Guest guest
I think I may have been on digest, I missed some of the posts, browsing. Did it help you? Did they shoot the dye? and did they do the tx the same time they shot the dye? -dz- --- Dennis <dhuber@...> wrote: > Hi DZ, > > Did you see my post about the laser eye treatment I > had? > > Dennis > __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Dave, This stuff was kind of scary to me. A bunch of years ago I had some distorted vision so I went to the eye dr. She said it was floaters and I said no take another look - so she did with some magnifying instrument. Then she said " Oh yes there is something - I want you to see a specialist " The specialist was a real eye doctor and gave me the exam you had. I had histoplasmosis on the retina of my left eye. It was a cluster of tiny blood vessels - kind of like a blister. If they break your vision may well be impaired. The next step was to cauterize them with a laser. And, like you, the area was right close to the macula. When he performed the laser treatment he had me focus on a tiny light in front of my face to keep my eyes still but my eyes kept crossing. He got real mad and finally drew a black spot on the wall with a felt tip marker. I could focus fine on that fine. I had 30 or so zaps and they didn't hurt. Now I have a scarred area there and it is a blank spot. If I close my right eye while driving, the area of oncoming traffic is a gray spot. (I make sure to wink at the girls with my left eye). It was an experience and so far hasn't changed. It sounds like they have perfected laser treatment quite a bit since then. www.about.com has some info on this. They say it is important to take care of this as soon as possible. I can't remember if he used the dye when he did the cauterization or not. Good luck with this Dave. You might want to take a black marker with you. :-) Dennis Re: [ ] Laser Eye Treatment >I think I may have been on digest, I missed some of >the posts, browsing. Did it help you? Guest guest
Thanks, Dennis. It sounds very similar to what I have going on. About 15 years ago I went to the dr with blurry vision. He found the scar and did the dye test at that time. It was not active then. He suspected I had sufferred some unknown trauma to cause the scar. Apparently some fluid had leaked in, but must have disapated. He gave me an Amsler grid to look at and told me that if there was any change I should see him. Now if I look at the grid (it's just a cross pattern of lines with a dot in the center) the very center of the grid is significantly blurred. If I close my good eye, I cannot read this email. I can see peripherally, but the dead center of my focus is blurred. --- Dennis <dhuber@...> wrote: > Hi Dave, > > This stuff was kind of scary to me.
