Hi Ann,

Wow – that’s exciting that you’ve

pre-ordered the book – many thanks!!!

That’s exciting, too that you’ll

be starting private instructions. I would love to talk with your instructor, if

she’s amenable. She probably has great ideas about how to adapt the

exercises for those of us with structural problems. Would you mind asking her

if I can get in touch with her, please? Or she can email me: andystanton@.... Or, she can

get me at our website: www.pilatesforfragilebacks.com

..

Best Wishes,

Andy

Thanks Ann.

Hi

All,

I've been really busy lately and hadn't been able

to read and post.

GEEZ, talk about busy - I can't believe the number

of posts and new

members! It's hard to catch up.

To Kam, and others that replied to my plea

for help motivating

my daughter, Thank you. I am working on remaining

calm and

consistent. Kam, when you have a chance I would

love to see some

resources. That is a very generous offer. Thank

you!

Jolynn…good work getting that surgical date

so quickly!

Vonnie, I will be thinking of you and sending

healing thoughts your

way. Remember I'm around the corner from NEBH, if

I can be of any

assistance to you or your family.

Andy, Wow I can't believe you showed up here. No

kidding, your book

has been sitting in my Amazon cart for a few weeks

now. Guess I'll go

back and complete the order. I have started on

some pilates work with

Vose in Brighton. Do you know her? She is

having her second hip

replacement this Friday. She obviously has some

things to say about

adaptive pilates.

, Guess what? Rand just prescribed neurontin

for my burning leg

pain. Good call!! I will take it at bed time and

see how it goes. You

wrote that you couldn't take it, may I ask why?

PA, loved your description of the

" bathtub incident " !

Sharon, I am looking into my time off, so I can

hang with you.

Edie, thanks for the update. I may try to get to

NYC mid April. I'll

let you know.

, I have heard good things about

Glazer and wish you well. My

PCP kind of yelled at me when I raised the issue

of a birth control

patch. She thought it wasn't a good idea to start

messing around with

hormone levels as I prepared for major surgery. I

believe others on

this list have used the patch.

Take care everyone,

Ann

Ann, thanks for bringing up the topic of Neurontin.

Suzanne, when you say you take one pill do you mean 300 mg.? My internist

currently has me taking 3 capsules (900 mg) at night. I have had trouble

with it making me clumsy and " drunk " feeling in the evening when I've taken

it and my Elavil, and I mentioned this, as well as the fact that I'm

sleeping as much as 12 hours a night, and having difficulty with memory and

focus, and she said she believes the Neurontin will be important for me

long-term, that the side-effects are from the combination of Neurontin and

Elavil, and that I should try cutting back the Elavil. Unfortunately,

cutting Elavil back even a little is allowing pain to return. And I mean a

LITTLE. I'm taking 37.5 mg one night, and the full 50 mg the alternate

night. Most of my pain is from tight muscles, and the Neurontin doesn't

seem to help with muscle tension. Or maybe it's just that the Neurontin

wears off faster? Recently I took 50 mg Elavil 2 nights in a row and I felt

great. Last night I took 37.5 mg, and I had difficulty sleeping, and woke

to a tight, sore neck.

I'm beginning to think I'll put up with the sleepiness and dopiness and stay

on the 50 mg of Elavil.
