I can't think of any good reason to start with 5 gms of T if there is no

plan to test before upping to the 10gm dose.... better to just start at

10 gms.

Here is some support and guidance about hCG

http://www.allthingsmale.com/word_docs/HCGupdate.doc

Being Secondary you may get some good T production with regular hCG use.

Would your doctor prescribe as a trial? Perhaps if you got a script but

did not fill through insurance? Among the complications of

self-prescribing is still the need for lab testing. Some people go it

alone but fully consider.

Without everyone being aware of the hCG the T dose may be adjusted

downward to get down to 750-800. 800 may not actually be high enough

and kind of shows that the doctor is a total T numbers guy and will not

be looking at bioavaialble T, SBHG, or possibly even E2. The bottom line

is you may not have the doctor you want for proper care.... let's hope I

am wrong. Do you live anywhere near Lansing, Phily, or CA?

YMMV, but you may realize the benefits of hCG the same day.

I have a strong feeling that you and this doctor will part ways in short

order. If you already bought the ticket, go as far as you can, and jump

off this train :)

Don't bother with saliva tests for sex hormones, waste of money. Being

in PA, you can order your own serum labs... numerous self-order labs

available including those using LabCorp as a collection site.

Give HAN a shout hardasnails1973

<hardasnails1973> He is a good and earnest

clinician and works with a doctor near Phily. If your PA-based

insurance will cover this, don't waste your time any longer. Even if

insurance will not cover the doctor, consider anyway. Great excuse to

visit Phily, have a cheese-steak, and stay overnight!

BTW, about how old are you? Is this a case of late onset hypogonadism ?

Are you really sure that you are secondary? These are important

concerns while heading into TRT.

Thanks again, I'll drop him a line sometime. I'll probably stay with the

current doc for at least 3 months though... that's when the first tests

are due and he's already given me the order for them... and my insurance

will pay for it. I don't know if they'll pay for self-ordered tests.

It's hard for me to get enough time to go all the way to philly. I'm

swamped at work right now with 3 major projects going all at the same

time. Maybe later this summer...

I'm certain it's secondary, the doctor called it " central hypogonadism "

and said that my testicles were working fine, it's the hypothalimus

and/or pituitary that's not sending the LH.
