Guest guest
Joe: It seems to me that you have an very complex program of self medication and self diagnosis going on. Taking all that stuff can really muddy the waters and make an accurate diagnosis impossible. Mercury chelation? What makes you think you need that? Were you exposed to mercury in your work? Do you have more mercury in your system than the rest of us, or did you just read something somewhere that lead you down that path? If you were properly diagnosed with some condition years ago and are searching for better treatment, that is one thing, but if you are shopping around for a self diagnosis and treating your condition from the herbal supermarket, my opinion (you DID ask for it) is that you are damaging yourself. My recommendation is to get off those herbals for about 3 months and get to a real doctor for some tests. It seems that HC is the only thing that really helps adrenal problems and herbs are more or less hit or miss. After saliva tests at Canary Club that showed I had very low cortisol, I started HC in 3/2009 and worked p to 30-40 mg daily. I was taking 10 mg HC for quite a while, thinking I could possibly wean off it, but I could not. I've been on HC for about 18 months. Would it be a good idea for me to increase it now to 30+ mg daily? I feel that I need it in order to proceed with mercury chelation for another year to 18 months or so. > > I'm taking my temps for a few days. Guest guest
Joe you might need to be on this HC for life I am. Here is some links to read about this I might have posted them to you before but don't remember. I am on TRT and alot of my T meds convert into E2 at night. One of the mods at Dr. 's forum told me to take 5 mgs of HC at bedtime to stop this E2 problem. He told me start at 2.5 mgs at bedtime for the first few days it might keep you up. And it did I did this to fall to sleep. If you laying down and do this it will put you to sleep. http://hrop.ucop.edu/employees/eap/relaxation.html After a few days I went up to 5 mgs at bedtime and now to keep my E2 down I only need to take .25 mgs of Arimidex a day was doing 1mg. So I take 10mgs of HC when I wake up to go to the bathroom at between 5 to 6 am. I take my Thyriod and Testosterone meds at this time and go back to bed. When I wake up at 8am I feel much better because the meds are working. I then eat at 9am and take 5 mgs of HC then at 1pm and dinner at 6pm and 5 mgs at bedtime for a total of 30 mgs. I also start taking some Natural Pregnenolone Cream 15 mgs my labs have allways been near the bottom of the range now after 6 weeks on this my levels are at 77. I find my HC meds last longer and my Testosterone meds. My T levels shot up from the 700's to over the top of the range 1170 for TT and my Free and Bio are over the top. We did not change my dose we are doing labs aging in 4 weeks. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ In this link it's a FAQ's about Adrenals I helped make this. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/faq/ In this link is some of the best parts from the book SAFE USES OF CORTISOL by McK. Jeffries 3rd Edition Chapter … You will see it is very safe to be on HC meds for life. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/safe-uses/ In this link it shows you how to track your temps avg. and you can print out a chart to chart them I do did this for the first 2 yrs on HC and Thyroid meds now off and on I still track it just to be sure I am still good. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/safe-uses/ I also tested my Ferritin levels they were low so I am on Iron pills with Vit. C and I take Iodine to help my Adreanls and Thyroid. Guest guest
Hi Phil, Thank you for this info. How low was your serum ferritin? when mine was 220, they told me I should lower it. It's now about 140. A local holistic MD tested me for various things and told me I had " good thyroid health " which I find hard to believe with my apparent varying temps. Guest guest
Mine was below the normal level on my labs last Tue it was 300 I was cut back on my Iron pills 6 weeks ago to one pill a day. My last test was 107 so starting on the Preg. cream helped this or my labs are in error. We never change things on one lab so I am doing labs again in 4 weeks. I've been using DHEA cream from Life Flo and MD says it's doing me some good. The first time I took preg was tablets about 2001, and it improved my mood for a while, then faded away. Later I bought some supposedly pure preg that cost $55 for something like 100 grams of powder and it had absolutely no noticeable effect on the way I felt. Do you think Preg cream may be an even better idea? Does it effect SF [serum ferritin] levels at all? Sorry to have so many questions. Guest guest
Phil, I think you are on to something. I have been reading up on Progesterone. This is the mother of all hormones, Testosterone is made from Progesterone. I was reading this article on the link below of how it can help aging men balance their hormonal system by using it! Seems to keep the estrogen in check. Thanks! http://www.organicblessings.com/catalog/item/6772016/6669053.htm > > > > Mine was below the normal level on my labs last Tue it was 300 I was cut back on my Iron pills 6 weeks ago to one pill a day. Once I got BPH symptoms [prostate] and it felt like I had broken glass inside my rectum, and Progest-E got rid of it in 24 to 48 hours. A PhD friend of Ray Peat PhD once told me that Progest-E will get rid of cirrhosis of the liver. How true that is, I do not know. I was told my Progesterone was high in a saliva test, but I think I was later told saliva is not a good way to test Progesterone. Guest guest
One more thing if you try Preg. cream you might not need DHEA cream Preg. is at the top of the hormone tree and will convert into Prog., DHEA, Cortisol and so on. Guest guest
Ed that is a lot of money for a product with a lot of stuff in it. Saw Palmetto Berry (Serenoa Repens) standardized to contain 85% to 95% fatty acids and sterols. Pygeurn africanum - standardized to contain 13% total sterols. American Ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) -standardized to contain 75% to 85% ginsenosides. Bearberry Extract (Arctostaphylos Uva-Ursi) - standardized to contain 20% arbutin. Pumpkin Seed Oil (Cucurbita pepa). Natural Progesterone (Dioscorea barbasco) -from Wild Yam. Natural Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid from Malpighia punicifolia, the Acerola Cherry). OptiZinc. And it does not tell you how much Preg. is in it. Life-Flo you can buy upto 20mgs for about $17.00. http://www.vitaminusa.com/prbocr2ozbyl.html Co-Moderator Phil > From: ed <edhill_2006@...> > Subject: Re: Upping HC Dose to 25 mg +? > > Date: Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 9:44 AM > Phil, > I think you are on to something. Guest guest
Joe, I am not sure about Progest-E but I had BPH symptoms for me it was high Estradiol levels. And yes you can't get good labs on Sex Hormones doing Saliva testing. Dr. likes 24 urine labs but my BCBS will not pay for them they feel the are not anygood for Sex Hormones. I see guys that do blood labs then do 24 hr. urine and the urine is allway much higher. I feel Dr. knows how to read 24 urine labs better then most Dr.'s so this is why he use's it. Guest guest
What about my husband's hormones? What can you do for him? Progesterone is vital to good health in both women and men. It is the primary precursor of our adrenal cortical hormones and testosterone. Males synthesize progesterone in amounts less than women do but it is still vital. Furthermore, it may be important in the prevention and/or treatment of prostatism and prostate cancer. Men with BPH (swelling of the prostate) and other male related problems will appreciate the speed of relief with progesterone cream. We recommend that men use 8 - 12 mg of progesterone daily. It is important to note that progesterone has no feminizing characteristics. Progesterone is an 5-alpha reductase inhibitor -- it helps prevent the conversion of testosterone into DHT. Progesterone may also help men with complexion and increased energy. Progesterone balances the estrogens that build in a man's body. Furthermore, it may be important in the prevention and/or treatment of prostatism and prostate cancer. Dr Lee has had men contact him telling him that as a result of applying progesterone cream to their wife they were seeing that their symptoms of prostatism such as urinary urgency and frequency decreased considerably. Several men with prostate cancer reported that their PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) level decreased and they have had no progression of their prostate lesions since using the cream themselves. > From: Wing 51 <joe525us@...> > Subject: Re: Upping HC Dose to 25 mg +? > > Date: Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 10:36 AM > > > > > > > Phil, > > I think you are on to something.
