioned the Omega 3's - I checked with my doc and would

recommend anyone else do the same. The one I take has omega 3, alpha

lipoic and coQ10 all in one. I also take a vit/min pack with no iron

in it - hard to find. All of these were approved by my doc at the

liver clinic.

I had never thought of adding them for our dogs - what else does it

help with and how much would I give them?

How do you like the sleep number bed?

Hey Roxanne,

I went through the treatments for 44 wks. between 2003 and 2004. It

just about finished off my liver. I was clear for six months and then

it came back.I take Milk Thistle 3 times a day and my liver function

has improved .I also take a multi -vitamin and vitamin D to make up for

the lose caused for by my Disease.Hope things stay good for you.
