There's a good article on diagnosing and treating cavus foot in the January

issue of Biomechanics Magazine, available online at

http://www.biomech.com/db_area/archives/2001/0101orthoses.55.bio.html

Cavus foot is the $2 term for the high arch condition so common to CMT'ers

that leads to walking on the outside of the foot. Diagnosis of the exact

form of the condition leads to different treatments, some of them can be

pretty effective according to the article. A couple of important points -

shoe inserts that " support " a high arch may do more harm than good and some

surgical treatments have high failure rates.

You'll need a degree in medical terminology to understand all of the

article, but I think it's informative for nearly anyone with CMT.

Hi Peggy,

thank you for the advice on my batch of soap.

another lady mentioned I might not have added enough water :-( . I wish I

knew how to use those lye calculators, but I am deficient when it comes to

math and numbers Im afraid so I relied on another recipe I got on a site and

added the shea myself.

I will try to figure out the calculator though thanks again it sure helps to

have people access this recipe who have knowledge.

I have to say todayd the soap smells great and looks pretty dull in the

lavender color<LOL>

Smiles,

bev

Emerald, try the www.soapmaking.com website. They have a pretty straight forward

lye calculator. You just plug in the

oil amounts you want to use and then the % of superfatting you want, that's it!

Just click the calculate button and it

tells you how much lye and water to use. It also allows you choose your mold

size, if you use a uniform mold. LMK if you

need any help. I like to use people's recipes too, but am learning quickly that

sometimes it's best to choose one base

recipe for your cp and play around with color and superfatting and fragrances

rather than base oils.

(sometimes experience is hard learned. haha)

best to you,

Peggy :)

In a message dated 04/25/2001 4:30:46 AM Eastern Daylight Time, candidiasis writes:

“The most important question the doctor never asks:

‘How many times do you go to the bathroom?’â€

QUESTION: Are most people constipated? SETERS: Most people are, but they don't see it that way. Men will say, “No, I'm not constipated, I have one bowel movement a day.†Women will say, “I'm not constipated, I have a bowel movement every other day.†But these are false interpretations of constipation. If you don't have a bowel movement after every meal, you're constipated. This means a good 90% or more of the people are constipated.

I've heard of that - and told my parents. They said "Bull****" (literally?) if you went that many times in a day you'd be dehydrated. But it makes sense to me, this post.

,

We use the spin brush w/my son. He likes the sensation & that way we are

only teaching him to push back & forth, not up & down as well. Have you

tried other toothpastes w/your son? Is there one he likes to eat? Clearly

eating the paste isn't the goal, but if he likes the taste, he might be more

willing to have the brush in his mouth. When my son first started brushing

(I'd do it), he would let the brush in just so he could chew on it - a

sensory thing.

Hi Turk,

Thanks for the welcome. I used to write more several years ago when I was on

the Zapper site BB. I always read everything here but am not good about

touching base. I just had my AICD replaced - fourth time. Everything went just

fine -- even much better than expected. The Dr. didn't have to make changes to

the lead system and he was thinking this may be needed. I go back for the

post-op checkup on Friday. He's is thinking about doing catheter ablation for

my atril flutter now. I had HIS bundle or A-V node ablation and a pacemaker

placed in 1991. The pacer was replaced again in 1998. I was hoping this time

that I might be able to be " fitted " with a combo defibrillator and pacemaker but

it didn't go that way. Maybe sometime down the road. Can anyone enlighten me

or give us their opinions

about the process of catheter ablation for A-flutter? I enjoy this site alot

and will try to be better about keeping in touch.

Sue P.
