There are many reasons for headaches...TMJ...neck muscle tension...hormone

imbalances...etc.

It's wonderful to hear that you feel a difference with the headaches since

starting LDN...however with headaches as frequently as you describe...well...if

it were me I'd like to know WHY I was getting them / what the source

was....especially since you describe a difference in you eyes and and a drooping

eye lid. I think a consult with your doctor is a good idea...

Best wishes..

Robin, I used to get migraines sometimes a couple times a month prior to LDN. Since starting LDN in May '07, I've only had TWO and they were a result of sinus issues. Months had gone by before I had realized my migraines has disappeared! Coincidence?? I don't think so. JMHO.Janet KunselmanFrom: Robin Little <robinlittile@...>Subject: [low dose naltrexone] LDN effect on migraines?low dose naltrexone Date: Sunday, April 19, 2009, 8:32 PM

I am starting my third week on 2 mgs of LDN. I take it for auto-immune issues, fatigue etc.I have noticed one thing very distinctly. My "migraines" (undiagnosed) are getting weaker and weaker. The frequency is the same (a lot) but now they are to where I can function very nicely. Duration is way down too.

The right eye is still involved with a little blurriness, and a feeling of the eye being 'sick' or weak, and the lid is droopy. It seems a little smaller then the left one too.I do not believe this can happen in the case of a true migraine, can it?

Is this headache I have been calling a migraine really something else?Anyone out there with experience like this?-- Warmest Regards,Robin Little

Janet, did your symptoms sound like mine? Did your eye on one side act up?Did you get relief soon after starting LDN?And how is migraine diagnosed? Is there a test? Or does the doctor go by your symptoms?

I don't get the headaches anymore, either. What a relief. I would get very bad

sore spots on my head that felt like bruising and eventually it would turn into

a headache, that sometimes I would have to litteraly pack my head in ice at

times. I have FMS & MPS and RA that is in remission. I started out on 3mgs of

LDN 5/08 and 4.5mgs in 11/08. It was actually when I went to the 4.5mgs that

they subsided totally. actually, the headaches were the worst part of my

illness as they would last for days. So yes, I do believe that the LDN has

played a part in the headaches going away and they were a part of whatever

" ails " me.

No I haven't seen a neurologist or any kind of doctor. (no health insurance)That's why I thought maybe I was hasty in calling them migraines.I have another one today, pretty bad one, at least in relation to how they have been since starting LDN. I have the ice pack to the head, jaw and neck.

I do have the aura, but it is usually a strange, sweet smell, then I notice my eye starting to get weird, then the BOOM comes. They used to last 3 days.Sometimes I can blame it on weight loss. Since yesterday I have lost two pounds. That means (possibly) that I have lost a lot of water, OR that I actually burned some fat and that released some excess estrogen. I think either of these can cause a headache in me.

Anyway, thanks to everyone who commented on this for me. It is one of the biggest issues I have to deal with, and I am hoping LDN will straighten it out eventually.-- Warmest Regards,Robin Little

Re: LDN effect on migraines?   Posted by: " Janet Kunselman "   janetkunselman@...     janetkunselman   Tue Apr 21, 2009 3:13 am (PDT)   Hi Robin,

My symptoms were the " aura " you get just as a migraine is coming

on.  Then BOOM, headache.  I had pain for a whole week afterwards.  I

was dxed by my symptoms only.  I hate to admit it, but when I'd get

that " aura " symptom, it was best for me to pop 3 advil and chug them

down with Mountain Dew.  Something with the cafeine helped thwart it

off a bit..

As far as the LDN helping, I can't remember how soon it occurred

to me the migraines had stopped.  Have you seen a neurologist about

your symptoms?  That would be a wise thing to do just to rule out

anything else more serious.

Good Luck,

Janet
