Pat, glad to see you posting.... I am working on a one day menu for BFL

today.... when I have it figured out I will post it... Still too low in calories

so will be working on that as my priority....

I am so glad you got out that weight bench.... You will get your groove back

darlin!!!! As far as your weights, I would see how you do with the lower weights

and then build back up.... Let's see what the others say!

Having trouble

I have been having problems and feeling discouraged and missed a

couple of days BUT last night I got the weight bench set up and my

dumbbells laid out ready for my UBWO this morning. I only had time

for two hard boiled eggs before first class, and fixed a plate of

turkey, green beans.. and..wait for it.. some brown rice. The first

brown rice in over a year and a half. I felt like I was cheating.

Another meal I will have half of a sweet potato.. oy vey!! Its hard

to change a mindset, but I am working on it.

I had problems with my wo this morning. I couldn't even finish my

dumbbell curls, do I need to reduce my weights? I did 5, 10, 15, 20

then 15 and I could not finish the 6 reps of 20 and half of the 12

reps of 15. My right arm is my weaker arm *im left handed* and I had

to kind of help it along a bit. I was asking it to curl, but it was

shaking so bad I couldn't do it with proper form. I was nearly

bawling I was trying to finish up. I think I need to lower my

weights and try harder.

I feel like it was a 10, but was it?

It sounds like you totally hit your 10s! Maybe just a little earlier

than intended. :-) You're almost pulling things off with your current

weights. It's better for the muscle to totally fail a few reps early

than to go too low and feel like you could have kept going at the end

of the set. Whenever you go up in weight, you'll struggle to finish

the set and you might not make it the first couple of times.

I'll bet these will be your normal weights in another week or two. For

now, you might want to try smaller jumps in weight, like 5, 8, 10, 12,

15. If you try that and it feels to easy, go right back to your

original weights. Each workout you'll get a few more reps until you're

doing the whole thing. Then it will be time to think about increasing

again.

Oh, and congratulations on eating the rice and the sweet potato. Your

biceps are going to thank you for those carbs tomorrow when they're

screaming and trying to recover. :-)

I'm with you on the cottage cheese, tuna, and chicken breast burnout.

Lately I've been on a scrambled eggs and ketchup kick, which is weird

because up until a couple weeks ago, I'd never put ketchup on eggs in

my life.

These days I eat a lot of Morningstar Farms veggie products like

burgers and breakfast links. I'm also big on extra lean ground beef

and lean ground turkey breast. You can do anything with those. Ground

beef is great in Mexican dishes with brown rice and salsa. Also great

with a little pasta in Italian meals.

I brown and season ground turkey with taco seasoning and then mix it

with salsa and Kraft Easy Mac (I KNOW!! LOL). Somebody with some

cooking skills could probably come up with a healthy, lower fat,

higher fiber version of my MexiMac.

On the chocolate thing, if you have to have it, get Hershey's Nuggets

and plan to have two of them in your post-workout meal. I like the

Toffee and Almonds variety and two of them have 110 cals and 11g of

carbs. I also LOVE Tootsie Rolls. Three of the little ones are 80 cals

and 16g of carbs.

Obviously, if you're going hardcore, trying to win the challenge,

trying to get as lean as possible, you shouldn't be eating candy. And

if you're prone to bingeing, it might not be such a hot idea to have

chocolate on hand. However, if you're just trying to live your life,

lose fat, and create healthy new habits that are maintainable, a

little carefully controlled chocolate consumption can make the whole

process more enjoyable.

You might also try Zone chocolate caramel cluster bars or Steel Bar

Rivets. They're pretty tasty for protein bars. There's real milk

chocolate on the Rivets.

Cook the oatmeal, whip it into the already whipped egg whites. It's pretty

good with a teaspoon of cinnamon thrown in too.

Hi

Try this one:

6 egg whites

40g raw oats (keep the oats raw)

half a mashed banana

cinnamon

Mix all together and fry with some Spray and Cook.

GREAT morning starter and comes out like a big fat pancake

You can even mix some sweetner powder with extra cinnamon & throw

that ontop too - yummy :-)

Calories: +- 296 and will fill you for a while

I am on day 39 now and its my first challange and feel a million

times better than I did although the changes are small, am sure it

will start hotting up soon

If the egg whites are being mixed into the oatmeal when it is hot then

they will not be raw.

Two things about eggs....one if you are careful to buy the eggs in the

store that don't have cracks, even hair-line, then rince them before

cracking, you really don't have too much to worry about (should I tell

you how much egg nog I've consumed in my life? Not the storebought

pasturized stuff, but egg nog I made, from real eggs..no cooking there.)

The other things is that if you can get farm fresh eggs (not the kind

that are marked that way in the store, but really fresh eggs, where you

see the chicken mess and occassional feather stuck to the shells) they

have a natural antibactirial on them. Do not wash your farm fresh eggs

and they will stay good, even on the counter (okay, maybe not if it's

really really hot) for a long time.

I remember how the bodybuilders of days gone by used to drink raw eggs.

It probably was good for their muscles but there is always the

salmonella risk.

Why not use the packaged liquid eggwhites that can be purchsed from

nutrition stores or online at places like vitaglo.com? They are safer

than cracking eggs and you receive the same benefit. I'm still scared

to eat raw eggs and won't even let my kids eat any raw dough or batter.

Since the kids are around and want you to do stuff with them anyway, why not incorporate exercise into playing with the kids? Play catch and tag and ride bikes and go to the playground and join in with all of that with them and you'll get plenty of exercise. It doesn't HAVE to be regimented, formal exercise to count!

having trouble

hi everyone!well, im not far into my july rotation :( im having alot of trouble fitting in my workouts :( the family is demanding alot of my time... luckily they want to do lots of active things so that is helping, but it still isnt enough exercise for me. i did manage to lose 1.5 pounds so far this month, which im quite happy about, yet im afraid that ive already gained it back this past week.... ugh! the only time i had free to exercise yesterday was at 1130pm and i was just too tired, so i went to bed instead, thinking that i could get up early this morning and get a good workout in before they all wanted me to take them to the beach this afternoon. well, that didnt happen as they have me running around cooking meals and cleaning the house... double ugh! i just dont know what to do about my workout schedule! it is so hard with the kids at home with me all of the time. i need to buckle down and get up ALOT earlier in the morning i guess (which means going to bed ALOT earlier at night, which i also struggle with) ::sigh:: oh well, thanks for letting me vent, im off to get everyone in the truck for our outing today. i have tons of new workouts to do and they just sit there waiting for me to get around to them and that makes me feel kinda sad... hopefully i can do some yoga tonight at least! oh, and also dh has been diagnosed with high blood pressure and im trying to convince him to do some cardio, eat fruits and veggies and to drink less beer, but so far ive not had much luck.:*carolyn.

Hi Carolyn,

I know how hard it is to fit in exercise. I go thru it every day with my

kids also. I usually tell them a time I will be exercising & about how

long I will take & then have them plan what they will be doing during

that time. I'm don't know how old ur kids are,so I don't know if this

would work for you. When I am exercising, my kids know I don't take

interruptions, phone calls, etc unsless it is an absoulute emergency.

Once , they got used to my arrangement they would ask me, what time I

would be exercising for the day, so they would know when they needed to

fend for themselves. I came to realize that I always put everyone b4

me, and that it was okay for my well being to take a top priority

also. Hope this helps, but of course every strategy does not fit for

everyones individual stiuation.

Carolyn,

School is right around the corner:) My kids have been fighting and

having just general conflicts every day since the end of school. I try

to work around their schedules to get my workouts in. This is my plan

for the summer:

Sunday: PM aerobics + full body strength

Monday: AM: Yoga

Tuesday: AM Pilates

PM Run

Wednesday: AM Strength-Lower Body

Thursday: AM Strength-Upper Body

PM Run

Friday: AM Yoga/Pilates/Tai Chi

Saturday: PM run

I've been having a really hard time this month, too.

Everyone had some good suggestions, just try your

best. Maybe stick with the 30 - 45 minute " no dread "

nothing fancy workouts for awhile. That is my plan to

get myself back in the habit.

Those darned DH's never listen. Mine refuses to go to

the doctor b/c he knows that the doctor is going to

yell at him about his weight. *SIGH*

My BF also refuses to go to the doctor. I

think he has sleep apnea. I woke up last night and couldn’t sleep

(nightmares) and I heard him he goes snore, loud breathing, nothing. I don’t

think this is good. For us though his health problems are ruining our family

life (he gets headaches, rashes, is always tired, can never get going in the

morning and is at least 50 pounds overweight) He’s calling the doctor tomorrow

(he says doctors don’t want to hear from non-emergencies on a Monday

because they are busier). I’ve taken 6+ years of it though so my patience

has worn out – for us it is go to the doctor or we go J. Not sure we would but

his health causes us tons of problems and I think a good checkup and testing

for sleep problems will change a LOT. Of course since his idea of a

perfect meal is a hamburger, fries and cola or iced tea from a can – I’m

not sure he will lose the weight or get a ton of energy, but getting a good

night’s sleep may help him. And an assessment of his health allows me to

know if there are real issues.

Those darned DH's never listen. Mine refuses to go to

the doctor b/c he knows that the doctor is going to

yell at him about his weight. *SIGH*

I’ve been thinking about this

subject since you posted it and I’ve read the responses and finally

decided the throw my 2 cents in.

I do lots of exercise with the kids,

but I also Need me exercise time. Often this is only a bit of yoga or weight

lifting. If you bring up the pace on some of your kid activities, you could

possibly skip cardio most days. For example (in my experience) swimming

with non swimmers means bouncing up and down in the water or swimming with them

on your back. Jumping higher or water running can be fun (of course if they are

swimming you are keeping an eye on them and I’m not sure what to suggest)

Hiking or walking even slowly can be brought up to pace by lifting the knees

higher and swinging the arms. If walking on flat surfaces you can jump (ok

people may stare but your kids will think it is a blast), pump your arms, lift

the knees up, skip (its fun try it), do arm movements. Now if all that

still isn’t enough cardio, you have to really decide you Need that me

time and take it. A happy mom = a happy home = happy children. Taking

time for you can be one of the most important parts of being a mom. Maybe you

can find an activity they enjoy that they can only do while you exercise (like

watching a movie, or playing a certain game or doing a workbook – my daughters

love workbooks) And explain this is your time and stick to your guns.

Dear a,

Many students have the same problem.

The best way is to look each one up and make flash cards with trade

generic and classification.

You can make a double deck to play 'concentration'

You can use the www.studystack.com site to make electronic flash cards

and play other games. The site can also be used to make study

questions on flash cards not just Classification/trade/generic.

Also have a friend help you to learn by playing concentration with you

or by holding the flash card up to you.

Also a text book on pharmacology may help.

IF you make the flash cards by hand, draw a symbol or picure on each

one that has the SAME classification (example: all trade generics that

are controlled analgesics place a sad face :( and CS IV (or whatever

the schedule number). Another example: all hypnotics or sedatives

place a cresant shaped moon as a symbol for night or sleep.

Categorize all of one classification together when you use the flash

cards to study. Learn on classification or drugs used for aspecific

disease state at a time.

You can also do the same for specific unusual information:

May cause GI ulcers/take with food

May cause urine to turn orange.

May cause drowsiness.

May cause teeth discoloration and photsensitivity.

Hey Jeanetta,

I bet that in a and many other students' cases, just making

their own flash cards will really help them learn quickly.

I might just be thinking this because I am a 'wrote' learner, but in

the actual process that you posted of making your own flash cards

including possible DURs, I think anyone is going to learn so much

more than if they just had their wife 'drill them' using Moseby's

Drug Cards for Nurses.

My wife was so great when I preparing for the PTCB!!!!!!;)

If the " so on " includes eating quality meat proteins, recommended

carbs, supplements and fats/oils... as well as following Bee's 4-stage

protocol as directed, then the answer is " yes " .

My wife can't stand the thought of raw eggs either, and we've been on

the diet for 4 months. However, she loves the soups I make with bone

broth. I started out eating liver a lot, but now, I don't like the

taste of it anymore either.

One more thing... the human body is capable of much more than you give

it credit for. Right now, you have " spoiled " yours by cow-towing (no

pun intended) to it's limited appetite for foods. I was once a very

picky eater. Then I tried a candida diet for 5-6 months back in 2001.

After a few weeks of starving myself, it was amazing what I would eat!

Eventually, anything tastes good if you make yourself hungry

enough. :) I'd say you're gonna have to toughen yourself up a little,

if you really want to get well.

My 6-year-old nephew is a very picky eater, and my sister-in-law allows

him to dictate what he will eat... and what he chooses is not good. In

the same way, you're going to have to tell your body what it will eat,

and not let it tell YOU! :)

Hi ,

If it's not a protein or a fat, it's a carb. It may be very low in

carbs, but it's a carb. Bee has a list of best carb choices on her

website. Non-starchy veggies are still considered carbs.
