Guest guest
Here is link to my story I wasted 5 yrs of my life on AD drugs and later when a new on had a side effect that slowed down my voiding I had to see a Uro due to a bad bladder infection this Dr. found me to not be suffering from Depression but to be low on Testosterone. I was on so dam many AD drugs I have to go into a drug rehab hosp. to get off them. I was off work more then I was at work on AD drugs because they make the low T worse when I started on T I was feeling much better and back to work. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 Yet still the Uro did not get it right he said I was Primary and after being on TRT 23 or 28 yrs I found out I am Secondary. Guest guest
I was using trazadone for sleep(worked great!), but have switched to meletonin w/ good results. I am also tapering VERY slowly off cymbalta, and so far I feel great. I expect it to take 6 mos to one year to taper off. Doctors should really take a closer look at hormones before prescribing anti-depressants. Steve ________________________________ From: Primemuscle <Primemuscle@...> Sent: Sun, February 7, 2010 4:08:39 PM Subject: Reduced or Eliminated Need for Anti-depressants Many years ago, my doctor prescribed Trazodone for mild insomnia, anxiety and depression. I didn't then and don't now have sleep apnea. However, even though falling asleep wasn't too much of an issue, I'd wake up many times during the night. Often, all I would do when I woke up was check the alarm clock to see if it was time to get up yet or not. Of course the more I did this, the more anxious I'd become. Fortunately, Trazodone seemed to do the trick, allowing me to sleep through the night. At that time, I was taking 300 mg just before retiring for the night. One problem I experienced was that I'd feel groggy the next morning until about mid-day. Eventually, I cut back on the amount of Trazodone I was taking. At the same time, I began taking Wellbrutrin XL to treat depression. This course of treatment for depression continued with some variances over the next fifteen years. Since beginning TRT last August, I've discontinued taking both Welbutrin and more recently Trazodone. So far, I've not felt at all depressed, which is great. Perhaps the TRT is helping relieve any depression I felt before. It has been about two weeks since I stopped taking Trazodone. My ending dosage was 75 mg per night. I should have tapered off, but I ran out and thought what the heck, I'll just quit now. I don't recommend doing this. Coming off Trazodone can make one feel really sick with flu like symptoms. My sleep patterns are not as good as they were while on Trazodone, but they are gradually getting better. I feel rested most of the time. Has anyone else had similar experiences with reduced or an eliminated need for anti-depressant medications since beginning TRT?

Guest guest
I have to check into this trazadone. I'm on hrt but my numbers on some things are f'ing crazy. I'm tired of not sleeping through a night. Maybe this will help. > > I was using trazadone for sleep(worked great!), but have switched to meletonin w/ good results. > I am also tapering VERY slowly off cymbalta, and so far I feel great. Guest guest
Try SAMe & St s Wort daily. Does not have the side effects of SSRI. > > Many years ago, my doctor prescribed Trazodone for mild insomnia, anxiety and depression. I didn't then and don't now have sleep apnea. Guest guest
Has anyone used Desyrel (indian generic for Trazadone) to help their sleep? I've read some decent things about this. I think I'm gonna get some. > > > > I was using trazadone for sleep(worked great!), but have switched to meletonin w/ good results. > > I am also tapering VERY slowly off cymbalta, and so far I feel great. Guest guest
This is an antidepressant; are you just planning to use this to sleep??? There are safer options, but I'm curious if your adrenals are different now due to you meds etc. If you don't get enough cortisol during the day, you may not be able to sleep well at night..El > > Has anyone used Desyrel (indian generic for Trazadone) to help
Guest guest
would be using it for sleep. i've tried all sorts of natural stuff. Nothing works. As for the adrenal testing, I've asked to be tested. This was put on the back burner. Just don't know anymore. Since being on T3 meds for 2 weeks now, I've noticed a rebound in my PM energy levels. Please note, I've had a problem with sleep for several years. I just seem like I'm in a fog. It's really funky. > > This is an antidepressant; are you just planning to use this to sleep??? > > There are safer options, but I'm curious if your adrenals are different now due to you meds etc. If you don't get enough cortisol during the day, you may not be able to sleep well at night..El > > > > > > Has anyone used Desyrel (indian generic for Trazadone) to help >
Guest guest
Sorry you are not sleeping Jim! You can order your own saliva test kit: www.canaryclub.org; no need to ask permission from anyone to get it. Being on T3 you have to have well supported adrenals---I would be one to be totally against getting hooked on antidepressants (if you don't think you can get hooked, try coming off them ...El > would be using it for sleep. i've tried all sorts of natural stuff. Guest guest
Here's the thing before I go this route. My insurance covers this test through genova. I only pay $50. I'm gonna stress this test again. Yes, I read numerous times to treat the adrenals first if they are less than optimum. > > Sorry you are not sleeping Jim!
