Wow, 1400 isn't much. You could be getting some water weight gain. You will

usually get that at the start and it will fluctuate with estradiol and sodium

intake. At 100mg/week you shouldn't get much unless you are converting a lot to

estradiol.

Subject: Can't lose weight on test cyp?

For about six months I've been eating 1400 calories/day with 1 cheat day a week,

and losing an average of 2 pounds/week. 3 weeks ago I've started at 100mg of

testosterone cypionate/2 weeks. I got rid of my cheat days but I still can't

lose any weight. I've lost 1 pound in 3 weeks--and I still have a good amount to

lose. Any ideas what is going on?

Hi Koala and Welcome,

I don't know why your not losing more weight but I can tell you your not doing

enough Test C at 100 mgs. every 2 weeks. This is going to keep your levels down

and by your next shot your going to feel like you really need it.

Do this go to www.allthingsmale.com and read TRT: A recipe for success and the

HCG update by Dr. he puts this out there free for you and your Dr.

In this you will see he starts new men on 100 mgs every week.

Here is What you need to do get your Total T levels up into the upper 1/3 of

your labs range and keep your Estradiol levels down to about 20 pg/ml.

Then as your leveled off in time your body will undo the damage done from having

low T. You will start to feel a little better everyday it's a slow process.

Most men will hold some water until they level off on TRT. So you might have

lose more weight but put on some water.

i am under the impression, estradial is the culprit. Estrogen requires fat to

be stored, and with extra estrogen, your body will

put on fat to store it. I have good luck with fifty mgs weekly and use Altraz,

arimidex to keep my estrogen count down. I take half a pill daily until my

night time erections become firm, then lay off until I begin to lose night time

erections, then begin again.

You can order from alldaychemist.com, they have the best prices, but their

shipping is high, so order a lot when you do to justify the costs.

It may well be, that a hundred bi-weekly, of " T " shots which is a relatively hi

dose, is causing your estrogen count to be high, over thirty, in which case your

body is holding onto the fat to keep the estrogen.

I have good luck losing weight, taking hundred fifty units of HCG nightly, it

keeps my T count in good order, and does not raise my estrogen count. But it is

relatively easy for me to lose weight. I also cut most of the carbs out, bread

potatoes etc. Like the Atkins Diet, although I am told the south sea diet is

also very good. I take a dose of whey, milk protein, for breakfast, mixed with

water for that meal, obviously buy the low fat type. It keeps the hunger pains

away until lunch.

I spent ten years working with diets, this was before we had a drug to lower

estrogen, out of a huge curiousity, I would like to hear back as to how you are

doing, thanks

I believe you have hit on a key component of men's health related to hormonal

treatment.Get lean and stay that way.I went fron sloppy fat 275 lbs to 190lbs

with good muscle definition. Not by exercise but by reducing carbs to almost

nothing.I eat around a 80% fat diet with most of the rest being protein.A few

carbs in eggs and seafood.I have arimidex but have found it not to be

needed.Just no excess fat to aromatize the testosterone.I would suspect my fat %

to have dropped from low 30 " s to around 12-14%.Having a big belly is exactly

what we don't need.Break that vicious cycle. And I lost all the fat before I

began TRT.If this lazy 54y/o can do it,anyone can.Just cut the carbs

out, exercise for fun only not to burn calories, and watch the results. You will

be amazed. Phil

I've gone from 237 to 177, but it is frustrating that now even though I am

eating less (and I do intense aerobic exercise 3x a week, which is all I have

energy for) I am losing MUCH less weight.

Phil, I'm all too aware that my dosage of test cyp isn't high enough. The

problem is that I'm 25, so doctors are really hesitant to treat me (even though

my total test is 204.) I have some bloodwork and a followup appointment in a few

weeks, I'm hoping that he will see my total test is still too low and increase

the dosage (I also want to increase it to once/week.)

You are going about things wrong and have a lot of reading to do regarding

conditioning. You need a weight regiment if you want to see real results. I

would suggest reading up on " Crossfit " or Crossfit style exercises/workouts.

That's a good place to start. You're not doing much good for yourself by being

calorie deficient especially combined with aerobic exercise. 2 big no no's!!

I am losing weight by cutting way down on the carbs. No junk food, no soda, no

baked goodies. I think the biggest thing is to include a couple of protein

shakes a day to get the needed protein. I don't lift a lot of free weight (Curls

are the exception), instead I do push ups, pull ups, squats, toe lifts, doing

sprints on the stationary bike. I learned of the plank position a few days ago,

from the Mark Sisson's site, and tried tried it yesterday. This exercise really

works your core. I will be doing this from now on instead of sit ups. I could

only hold it for 30 seconds and will gradually build up to 90 seconds. Awesome

exercise. Check out Mark Sisson's Blog. He has video's on how to do what he call

the 5 basic primal routines. He has recipes, and a forum. Great site. He is 56,

and ripped.

The lower you get in weight the harder it is to take more off. I was looking

into going on the HCG Diet and posting about it at Dr. 's forum. As it

turns out some of the guys over there did this diet and lost about a lb. a day.

But my Dr.'s tell me I can go on this diet. They started a thread about there

HCG diet and post to it every day some men are down a lot of weight in a short

time.

At your age this is when your normal levels are there highest. Did they do

testing to see why your so low. One big problem men have with low T is finding

a good Dr. when you see Dr.'s that talk like that you need to run from them.

They are not up on this and when you don't start to feel better they will send

you to see an Endo if your not seeing one now and they are not good at this.

I my self went down this road you suffer for yrs seeing the wrong Dr. and when

you find a good one you say to your self why did I wait and suffer like this.

We have a Database Section here with the names of Dr.'s men here see go there

and see if one is near you. Also read in the files section " Finding a New Male

Hormone Dr.

You can go from Forum to Forum and read a Stick about finding a better Dr.

Hi Phil, first I went to a GP and now an endo. They did run a lot of tests to

figure out why. Even did an MRI to check out my pituitary (which was fine.) The

unfortunate thing is that I can't afford the better doctors, I am a 'poor'

student and I really need to see people that my insurance will pay for.

While you might think that it is better if I do it your way, I'm very happy with

the 50 pounds that I've lost and saying that I'm doing it wrong and haven't done

much good for myself is asinine. I do aerobic exercise to increase my stamina,

and it has worked. At this point, and especially with these testosterone levels,

I have no desire whatsoever to do strength training.

Phil, thanks for all the info. Do you know if this HCG diet is using injections?

I think the one with the 'drops' that you take orally is a scam because your

digestive system would just break it down. I also think the main reason for the

weight loss is probably the 500 calorie/day intake.

I did end up dropping 1.7 pounds this week, so it looks like things might be

back on track.

Well for 1. I don't think it's better I know it's better and 2. It's for sure

not " my way " as I didn't invent the science of the body.

Your way obviously quit working or else you would not have started this thread.

I'm trying to give you advice to help you out and if you choose not to take it I

could care less, however, if you want to take your fitness to the next level

I'll be more than happy to offer advice. Ever stop to think that the aerobic

exercise may be zapping the test that you are putting into your body? Ever

wonder why runners have huge test issues?

Yes low T is a curse but if we have to live with it it can also be considered a

gift. If I have to deal with this injection bullshit, which I do, you can rest

assured that I am going to strength train to take advantage of the benefits of

it. Of course I could go run marathons and wonder, by my own science, why I'm

not getting the benefits, or I could choose to (and I do) follow real science

about what really works concerning diet and exercise.

As far as having no desire to work out I totally understand and have been there.

You need to get a good doc and get your levels sorted out. Once you do you can

choose to follow your own science or real science. Whatever road you pick, best

wishes.

It has nothing to do with my way not working, it was working up until the week I

took a testosterone shot and then it stopped. I just did my weekly weigh in and

I'm losing weight again.

You may be trying to give me advice, but saying that I'm " doing it wrong " and

" not doing much good for yourself " is pretty extreme and inaccurate.

I know that aerobic excercise can lower testosterone, but I don't think 3x

weekly for 30 intense minutes is enough to do it. All of the studies that I have

read said 45-60 minutes is required.

If you want to give me advice I'm glad to take it, but phrasing it as " you're

wrong I'm right " is childish. We all have different goals. And you really think

that there is no science behind cutting calories and increasing exercise to lose

weight?

You seem very hyper-sensitive. You may seriously want to check out your

estradiol levels!

Yes of course there is science behind a calorie deficient diet. Very simple

science...you starve yourself, your body uses muscle tissue for fuel, along with

a little fat, therefore reducing your lean muscle mass and messing up your

metabolism. If you're happy with that then more power to you but it's not a

roller coaster ride that I would ever want to deal with! There is a reason that

men that are healthy with lean muscle mass tend to feel great and energetic, and

fat/skinny fat people don't. Again, not telling you how to live but just stating

some facts.

So let's start over...What exactly are your goals? Also, what is a HONEST

example of your daily diet? Most people lie to themselves about this so be real

about it.

I understand this can you get copies of your labs and post them with the ranges

and units when they come in. If you had a head injury in some time in your life

this can cause your Pituitary to not work right later in life. The more you

learn about this the better off you will be with Dr.'s some times when you ask

the right questions you get them thinking.

We have a files and links section at the home page full of info about this

problem go there and read if you find some thing you don't understand just ask.

It is very hard for me to do aerobic exercise so I use the weight room to get

exercise. But when your T levels fall off it hard to get any exercise.

You need to read what the Dr. says the started up this diet.

http://4hcgsuccess.com/hcg-protocol

From what I understand about it is the HCG makes your body use your stored fat

to live on. So your doing a 500 cal. diet just the way the Dr. says to do and

your body goes to living off your fat so your not hungry your fat with the 500

cal. food you eat your living off about 1500 cals counting your fat. People say

they are not hungry on this and yes they do a shot of HCG every morning read the

Download PDF about it.

Ed, I'm having the same success losing weight by restricting carbs.  I recently

switched from 5 workouts per week to once weekly, and I'm still losing weight.

I also haven't had to use Arimidex for a while now.

Great site. He is 56,

and ripped.

Sorry, we got off on the wrong foot. I suppose I'm a bit defensive because I

feel like I've worked my ass for six months to lose the weight so I don't want

to be told I didn't help myself at all. I was very unhealthy at 237!

My goal for now is just to lose weight. After I lose the weight (and hopefully

by then I'll have stable testosterone levels), I want to work on putting on some

muscle.

Example Daily diet:

Six skinless chicken thighs

Vegetable soup

Granola bar

Peanut bar

1400 calories

Fat 34g

Carbs 64g

Protein 165g

I eat about 8 times a day. I also take a good multivitamin, calcium, and vitamin

D.

started at 100mg of testosterone cypionate/2 weeks. I got rid of my cheat days

but I still can't lose any weight. I've lost 1 pound in 3 weeks--and I still

have a good amount to lose. Any ideas what is going on?

Yes, for a little over a month.

On your test of 4/21/10 if you had sex or an orgasm I think it's 2 days before

them labs this might be why your Prolactin is above top of the range. If not

this could well be a Pituitary Problem. And your LH on labs of 6/25/10 is below

the normal range. And your Estradiol was not very high on your first set of

labs.

This tells me you have a Pituitary Problem it's called Hypopituitary I have this

due to a head injury it only took me 23 yrs to figure this out.

Now I feel you need all the hormones tested that are controlled by your

Pituitary. Here is a link to a closed forum where I got a lot of help when I

figured this all out.

Today I need to treat my low Testosterone, Cortisol, Thyroid, Ferritin,

Aldosterone, Renin and Growth Hormone levels. And keep my Estradiol levels

down.

You can tell better on your Growth Hormones by testing IFG-1 levels.
