Guest guest
Hi Barb, Can you explain more about what your saying about low ferritin making one hyper? My ferritin is very low (4) but all other iron levels were well within the proper range. Neither my former PA or my new DO are concerned with this. I do go from being very depressed in the morning to often pinging off the walls hyper sometimes by late afternoon. Do you think this could have something to do with Ferritin being low? I haven't seen the actual lab report yet but new DO Dr. says my thyroid levels are all OK. I am on TRT taking DIM and occasional Arimidex to keep E2 down. Guest guest
Same thing here my iron looked good but my Ferritin was below normal. My new Dr. put me on Iron pills with Vit. C wow did this make me feel better but took months. You need to take about 200 mgs of Elemental Iron per day. I take this every 12 hrs. with vit C. http://www.walgreens.com/store/catalog/Minerals/Ferrous-Fumarate-324-mg/ID=prod1\ 194792 & navCount=0 & navAction=push-product http://www.myvitanet.com/supbiocbuf36.html My Dr. dose these labs every 8 weeks on this. Guest guest
First person accounts from others describe extreme anxiety, like " shooting out of a cannon, " if they take a T3 thyroid drug with low ferritin. Cortisol is the only thing I know of that changes dramatically throughout the day, and this can affect your mood. Have you ever had a 4x/day saliva cortisol test? I would want to see your thyroid labs (free T3, free T4, reverse T3). " Normal " includes 95% of the population, including hypos. Optimal is about 70%+ of the range for Free T3. Depression is often low T3, and you need adequate cortisol to get the thyroid into the cells. Some people have very low morning cortisol, which makes it hard for them to get up. There is an ACTH feedback loop that controls cortisol (like TSH for thyroid), and your ACTH can go into overdrive because your morning cortisol was low, with your cortisol levels finally catching up in the afternoon, which could explain your afternoon hyperness. Guest guest
Thanks Barb, No I haven't had the cortisol test. I am assuming that I do have adrenal fatigue because the symptoms all fit and am following the vitamins and DHEA recommendations in 's book " Adrenal Fatigue The 21st Century Stress Syndrome " . Too early to tell for sure if it is helping but I do think I am doing a little better. It's only been two weeks. I will post my labs when I get a copy. My DO says he doesn't know anything about Adrenal Fatigue. At least he is honest. He thinks I need to have a sleep apnea test. I can't imagine that is my problem but if it comes to that I think I will ask him to do the saliva cortisol test first. Thanks, Brett Re: I am Back on Growth Hormone.- - Hyper? > First person accounts from others describe extreme anxiety, like " shooting > out of a cannon, " if they take a T3 thyroid drug with low ferritin. > > Cortisol is the only thing I know of that changes dramatically throughout > the day, and this can affect your mood. Guest guest
Be careful with DHEA, it can lower cortisol. But all the other recommendations in the book are good. > >> >> > >> >> I just got back from seeing Dr. he put me back on HGH but at a lower > >> >> dose > >> >> .15 mgs half of what I was on. Guest guest
The book is good but what he says about treating it is for someone that just figured out they have AF and for me did nothing until I went on Isocort because my Dr. would not give me HC Cortef for this. He just was not up on this today he tests everyone that looks like they might have AF. Dr. even puts his men on HC he can tell if you have this but looking and talking to you you can listen to him on a Radio Show he did about AF. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=18280 You can read how I got started treating my Adrenals and Thyroid in this link and the links in it. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=24 This Dr. is great about this in UK. http://featherstone.bravehost.com/thyroid/peatfieldadrenal.html Co-Moderator Phil > From: Brett Savage <brshop@...> > Subject: Re: Re: I am Back on Growth Hormone.- - Hyper? > > Date: Thursday, May 20, 2010, 11:58 PM > Thanks Barb, > No I haven't had the cortisol > test.
