Guest guest
hi all, ive posted my story at allthingmale.com and elsewhere. I have been hypo gonadal my whole adult like i think. I wasn't tested until 1996, age 28 and had a TT of 340. I was told that was normal In 2001 (age 33) the figure was 301, again in " normal " range, doc scared me about fertility and TRT, plus I had a suspicious tumor on my thyroid that took priority. That was removed (as was half my thyroid- benign) In Nov. 2009: (age 41) TT was 261. Low SHBG and Low Free T too. My GP prescribed Testim - it seemed to help a bit, but I feel it is not absorbing/raising my T levels much and for some reason is making ED worse. I asked the Dr about going with injections and he is agreeable to bi-weekly in-office injections. This is a more expensive and less desirable option than more frequent, lower dose injections. I have expressed my wish to self inject but he will only prescribe testim at this time. I think the Testim sales rep should be commended because they have all 3 doctors I have seen about my condition convinced that their product is superior in ALL cases of hypogonadism. I can spend $700 to see a local anti aging doc who will likely prescribed injectable T, as well as HCG and ameridex - but he doenst take insurance and I cant really afford him long-term. I really just need a doc who will prescribe the injectable T and monitor my levels levels. I can procure hcg and amiridex independently if need be. Ive been dealing with low T all my life, and now that I am trying to proactively deal with it, I feel like I am hitting barriers to getting better at every turn. Any adivce as to what to tell the doc? I don't seem to be very persuasive around them. Thanks for reading and for any advice..
Guest guest
First thing what were your Testosterone levels on Testim did you know men with a Thyroid problem can get a thicker skin and gels don't work your labs would show this. You need your Total and Free T levels up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range and to keep your Estradiol levels down to about 20 pg/ml this is the best recipe for feeling better and having a good sex life. In the AACE Guidelines it states on page 11 to do shots every 7 to 10 days to keep one from being on a roller coaster ride up after the shot only to fall very low by the next one doing shot every 2 weeks this by the way is dam old. Show this to your Dr. tell him you don't want to come in his office for shots you can do them your self. Men all over the country do this. People with diabetes give them self's shots everyday what is the problem. http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf Tell me where you live maybe we can find you a good Dr. Co-Moderator Phil > From: growaatl <jzeinner@...> > Subject: testim v injections > > Date: Thursday, January 28, 2010, 12:19 PM > hi all, > > ive posted my story at allthingmale.com and > elsewhere.
