fitday.com is great and I highly recommend it - I print it out everynight to add to my records. you're doing great - keep passing that thing by - or find another route LOL

That's great. There is way too much temptation in our everyday lives.

Think how much money you'll save by avoiding the vending machine. Tracking

food intake is a total pain in the butt but I think we tend to kid ourselves

if we don't track carefully. Enter everything in Fit Day. Just commit to 1

week to see what your calorie and nutrient intake is. I've been stumbling

around doing various programs for the last 2 years but none of them had

enough accountability.

Why? Did you talk to him about it? What did he say? I think he needs some

I guess I'll tack my food for the day on here:

breakfast

yogurt

2 slices whole wheat toast

lunch

tomato soup

sandwich with ham, turkey and swiss on whole wheat

snack

huge apple

dinner

whole grapefruit

3 eggrolls

snack

1.5 ounces milk in hot vanilla milk

Total is 2006 calories, 28% fat, 10% saturated, 53% carbs, 19% protein, 28

grams fiber. Day 4 was great! I was hungry this afternoon but I didn't

have the shaky anger crash like the last few days. I can't imagine only

eating 1400 calories. I'm hungry on 2000!

I'll weigh in tomorrow. That will be morning of Day 5. I know I've lost a

few pounds already. Cool.

Take healthy snacks with you to reduce temptation. Of course those baby

Ok. That's behind you and now you have to learn from experience. You have

to stand your ground. So what if he gets offended. You are worth it! You

have to do this for you. He'll understand when he has a fit wife on his

arm. :) You guys put up with way too much crap from your husbands.

Remember you have to train them like a small child or a puppy. :)

Easier..... hmmm..... maybe a little. I'm hungry right now but I'm not

famished and shaky. I think calorie counting (or exchanges or windows or

whatever) is important so we don't eat too little as well as not eating too

much.

I lost 5 pounds this week. I'm happy because I know I've been eating

healthy and exercising but my weight has been fluctuating a lot the last few

months depending on the time of the month. Today 268, last Mon. 273, the

Monday before that 268, the Mon before that 273, the Mon. before that 267.

Weird since I've only been back on a plan for 4 days. It doesn't matter

though since I'm very happy with my progress the last few days and I know

I'll have a real loss to report next Mon.

I'm so glad that mysterious motivation wave hit me on Thursday. It just

seems like I can try and try but until some weird force comes along I can't

make myself eat healthy. Sad that I don't feel like I have the control

inside me but I've failed so many times when I just couldn't find the

motivation. I know it's only been 4 days but usually I can't even stay on

plan through 1 day. I've tracked my weight off and on since Aug. 2002 in

Excel. Depressing to look back on all that failure. In 2002 I hit a low of

234. In 2003 a low of 231. 2004 brought a low of 247. 2005 started at

273. Ugh. Can you say yo yo? 2005 is my year though. :) If I work hard

I can start 2006 at 199. :) We can do this! Sue, how many times have you

heard me say that? :) How do I keep from screwing up this time? At least

I'm using a different plan this time so I'm not doing the same thing I

failed at before.

Yes, I'm rambling. I need to go fold clothes. Vonn slept until 9:15. She

was tired from the gymnastics overnight on Sat. night. My mom will bring

Lynn home this afternoon. Vonn has gymnastics at 3:30 and Lynn has guitar

at 7. At least we don't have to fit Lynn's homework into the schedule since

today is a holiday.

Ok, off to watch the View and fold clothes. I think I'll eat the exact same

things today that I did yesterday. I know that's not a good idea over time

because boredom will set in but it was yummy and satisfying yesterday so why

mess with a good thing. :) I need to cook something nice so he

doesn't get annoyed. Either that or I need to swat him over the nose with a

rolled up newspaper. :)

You've got to get your immediate family behind you. Let them know that

the only snacks you're going to buy form now on are healthy ones, that

Well, I just spent a month cooking Ed's favorite meals, and he knows

we've got to go back to all veggie meals or else the 2 of us will burst!

At least during last night's chicken meal he said he wouldn't mind if

we had all the foods currently on the table minus the chicken, that's

how tasty and filling everything else was. In fact, the only thing we

had leftovers of were the chicken breasts. He does still get to keep his

goodies, since he eats stuff I never go near, like Spicy Doritos and

Entenmann's pop 'em's. One's too salty and the other is so sweet my

teeth would explode.

I'm good about snacks that we have on hand. Right now we have gold fish,

pretzels, Combos, and Pringles. I usually wouldn't have the Combos or

Pringles on hand but I bought them before the miraculous change in my eating

that occured 4 days ago. :) I haven't eaten any Pringles and the rest will

go in the kids' lunches this week. I'll give Lynn the rest of the Combos.

The only time really sabotages my eating by bringing home unhealthy

stuff is when he brings leftovers home from a camp out. I'll talk to him

about that before the next camp out which will be in March.

Yes, we were inundated with candy from Halloween and Christmas. Usually I

keep Dum Dums and other unappealing stuff in the house for the kids.

Well, the kids don't eat exactly what and I do because we like things

pretty spicy. On Sat. evening and I had stirfry and the kids had rice,

veggies and shrimp separately. Of course they acted like I was trying to

kill them by giving them shrimp that wasn't fried. Sheesh. Kids can be

sooo annoying. :)

In the past and I have pretty much eaten the same thing but slightly

modified like his over rice and mine over broccoli or his with lots of

noodles, mine with a few, etc. Right now I want simplicity so I'm happy

eating egg rolls, pockets, etc. I'll have to work on calorie counts for our

favorite recipes but right now that is too much work. After my test I'll be

able to focus on that more. Just the thought of adding up all the

nutritional info for 10 different ingredients and dividing it out by the

number of servings is too much to deal with. It would be nice to do that

and have those recipes entered into Fit Day as custom items since we tend to

repeat our favorite dishes every couple of weeks.

I feel like you're mixing me up with someone else. I have trained not

to expect junk food at home. :)

carnivore at heart. :)

Amen to that. I wish that I could still take Ephedra. I loved that stuff.

Who cares if it gave me the jitters as long as it reduced my appetite. I'd

prefer to avoid a stroke though so I'm scared to take it now.

Gotta make lunch. Vonn and I are hungry. My mom will be bringing Lynn home

soon then I need to get the kids to pick up their stuff. I bought Lynn nice

tennis shoes for school and I haven't seen them for 2 weeks. Grrr.... she

has to find those things.

I'm embarrassed to say that I need to take down the Christmas tree. I took

a last batch of photos of the girls in front of it which was my excuse for

not taking it down yet. Now I have no excuse. :)

Nope. Where there's life, there's hope! As

mentioned, the veggie meals are going to start again, and Saturday we

hit a mall and I saw the & The Silver Foxes DVD is out and I picked it

up. Now I don't have to worry about wearing out the tape again.

Tomorrow after the laundromat I'll pop it in and see how far I can get

before some appendage threatens to drop off.

Which is why I call Henry the pickiest eater in

the world. At least at 21 he makes most of his own meals now because he

refuses to eat what I cook.

But it would be a full time job to do it. Does it

*save* the info for future use, or would you have to re-enter it each

time? If so, it may be worth the $20 investment in Mastercook (Less if

you get one of the older versions).

Yeah, but this ticker isn't getting any younger, and I'll probably be

forced to make the change, like it or not, if I want good health into

my old age. What a choice - eat what I don't like all that much and

live a longer life (at least it'll *feel* longer), or eat what I

*like* and live maybe a few less years.

I saw a box of Celestial Seasonings tea the other day called something

like Dieter's Tea and took a look at it. I forget the exact

ingredients, but it did have a warning label on it that people with any

kind of heart condition, high blood pressure, diabetes, among other

diseases, should definitely not drink it. I get all jittery now if I

have some real coffee or tea instead of my usual decaf, so imagine how

I would be with *this* stuff!

We've been eating this way off and on since the

mid-80's, and he still looks for that hunk of meat now and then. As I

said many times before, I doubt I will ever get 100% veg again, but as

long as the majority of my meals are it should help.

I have some leftover chicken with my name on it waiting for me, too.

A load of houses here still have all their

outdoor decorations up, and Ed said the other day that most of them

that he passes on the way home from work are still lit. Not unusual for

this city.

I had the daughter at the dr. today because she's experiencing side effects from the thyroid meds and she mentioned she fluctuates 10 pounds a week - he told her it was water weight. ok I buy that for 1 week but not 4.

.... I weighed myself again this morning and I'm afraid to even think that I lost as much as it said I know its all water weight being the first week and all but I'm afraid that tomorrow I'll weigh again and it will show a gain and that I didnt really lose that much..

Faye remember Rome was not built in a day and you will not get a routine going in a day either. Taking notes of highs and lows will teach you to know your body and what works for you. When you have these highs do you take notes and see if something you are eating before that could be causing a binge. Example I know if I have cereal for breakfast I usually need a mid morning snack. BUT if I have protein egg omelette, I can usually go without a mid morning snack. Beating the cravings before you give into them is key.

years?!!!!!

but I know it's true. It doesn't matter how many times I " start

over " as long as I keep trying!

All of the attempts, all of the reading I have done, all the

programs I have tried, all the posts I have read and received, all

of it helps!!!

They are all building blocks.

Funny you should mention cereal, . I start most mornings

with cereal ( and other things too!!). But in general, I have

learned from other groups/ food plans, when the cravings

come, " LOOK to your last meal or snack " The answer is probably there

as to what caused cravings. It often, for me, can be sugar

substitute, caffeine or simple, " bad " carbs.

Kathy... On Saturday a.m. I went to Perkins and had country fried steak and eggs with hash browns and a mammoth muffin. For lunch I ate a double cheeseburger and fries from Mcs and for dinner, we went to the Cheesecake Factory where I consumed shrimp scampi w/angel hair pasta. I was too full to eat my cheesecake, so I saved that for Sunday morning's breakfast! After I ate the cheesecake on Sunday a.m., we went to a bagel shop and had bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel. For lunch I ate, 1/2 of a foot long Italian sub, a piece of cake and some olives. For dinner, more olives, the other half of the sub and a pint of DOVE ice cream. To be honest with you, there were a couple of times I was hungry on Sunday. I don't think you should ever let yourself get hungry on your gorge days. The more you can consume, the better off you'll be once you start your 500 calorie

Currently studying for Nutrition Certification and PhD in Psychology day 4

I am on day 4 of the south beach diet and I think I am doing really good. I am still craving sweets a bit though. During phase one you are supposed to be detoxing your body and getting rid of the cravings for sweets, and carbs. So far I still want sweets. Ugh, but it isn't too bad. I did go ahead and weigh this morning even though it hasn't been a week yet , and I was down 4.6 pounds. I was so happy to see that number. I am motivated to try even harder now, only with the sb diet it isn't really like trying just eating *other* things. I haven't been hungry at all except on the first day. I have also been trying hard to get the water in, but I haven't been very successful. So there you have it. That is my update.

Hello,

It's day for on LDN 1.5mg. I was so bad on day 1, a touch better day 2 and 3,

and today is day 4, maybe a bit better? I don't know. I have been very tired,

having some anxiety at times/heart palpitations, some shortness of breath when

that happens, and an almost headache - more like a hot head/pressure slight ache

feeling. Today is my first full day at work 9-5. I just hope I can stay awake

through it! I have been sleeping a lot the last few days. Just waiting to get

used to this and feel better!
