Guest guest
Today I had some blood tests for another condition and my Liver enzymes were elevated. They came in at 45 which is high. Does anyone know if TRT or DIM could cause this elevation.
Guest guest
DIM can increase the metabolism of other drugs you may be taking. I'm also unable to find any reputable information on DIM causing liver problems. ________________________________ From: mikerizzo2007 <mikerizzo2007@...> Sent: Wed, April 7, 2010 8:05:57 PM Subject: DIM and Liver enzymes  Today I had some blood tests for another condition and my Liver enzymes were elevated. Guest guest
Dr. aka SWALE talked about DIM and the us of TMG at MESO. http://forum.mesomorphosis.com/mens-health-forum/question-about-dim-i3c-13423543\ 2.html ==================================================== Quote: Originally Posted by Your Endo How is DIM and indole-3-carbinol supposed to effect E1, E2, and E3 levels? Does it lower E2 or does it just affect the 2-hydroxyestrone to 16-alpha-hydroxyestrone ratio? Diindolylmethane (DIM) is a naturally occurring substance found primarily in cruciferous vegetables (e.g., cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, etc.) that helps the P450 system in the liver digest/metabolize Estradiol (E2) into more benign/healthy estrogens (2-hydroxy's). DIM is not very bioavailable when taken orally; however, Indolplex is a proprietary formulation that significantly increases DIM's oral bioavailability. Since E2 is the dominant Estrogen, it is often referred to in the literature simply as Estrogen. Since DIM helps the body eliminate E2, it's often called an anti-estrogen. In actuality, DIM probably increases total estrogen, but by shifting the mix from E2 to the 2-hydroxy's. The net result is an increase in total Estrogens, but a significant decrease in the " estrogenic effect. I'll defer to Swale on that question. ---------------------------------------------------- TMG functions as a methyl donor by giving up a methyl to become DMG. The hope is that methylation potentiates 2-OH and attenuates 4-OH. ---------------------------------------------------- Sorry, what is 4-OH and 2-OH? Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------- 4-hydroxyestrone and 2-hyrdoxyestrone. 4-OH is the bad stuff and 2-OH is the good stuff. ==================================================== http://forum.mesomorphosis.com/mens-health-forum/do-we-need-add-134236519.html ---------------------------------------------------- Doing DIM to keep E2 down Dr. feels you need to add TMG with the DIM here is what he said " We should remember that DIM also increases the level of the dangerous 4-OHE as well as improving 2-OHE/16-alpha-OHE. Thus it should not be taken without DMG, or preferably TMG, to wash the 4-OHE downstream in its metabolic pathway. Folic acid helps as well. Guest guest
I really don't understand if this is related to the DIM or not. Could TRT cause elevated liver enzymes? > > DIM can increase the metabolism of other drugs you may be taking. I'm also unable to find any reputable information on DIM causing liver problems. > > > > > ________________________________ > From: mikerizzo2007 <mikerizzo2007@...> > > Sent: Wed, April 7, 2010 8:05:57 PM > Subject: DIM and Liver enzymes > >  > Today I had some blood tests for another condition and my Liver enzymes were elevated. Guest guest
Nope. The package insert for Androgel, Testim, test cyp, etc. say so because of throw-backs to the old days of steroid usage, as they do not know the difference between liver toxic methyltestosterone and non-oral testosterone.
