Guest guest
, I had to stop Androgel because of the cost. I inject because it's so much cheaper. I would like to get away from the needles and more than that, get the consistency of daily application (fewer hills and valleys). You mentioned your compounded cream only cost $30/month which is easliy affordable. My question is; did you ever use Androgel and if so, how well does the cream work when compared to Androgel? Androgel seemed to work pretty well for me. Make sure that you tell them that your household is of one person and that you do not work. Here are details on the program. Before you apply, please tell your doctor to write you prescription for 10 grams a day, since your prior history shows that you will not respond to 5 grams a day anyway. Testim only gets absorbed 23% better than Androgel (not double like your doctor may be thinking). You will need to send the Testim patient assistance people your prescription (or have your doc send it). You should not have to pay to see the doc again! A phone call should be enough. Program Name Auxilium Patient Assistance Program Program Address 40 Valley Stream Parkway Malvem, PA 19355 Phone Number 877-663-0412 Fax Number 866-837-7293 Medications on Program Testim 1% Gel 1% gel 50 mg (testosterone topical) Application Forms Auxilium Patient Assistance Program: www.needymeds.org/papforms/auxili0462.pdf Online Application No on-line application available at this time Eligibility Guidelines and Notes The patient must have no prescription coverage for the requested medication and have an income at or below $23,660 per individual, $29,140 for 2 people, $36,620 for 3 people, $44,100 for 4 people, etc. The patient must have a diagnosis of hypogonadism. The patient must also reside in the US . Patients must be male. Patients who were eligible for Medicare Part D, but did not enroll may still be eligible for this program. Patients who enrolled in Medicare Part D, but are in the Donut Hole are not eligible. Applicants that do not qualify under the program’s set criteria may still apply by completing the “Hardship Exception Request†section of the application form. Application Process Anyone requesting assistance can call to request a faxed application or download it from the website. The application will be faxed out. The completed application must be mailed back. The patient is notified of eligibility for the program. The decision is made at meetings that occur approximately every month. (Speak to the company for specifics.) The medication is shipped within 4-6 weeks of receiving the application. Application Requirements The doctor must fill out a section, sign the application and attach a prescription for 6 months. The patient must fill out a section, sign the application and attach a denial letter from Medicaid. Program Details A six-month supply is sent to the doctor's office. The company automatically sends out refills. Every six months a new application is needed with a new prescription, once a year an application with documentation is needed. Option 2: Get a prescription for a compounded testosterone gel (5 percent testosterone works great for me). They usually cost $30 a month compared to the outrageous cost of Testim and Androgel of close to $700 a month for 10 grams a day. The prescription is written like this: Testosterone gel/cream 5 percent 30 mL in Topi-Click, 1 mL a day. I find the Topi-Click container to be a very easy way to administer the daily dose. You can also order the gel in a large graduated plastic syringe if you want to precise on your dose). I use APSMEDS.com since they have the cheapest price. For blood work, some people with no insurance monitor themselves by using labs that do not require a doctor's prescription: http://www.privatemdlabs.com/index.php You can see their tests and costs in that web site. Input your zip code and it will tell you the labs in your area. You can then post the results on this list and we can help you out, Estradiol and free/total testostosterone, and a complete blood count with differential (CBC) is all you need to monitor yourself after the first two weeks and then every three months. I hope this helped. Regards, Vergel http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B003E3RYKY Regards, Vergel PoWeRUSA.org

Guest guest
I could not get my total testosterone above 500 nanograms/dl with 10 grams of Androgel or Testim. But I liked Androgel better since you can get it in a pump that enables you to control the dose up to whatever you want. And Testim's smell was so unbearable to me (I hate cologne). The compounded gel was great because I ordered 5% instead of the 1% testosterone found in Androgel or Testim, so I need very little gel to spread on my abs and shoulders. But I started having weak urine flow with gels. Gels can convert into DHT and estradiol more than injections or pellets, specially in older men who have higher fat content. If I had to use a gel, I would use a compounded 5-10 % one. But many doctors are so freaked out about prescribing compounded products, so most people are stuck with Androgel or Testim. I hope they approve Aveed soon so that we can inject every three months with this testosterone undecanoate product that has been used for years in Mexico and Europe. But one 1000 mg shot will cost more than $150 (that is what I paid in Mexico, where meds are a lot cheaper than in the US). When I used it, my mood and sexual function was so stable and it felt good not to have to inject so frequently. Guest guest
when you first tried Nebido did it work and last your 3 months. Men I talk to in the UK say it did not last and they needed to get in after 4 to 6 weeks and get more. They say it works but you need to build up to it's lasting 3 months. When I was on Androgel and Testim I had the same problems I could not get my levels over 500 and my Dr. was even giving me 200 mgs shot of Test C every 2 weeks on top of this. My DHT went up so high it was 3x's over the top of the range. My prostate was going nuts and my joints and muscles were killing me. For some men the gel going through the skin dose not support there joints and muscles. When I switched to Test C shots my pain was gone. I had so much pain I was house bound. Today I do about 200 mgs of Test C a week but I do it every 3 days 80 mgs I find this keeps me more leveled helps keep my blood thinner and holds down my Estradiol levels. I like the idea of pellets but can't find a Dr. that knows how to do them right. All the Dr.'s in my town will only give you 700 mgs of pellets that your lucky if they last you 4 weeks for the cost of about $1500 for the first office, labs, pellets and putting them in. Then after 4 weeks I was back for more my levels went low cost $500 more. Dr.'s here in the USA are ripping men off for pellets. From taking to men here and at other forums men over 200 lbs need about 1500 mgs of pellets to last 3 months.
