Low T is just one of the many horrible sides caused by statins--memory

loss, cognitive impairment, muscle damage, etc. are other biggies...

The jury is still out on statins. What really causes cardiovascular disease? I

took them for a while because my triglcerides were high and HDL was low.Overall

choelesterol was borderline high.Quit them and now eat 80% saturated fat diet

for past 1 1/2 years.No fruit or vegeatable matter.Just meat.Triglcerides are in

30's HDL over 100 and VLDP have bottomed out.My dr just shakes his head and says

it goes against everything he has been taught but continue on.And going from

sloppy fat 270 to a lean 190 is a bonus.I'm no nutrition expert but I suspect we

may been told some bogus info by deep pockets (drug companies) for a long

time.Maybe it's not the fat ot high total cholesterol. What about the processed

carbs with resultant high triglceride levels.Resulting in an inflammatory

reponse in out vessels and leading to plaque buildup.Low fat diet and statins

just kept me fat and soft.Just one mans opinion.Phil

I never had bad labs for Chol. yet I needed Heart By-Pass Sugary. Dr.'s tell me

it was the low hormones that might have done this yet they keep me on Statins

and my labs now are below normal and Dr.'s are happy with them.

I may decide to run a little experiment on myself before I start TRT.I was

thinking of going off the statins for a few months and then retesting my T

levels to see if they have improved. If I start on TRT right now there will be

no way to see if the statins caused my T levels to drop.

If you want to check you better do it now,......after you start you will never

know as you said.

I am also trying to find out all I can first, but I can't keep feeling this way

for many more months. The fatigue is absolutely unbelievable to me.

Everything I have to do that is physical makes me feel shot in the rear when I

am done. This sucks for sure.

I told my doctor years ago the the Statins were killing my sex drive.

He said a lower sex drive was better than dying, so I keep taking 1/2 of the

dose of Lipitor. The other brands seemed worse.

http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2005/nov2005_aas_01.htm

get your pregnenolone levels tested.

The body converts some of the Cholesterol into Pregnenolone.

Pregnenolone is the grandfather of hormones. It converts into DHEA &

progesterone.

DHEA converts into testosterone, estrogen & other hormones in the downward

chain.

progesterone trys to balance the correct ratio of T to E

Maybe our bodies do not convert enough Cholesterol into pregnenolone. maybe

that is why our hormone are messed up & the cholesterol is high.

This is my amateur research on the subject.

I am now taking some pregnenolone 25mg tablets to see if it helps.

Yikes. Please read books like this

and go to websites like this _http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/_

Almost nobody should be on statins.

The creams work much better as per Dr. .

The above is all I could find on a cream but Dr. sells it to his men he

gets it compounded if he can so can you.

Hi,

there are alternatives to statins to keeping your blood flowing! for me it's

oatmeal every morning and 1/4 aspirin eod.

I don't consider a low libido acceptable, if I did I wouldn't be sticking myself

3 times a week (1 test, 2 hcg)...

I could -survive- with a low test level and a minimal libido but I wouldn't be

LIVING.

These last few weeks wife and I have been down to making love once a week due to

asthma/allergies and end-of-school-year grief and that's been just barely

living...

anything less than 3 times a week is barely living!
