Hi Marsha..You'll accomplish your goal with this dragon..It just takes so long is all to fight it and it is tiring but we all have to be determined..I know at times I just wanted to throw my hands up and did once but this group has helped me to go try it again..Oh by the way I can't start my tx as soon as I had hoped because of the surgery..Now it has to be put offf for a little longer..

Dear Sharon,

In 1988 I was in a very serious vehicle accident. I had 28 fractures,

including multiple fractures of the pelvis and both legs. They told me I

might always limp, and some of my coworkers never expected me to return

to work. I had just learned to snow ski the weekend before the accident

and set a goal to ski again within one year of the accident. Setting

this goal helped me to get through painful physical therapy and the

naysayers helped me want to prove what I set out to do. I was able to

ski the weekend before my anniversary date. I had already returned to

work a few months earlier.

I just got the results of my PCR viral load and I do, in fact, have Hep

C and my viral load is HIGH. But my enzymes are normal. Although I've

been sick and it's a little more difficult to be optimistic through

giant life battle number two, I plan to set goals this time, too. I have

to figure out what specific goal would help me the most and then I need

to do everything possible to strengthen my immune system (and cut out

the junk food--LOL). By the way, in the above-mentioned accident I

received 24 units of blood (the gift of life).

Your dad is awesome. I'm so glad made his golf date.

Marsha, I also got this Hep C through the gift of life in 1985. I had several transfusions in March then a couple in October. I haven't set any goals as far as beating this. I know in my hart & mind I will beat this.

Marsha,

My goal is to spoil my granchildren. My kids are

all teenagers and don't even have any one important in

their lives and I don'y want them to yet. I just plan

on kicking this virus out so I can spoil the grandkids

I don't have yet.

I think it's the carrot we dangle in front of

ourselves that keeps us going.

It sounds like your pretty awesome yourself.

Sharon

Sounds like you're a fighter, Marsha. I'm sure you'll

do well in this battle too. Eating healthy is a good

goal for starters, I would say setting a goal for

water consumption would be good, too. I always had a

hard time drinking enough water, and I paid when I

didn't. Remembering my meds was a challenge too. I had

quite a few pills left at the end of my treatment.

Me too. I'll be pushing 80 or beyond before I could

logically expect great grandchildren. It'll be another

10-20 years before I'll see grandchildren (I hope). My

son is 12. -dz-

I am half bezerk over all that. He won't come out of that river. Just says doctor said I am not sick mom. I said he is also the same nit wit that said you couldn't (well you know). Greg at least set up the classes. Please start to take charge and learn about this virus plan your strategy and win. You need more than one test that says you have HepC and thats it. So I asked him again Friday I let over a month go by I said Greg did you set the appointment. He said yes mom I said Greg don't lie to me. I could tell you know. He says Mom I did set an appointment I just didn't say which one. I said did you schedule the classes or another blood test with the doctor. No I did set a chiropractic appt for my neck and back. Well I give up. He won't budge till hes ready. Thank heavens this virus progresses slowly or hed be in deep do do by now. Well for right now all I can do is pray that he wakes up and comes out from swimming in that old river of denial. I hope your right. Greg just loves children and his brothers kids are the beneficiarys of all the attention so far. I got mine via transfusions I had to have in 1971..... felt good for years

actually til about the 90's set in.... and began having abdominal pains

I didn't know from what- but was 1st diagnosed in 88...... my viral load

has always been pretty low-- but my enzymes had been high since first diagnosis(88)

Didn't find out til end of '00 or '01 what my genotype was - then I had

to demand the test from my then Dr. he had tried to tell that my getting

the test was of no value(well it was to me) even went so far as saying

that if I had this test done it raise everyone's ins. rates...... we don'

have just any ins.. but it is a self-funded plan thru Ken's Union.....

we have up to 7.5 million $$'s lifetime insurance..... So far

the highest I've had was last year when I was hospitalized twice

so I cost them about $50,000 & made the special list! But there

were a couple of babies born last year that they had already spent 2-3

million on by Oct last year (this was just for 2001)

Don't know what was wrong with them.... Ken told me @ one time not

so many years ago I was the only person in the union membership & dependents

that had the this virus....... now there are about 20-30 of us.
