Hi Ballady, I am taking Source Natural Resveratrol that Buhner recommends.

Questions for Buhner at planetthrive.com. I need to run so don't have time to

write what my bottle says. I am sure someone here will give u more info.

On the bottle it says:

resveratrol 200 mg

(polygonum cuspidatum)

extract (root)

standardized to contain 20% trans resveratrol

10% emodin

I have been following the directions on the bottle - 1 capsule between

meals. Buhner recommends much higher

Does anyone know if this is acceptable? If not, where is it that one

can go to ask him a question?

I have that too. The bottle says:

(Serving size 2 tablets)

Sodium 10 mg

Calcium 218 mg

--------------------------------------------

Standardized Hu Zhang Root Extract 1g

(Polygonum cuspidatum)

Standardized to 8% total resveratrols

Yielding:

Total Resveratrols 80 mg

Resveratrol 20 mg

------------------------------------------------

Other Ingredients: dibasic calcium phosphate, stearic acid, modified cellulose

gum, colloidal silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate.

-------------------------------------------------

When I started, I used a resveratrol that I bought locally to tide me over until

the Buhner-recommended one arrived. I felt more confident using what he

recommended because I didn't understand the labeling well enough to know if I

had the right thing.

Then when I got the Source Natural stuff, I took them half and half until the

old bottle was gone.

It worked for me. :) No idea which ones are " good " and which ones are less

good. And my new books are somewhere in the mail. (I ordered one for me and

one to loan after giving my last one to my MD. It was only an extra $8.00 for a

second copy 'cause it bumped me into the " free shipping " zone.)

Have you tried the whole herb? I get Hu Zhang from 1st Chinese. It

seems to work very well for me. But I'm not terribly sensitive to

most things, and I don't mind the taste.

Just a possibility. I hope you find something that works for you.

You might try Plum Flower Brand from 1st Chinese Herbs.

I have used both and couldn't tell any difference. BUT I switched over a year

ago.

If you can't take the man modified, try the WHOLE HERB powder.

I concur, use brands of herbs that are not adulterated with preservatives, etc..

and encapsulate them yourself. I also use only veggie caps. Who knows what the

animals have injected in them.

I'm not the example you were looking for.......but the only safe way

for me with allergies and MCS, is to use wildcrafted or organic whole

It is frustrating when formulas somehow mysteriously change....and we

lose our tolerance of a previously ok product.

Hang in there,

I have used the Hu Zhang from 1st Chinese, their Plum Flower Brand, with no

problems, the 5:1 extract. I now have the whole herb, same brand, in powder

form, which I plan to use as soon as I finish up the other stuff.

hi julie,

i can't use Source Naturals becuase of the extra ingredients. in general, i

avoid as many of the so-called " inactive ingredients " in supplements as

possible, so i use Pure Encapsulations, resveratrol standardized extract, 1

cap = 200mg. i use 1 cap 3xday.

then also use bulk Plum Flower knotweed to gain benefits of the whole plant

(not the concentrated version, which has some starches), 2caps 3xday.

i buy the Pure caps at 25% off (best price i've found) at

www.myhealth-store.com i added this info to Planet Thrive herb sources too.

:-)

love,

kendra

i had the same problem a few weeks ago.

i called source naturals and they assured me it was the same

ingredients.

it beats me how the smell could be so different. maybe different kinds

of grapes

are used. who knows? i had to try tiny crumbles of it for a few weeks

until i tricked

my body into tolerating it. it's crazy.

GRAPES????, Geez, I HOPE there are NO grapes in the stuff. You need the

KNOTWEED Resveratrol, not grapes.

NO, I don't think it is hard at all. I usually do it while watching TV to make

better use of my time. You get used to doing it and hardly have to think about

it.

Does anyone know anything about Resveratrol other than what was on the piece on

60 Minutes? It is certainly very interesting but is it really beneficial? And

are there any conflicts with LDN?

Enzymatic therapy or integrative therapeutics has resveratrol ultra high

potency. It has giant knotweed in it too. I asked them about giant knotweed it's

the chosen translation from the latin name but really is japanese knotweed.

am getting a bit confused. I always took the Source Naturals 40 mg or 80

for 2 tablets but now I see the Public Health site and Planet Thrive and

it says

So which is what? And is the 1st Chinese herbs brands? Anyone have any

Vitacost is carrying Source Naturals Resveratrol, the classic form without

wine.  It is exactly what Buhner recommends in pill form and I just purchased

it.  It was $19 for 120 tablets.

This is the original (´classic´) Source Naturals formulation, that is (or was)

available from 1st Chinese at least until recently. 500 mg is the pill size

(similar to 500 mg of bulk herbs', 40 mg is the standardized resveratrol concent

for this pill.

Problem with the bulk herbs like those from 1st Chinese is that the resveratrol

content is NOT standardized, so the amount to take is a bit of a guess if you

assume that the resveratrol is the active ingredient. Anyway, the optimum dosage

probably varies for everyone.

They are actually the same, although I found it very confusing on first

reading. Then I checked the label on the bottle of Source Naturals 40 mg.

The fine print that 2 tablets contain " Polygonum cuspidatum 1 g Standardized

to 8% Total Resveratrols Yielding: Total Resveratrols 80 mg. " Since it's for

2 tablets, divide 1 gram in half and you will get 500 mg.

Personally I think that this " new " protocol is much ado about nothing. It's

still the basic Lyme protocol that emphasizes Resveratrol from Japanese

knotweed, plus Cat's Claw, and only for acute cases, Astralagus. The

eleutherococcus was previously a recommendation, and now it seems to be part

of the core. The only things I'm puzzled about is why Andrographis and

Sarsparilla were not mentioned in the Public Health article and why Cat's

Claw is not suggested for a full year. In any case, I'm not about to stop

taking any of these. Buhner's book explains why they are good.

Did Buhner oficially revise the protocol, or is this just the interpretation

of the author of the article?

One of them carefully labeled the one without the red wine, " New item since

April 2010. " But I can't remember if it's Vitacost or iHerb. You'll se it when

you bring up the page for the item.
