Guest guest
Hi Ballady, I'm sorry to hear of your headaches. I haven't had that reaction to any of the herbals. I used to regularly have headaches (which also came with a lot of muscle tension, light-sensitivity, and nausea), especially in what I know now were past Lyme flare-ups (like many, I went undiagnosed for years). I still wonder if I was having those swelling (brain stem?) issues than can come with Lyme. The only time I've had a headache that bad since I started the CP was recently after eating ice cream (dairy and/or sugar reaction?). The muscle tension flared and quickly went from my back to my shoulders and neck. I didn't do anything for it before I went to bed and I woke up the next morning with nausea added to the mix. The only thing that seems to break me out of any of these headaches is taking Excedrin (which I wouldn't want to do daily or too often) and/or getting a chiropractic adjustment. I don't disagree your headaches could be a herx reaction to one or more of the herbs. Are there any other changes to your diet (food or supplements)? I suppose herxing could also kick up food sensitivities, though I've heard that can just happen anyway with Lyme, herx or not. Any new stresses in your life? (like we don't have enough!) Even being on a new med regimen and having to time even more things can stress me out (though more with pharmaceuticals than naturals, like having to take calcium, etc., away from abx). Spending lots of time sitting at the computer has often flared my muscle tension and led to headaches. I have to remind myself (which I don't do well) to get up and stretch often. This all can be so confusing as there are always so many factors to try to figure out and weigh against each other. Not to mention trying to figure out when it makes sense to see a doc to get checked out (and I totally relate to your feelings on that in a recent post). I hope you feel better soon. Keep us posted. Guest guest
Hi Ballady, I have had severe headaches also. Colonics, enemas and coffee-enemas help me greatly. For me I think its being toxic and herx. These are not fun to have at all. Take care Joyce ballady4 <ballady4@...> wrote: I have started having severe headaches, primarily at the base of my skull since, I think, starting the CP. Guest guest
Thank you Joyce and Ann for your thoughts. Yes,I have had to resort to Excedrin, but limit it to 2 a day in the morning, when it is the most severe. I don't think this due to food or an emotional state. I did develop a cyst on my brain since having Lyme. I was told it was not problematic but every few years or so, when I get these debilitating headaches, I wonder . . . Then again, this one did start around the time I started the herbals so maybe just a reaction to one of them. Ballady > > Hi Ballady, > > I'm sorry to hear of your headaches. Guest guest
Ballady - I have severe headaches quite often with the lyme. It seems monthly, that I am getting meningitis symptoms and cranial nerve involvement.......feel like I am in a constant herx....until once a month it gets even worse. Now every weekend is bringing a herx and brain swelling. I think my body is quite busy killing all of this off! The two things that are helping me the most right now, is lots and lots of magnesium. I am rotating between mag. orotate for my cardiac issues, and mag. glycinate - which does have a nice calming effect on my brain and CNS. The second thing that is really helping, is detox baths. I am basically soaking with epsom salts and sea salt. Yesterday I struggled all day long with headaches and high bp - finally took a bath in the evening, and my bp came right back down and I felt better. It has been working like a charm, but our water is expensive and we don't have a bath filter..........so I cringe about soaking in it, and just pray that no toxins are entering my body, just leaving it. : ) BTW - I have had to resort to a small dose of steroids for my adrenal glands, but feel that it is not significantly suppressing my immune system at this low dose. I am working off the dose completely, and using a single dose of adrenal cortex extract, which I think will be much better - if I can function only using that. I am taking 1 gram of Smilax, Resveratrol, about 2 grams of Cat's Claw daily............and a whole ton of Andrographis, mostly in the form of the Chuan Xin Lian pills, which also contain dandelion root and isatis. These pills help me soooo much. I don't know how many milligrams of andrographis they contain, but it is supposed to be the leading ingredient in them. Also, from an ayurvedic standpoint and your headaches - you would want to be careful about eating too many congestive or " ama " producing type foods. I wanted to add also, that I increased my dose of colostrum the last few days, and am herxing wildly from that. I could tell this new batch I purchased was strong. I couldn't even take one dose of salt/c yesterday. The colostrum is another product that will definitely stimulate your immune system, just like the echinacea product. Whew! Also, echinacea may not be suitable for everyone. For me, because I am a Vata constitution - it makes me very jumpy and causes insomnia and restlessness. Many liver clearing herbs are Vata increasing, because of their nature and energetics. Some definitely impact me more than others. Hope everyone has a great day today!!! Guest guest
Thanks for your thoughts, Jnanda. I know that echinacea is not good for everyone and I have avoided it in the past as well. I may, however, give it a try after reading about it. I also take magnesium glycinate (chelated). It is actually the only magnesium I tolerate well that doesn't result in diarrhea; therefore, I can take large amounts of it. Guest guest
Candida yeast can cause a host of negative side effects when LDN treatment is started. So can gluten and dairy and lyme disease.
