Review of Dr. Overbeck and Hardasnails

Hi,

My name is Phil. I joined this forum several months ago because I was diagnosed

with low t. It was not apparent at the time what was causing my low T, whether I

was primary or secondary. So I went to my primary care. He said to start using

androgel.

I wanted a second opinion so he referred me to an endocrinologist. I wont

mention any names. The endo did her blood work, tested my pituitary gland and at

that time was total test was 164. So she prescribed androgel, which i started to

use at 5g a day. She didnt tell me that androgel can amplify sleep apnea or can

even cause choking as I sleep. Regardless, I was on the gel for over a month,

maybe 7 weeks. I didnt feel any different and my t levels went to 380..still at

the cut off point for a 31 yr old male.

So I sat back and thought and thought, over and over. I had found about Dr.

Overbeck and Hardasnails from this forum. They werent covered by my insurance

and I was debating whether or not to see them because it can be costly..

So I bit the bullett and went to see them. Because, fortunately I was in the

financial situation to afford pay for the visits. Afterall, my health is #1.

Without it, I've got nothing!

Their approach was completely different. Dr. O and Hard wanted to know WHY my

testerone wasnt not responding the way it should for a relatively healthy 31 yr

old male. They had me do a clomid challenge. Well after a week on clomid my test

levels shot up to 630!

They were looking at other reasons as to why my test responded well to clomid

but was stopping my body from making test..turns out, I had a severe allergy to

dairy,gluten and wheat! This food allergy was overlooked by TWO endos.

I read about this online later and it says that basically some people are

allergic to certain foods despite never having showed any symptoms of an

allergy. The screwed up thing is that this food allergy was screwing up my

testerone.

Not to mention Dr. O and Hard found that I was also anemic! My primary OR the

TWO endos didnt find that because they DIDNT LOOK! they did a half assed job!

I have very low iron and hard suggested that I use an iron supplement which I

use daily and I think it is helping with RLS too!

So I went to 2 " in network " Endos and in my opinion they are useless. Really

are.

Had I not gone to see Dr. O and Hard, I would have kept eating

dairy,gluten,wheat, kept using androgel and wondering why my test levels would

have never probably reached the 5/600 level that is a good starting point.

Its scary to see that some medical doctors realy dont care about how YOU are

feeling that dont have to live with it like YOU do. they get a kickback when

they prescribe androgel.

After having discovered my food allergy, while the repair process is still in

the works, dr o and hard are confident they found the problem. I feel better as

well. Its going to take time, but I sense I feel better overall..

If you live in the philadelphia are and want to see two guys that KNOW what to

look for and dont just prescribe hrt, YOU NEED TO GO SEE DR.O and HARD!

Especialy Hard. This guy knows his shit. I dont know what his education is

exactly, but he knows more about hormones than the endos I went to see.

the point here being that its obvious what doctors care and what doctors care

about the $$ and nothng more. I ran into 2 or 3 that were after the $$ and

nothing else..it was obvious!

Im glad I found Dr. O and Hard on here. They are worth EVERY DIME tenfold!

oh and one other KEY thing to keep in mind..

Hard went over my bloodwork with me. Not that I understood it all, but he walked

me through every line trying to explain to me how it was all tied together. do I

understand it all, heck no, but he took the time to explain what his findings

were and where he and dr. o want to go next.

Sitting down with me and talking to me about what you found and where I am vs

where i need to be and the gameplan SEPERATES these two gentlemen from other

clueless endos!

You wont find a more knowledgeable team in the Philadelphia area that Dr.

Overbeck and Hard as nails.

It also helped that hard went through this himself..he knew what to look for..

GO SEE DR.O and hard as nails..they know their stuff . They try to find the

break in your chain, not patch it like endos....

Their approach makes the most sense..

Key difference, Dr. O and Hard LISTENED to how I was feeling and wanted to know

why.. the Endos didnt care. Take androgel and be on your way...it amazes me that

medical doctors that specialize in the endocrine system dont really understand

how it works apparently..

I wonder if some of these endos BUY their medical license..seriously.. talk

about a bad taste in my mouth..

I'm a bit blown away. I went to a uro originally for ED issues and discovered

the low T. He started me on Androgel, but was quite willing and cooperative when

I told him I wanted to go on injections. He had not tested for estradiol when I

first went to him but readily agreed to the test. When estradiol skyrocketed he

told me that he was not really up on aromatase inhibitors but was willing to let

me try Armidex. He came to our appointment with notes and research, talked to me

in detail about things to watch for, and handed me a script. He balked at HCG

implementation, saying he was not " comfortable " with prescribing it for me and

it would be best if I talked to an endo about it.

Well, my appt. with the endo was today. Actually he treats my diabetes usually.

But I had told his nurse a few days ago that I was taking Arimidex and he seemed

fine with it. I went to today's appointment armed with Dr. Crisler's articles. I

never even needed them. I asked him if he was averse to prescribing HCG and he

said absolutely not, that he thought it was a good idea and would be helpful,

and (since he knew I hung out here) asked if there was a particular protocol I

wanted to follow.

I was floored. I've heard so many men here speak of the problems that they have

getting doctors to listen to them and accept the validity of these treatments. I

was prepared to do battle or find new doctors. Thank goodness I seem to have

lucked out with my choices. Between that and the collective wisdom of this

group, I'm feeling like I have a fighting chance!

By the way, is any particular " brand " or type of HCG more recommended than

another?
