Guest guest
I do 10mgs at about 5 to 6am then go back to bed. I get up at 8am and feel great I take 5mgs at 9am when I eat. Then at about 11am I go to the gym I get home about 12:30 pm and eat at 1pm and take 10 mgs this keeps me out of trouble after a workout. I then do 5 mgs at 6 pm. Before doing this dose 30 mgs a day after a workout I would need to add more HC it's called stress dosing. If you feel the need to do this your over doing it in the gym. If you feel weak and shaky and sick to your stomach after a workout of Even working outside your over doing it. If your not over doing it and feel like this you need more then the support dose of 20 mgs a day. Read this FAQ's about AF I helped with at STTM site. The link is in this the first bullet. Guest guest
Thanks Phil. I don't really think I need more but was just wondering as far as adrenal healing goes if timing it different would help? ________________________________ From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> Sent: Sun, December 6, 2009 9:07:10 AM Subject: Re: Pre or Post Workout HC? Guest guest
Taking HC or Cortef does not heal the adrenals it supports them your brain sees the HC in your body and slows down sending the ACTH to your Adrenals and they don't work so hard and this is how they heal. So be careful working out not to over do it doing this will keep your adrenals from healing and if you have a lot of stress in your life fix it. I cannot tell you the best time but when I used to work out, my heart rate would never return to my pre-workout resting rate even after waiting for up to 8 hours. Cardiologist had no clue as to why. I thought that perhaps I was just not very fit or at least my heart wasn't that fit. I would take additional beta blocker drugs to bring my heart rate down after a workout and that would take about 2 hours for it to take affect. However, after starting HC a while ago, I leaned that if I take HC before the workout, that my heart rate would drop back to the normal resting rate within 15 minutes or less after a workout. I can only conclude that my adrenals are not producing enough cortisol to handle the stress of exercise. For me, I vote for pre-workout. -- Steve - dudescholar4@... Guest guest
Taking HC before a work I get the best workouts available. I am finding thought that taking HC that one may want to increae their glutamin content to about 10 grams a day do prevent muscle break down potential from cortisol. The cortisol/dhea ration needs also be taken in consideration when maintaining an anabolic/catabolic ratio. > > I just got to thinking today about my HC dosing. Guest guest
If your on HC for AF and take it every 4 hrs yes if you time your workout to just after you take your dose it helps. I don't do this because there are a lot of times I am OK after a workout. I take a 5mg dose of Cortef at 9am go to the gym at 11:30am and eat by 1pm I take my next dose then and if I over did it or did not recover this does the job. You can stress your Adrenals working out but how bad varies from workout to workout bottom line is to be on enough HC to support your adrenals. One way to tell is to follow your Temps. This link tells how and you can print a chart so you can keep track. I would take my temp after being up 3hrs. then every 3 hrs. 3x's a day. I then add them up and div. by 3 this is your avg. if your temps go up or down he avg. your adrenals are not being supported on your dose of HC. When you first go on HC you need to start low and work your way up to 5 mgs 4x's a day. Start with 2.5 mgs and go up 2.5 mgs every 5 days until your at 20 mgs total. Chart your temps avg. it can take a month or two to get supported. After your supported you find with your workout or do work out side you don't recover. You feel weak, shaky, sick to your stomach and just feel like you need to lay down. You need to stress dose to over come this take an extra 5 mgs every 30 min's up to 20 mgs or until you recover if you don't recover go to the ER. If you find you need to stress dose a lot then your 20 mgs a day is not enough go up 5 mgs. Most don't feel great when they wake so if your like this do 10 mgs. Here is the link to track your temps. http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph In this link is the best parts from Dr. Jeffries book " Safe Uses of Cortisol " he even talks about taking extra HC to stop the flu. A cut and paste from this link. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/safe-uses/ Dr. Jeffries is the last word on taking HC. ========================================================================== VIRAL INFECTIONS 36) Patients with acute influenza were treated in the same manner in which patients with chronic adrenal insufficiency were treated when they developed acute infections. Cortisol, 20 mg. by mouth four times daily before meals and at bedtime, was started. Patients were instructed to continue this dosage until they felt well, then decrease to 10 mg. four times daily for two days, then 5 mgs.four times daily for two days, then stopped. Clinical responses were striking. Within 24 hours, all patients felt much better, and within 48 hours symptoms such as fever, malaise, and generalized aching had completely subsided, and they felt quite well. The initial dosage of cortisol was decreased after 48 hours and discontinued after six days of therapy. No relapse or complications occurred. 136 Co-Moderator Phil > > I just got to thinking today about my HC dosing. Guest guest
Thanks HANS. I use to always at least take glutamine after a workout. I am going to pick some up again. ________________________________ From: hardasnails1973 <hardasnails1973@...> Sent: Tue, December 8, 2009 6:43:16 AM Subject: Re: Pre or Post Workout HC? Guest guest
Thanks Phil. I use to feel very sick right after a hard workout. Now with the HC I still naturally feel tired but not sick. I can really start to feel any overtraining now that I listen to my body more. I back off a little for a week and I am good to go. ________________________________ From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> Sent: Tue, December 8, 2009 9:25:42 AM Subject: Re: Pre or Post Workout HC?
