Guest guest
Unfortunately its all about numbers and money. The number of men that have Hypogonadism is listed at approximately 1 million. Knowing how men process things, that means that there is probably several million but they won't seek treatment. The cost to do a an appropriate test can cost millions (double blind test with a significant number of test). Therefore the drug manufacturer probably views this as not cost beneficial - especially with the patent ending this year.  Now put your self in a position where you are not overweight and zinc does not reduce your E2. As you mentioned, Drs. have varying opinions on use in men. I probably won't wait 30 years for the results to be honest.  Arkansas From: james186282 <pillow@...> Subject: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by Body Builders Date: Saturday, February 27, 2010, 1:45 PM  Hi Phil: That maybe true but there are also millions of men who buy " internet " Viagra which is often what? Sheetrock pills made in Red China? If numbers are everything then that would be just as good an idea. Correct? And I don't think drug therapies are a popularity contest and I hope you don't either. I would be much more interested in a discussion of what the three Doctors I saw said about their concerns over using this drug in men. Can long term use atrophy or damage the control centers of the brain that regulate hormone production? They all seemed to think so. One of these doctors is a professor and teaches Urology at the U. Has Arimidex ever been tested for safety in men? I'm pretty sure that answer is still no. Is any drug thats limited to people who are terminally ill that well tested anyhow? I understand that many doctors provide drugs off label. I " get " that there are times this is worth doing. The nerve meds for pain for example. But I think anyone doing this should have a picture of the potential issues and just how much of a dice toss this is. ly I can't understand why someone does NOT run a study and publish it. It seems like that would open up a good market (Half the population) to use this drug. In the meantime whats wrong with loosing weight and taking Zinc once or twice a day? By that I mean if this works? WHY screw with Arimidex? - > > > > > > I got this off a web page - interesing doses they use > > and make reference to OTC products typically not mentioned > > here: > > > > > > Any drug taken for too long will have negative > > consequences in the body. The use of caffeine for > > weeks, for example, leads to an addiction which will leave > > the user with a pounding headache each day. Long-term > > use of anabolic, or post-cycle therapy compounds, can be > > even more dangerous. Every day you use a compound, the > > functions of several systems in your body are altered. > > Over time, these can lead to unintended health > > consequences. > > > > > > Arimidex is a very popular drug for limiting the > > effects of estrogen in the body. It is used as part of > > a post-cycle therapy plan. You see, following a heavy > > cycle or a pre-contest phase, you are typically going to > > taper off your AAS use. This results in crashing > > testosterone levels and spiking estrogen levels. This > > means, without PCT, you would lose your muscle and see some > > nasty side effects, including bloating and > > gynecomastia. Arimidex stops these negative side > > effects from occurring. Guest guest
If I waited for a study I would be dead today think about that. All I am saying everything most Dr.'s know about men treating hypogonadism we all learned from them men doing Steroids for body building. I am not saying what they did is right but they paved the road for us. And let me tell you about some up there Dr.'s and what they say it's all words not the law. I have talked to more men in my life with this problem that have been to one Dr. after the other all told the Dr. they are seeing is this best they are not the best it's all in there heads. I can understand your wanting a study on this or that but don't hold your breath. Like I said if I waited for a study I would not be here trying to help men go down the dam road I had to go down. I still get dam mad when a guy comes here and posts his Dr. has been treating him for Depression and he is not getting better. Then he comes here finds a better Dr. and finds out he is not depressed but has low Testosterone. Then first 5 yrs that I got sick after a few tests they told me this crap. And drugged me up so bad I did not know where I was or who I was do they have study for that no but I will be dammed they will not check men for low testosterone or high Estradiol but they will put on some nasty dam Antidepressant drugs. And doing this I lost 5 yrs of my life almost lost my job and marriage. You can read my story at this link and when of if you read it I have seem many like mine. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 Co-Moderator Phil > From: james186282 <pillow@...> > Subject: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by Body Builders > > Date: Saturday, March 6, 2010, 1:06 PM > Dear Phil: > > Steroid abusers are not the same as a peer reviewed > study. At least not to me. > > - > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I got this off a web page - > interesing doses > > > they use > > > > > and make reference to OTC products > typically not > > > mentioned > > > > > here: > > > > > > > > > > > > Any drug taken for too long will > have > > > negative > > > > > consequences in the body. > The use of caffeine > > > for > > > > > weeks, for example, leads to an > addiction which > > > will leave > > > > > the user with a pounding headache each > day. > > > Long-term > > > > > use of anabolic, or post-cycle therapy > compounds, > > > can be > > > > > even more dangerous. Every > day you use a > > > compound, the > > > > > functions of several systems in your > body are > > > altered. > > > > > Over time, these can lead to unintended > health > > > > > consequences. > > > > > > > > > > > > Arimidex is a very popular drug > for limiting > > > the > > > > > effects of estrogen in the > body. It is used > > > as part of > > > > > a post-cycle therapy plan. > You see, following > > > a heavy > > > > > cycle or a pre-contest phase, you are > typically > > > going to > > > > > taper off your AAS use. > This results in > > > crashing > > > > > testosterone levels and spiking > estrogen > > > levels. This > > > > > means, without PCT, you would lose your > muscle > > > and see some > > > > > nasty side effects, including bloating > and > > > > > gynecomastia. Arimidex > stops these negative > > > side > > > > > effects from occurring. Guest guest
Hey - here is my take on it from my perspective. Most guys on TRT probably do shoot more than they need. For example, if I shoot 100 mg every 7 days, My total T spikes to ~ 1400 and by end of the week is ~ 500. When your body sees that big of a spike, its response is to eliminate some of it by conversion to E2 via the aromatase enzyme. Doing 2 shots a week was better at this because it kept me 500-800. But being the lazy person I am I am only doing 1 shot a week. Theoretically speaking, arimidex works as an aromatase inhibitor - which means it blocks the enzyme from performing its normal function. Women have been using this product for close to 10 years without affect - this is as close of a trial as we currently have. There have been short term studies with elderly men but nothing long term. Bottom line is it will be another 30 years or so before we would see possible negative effects from this product. That will put me at 82 so for me the risk is worth the benefit I get from taking it. The normal dosage for women and the test that were ran with elderly men was 1 mg per day which is ~ 8 times higher than what I am taking. The balance comes in from what happens if you don't take it - for me that is an enlarged prostate, anxiety, nipple issues, ED and I cry like a little girl watching TV. We all have to make choices we are comfortable with based on our age and current conditions. For me its worth the risk - Arkansas From: james186282 <pillow@...> Subject: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by Body Builders Date: Saturday, March 6, 2010, 12:03 PM  Hi Dan: It might be about the cost to test it. Or the people who make the drug feel there is no way it will pass for this use and don't want to waste the money. I honestly don't know. If it helps, I'll lay aside for the moment the idea that its never been tested for safety in men for the moment but I really do think that would be a nice project. The AndroGel site said (If I remember this right) over 13 million men have Hypogonadism and I think the numbers are under reported. But again we are talking " numbers " and no one is talking about the points I keep trying to bring up. If that Professor of Urology (And the other two doctors I mentioned) says extended use of this type of drug can screw up your hormone control center is that not a good reason to avoid this? For the men who have great BMI and still have high E2 there are some other factors that can cause this. A eacy one is too much Testosterone (Maybe they are doing 2 or *gag 3 week injection cycles?) And the first part of the cycle is converting into E2. Anyway, I think it would be good to try to find out why and address that directly then solve it with a drug that I think has some pretty serious baggage. > > > > > > > > I got this off a web page - interesing doses they use > > > and make reference to OTC products typically not mentioned > > > here: > > > > > > > > Any drug taken for too long will have negative > > > consequences in the body. The use of caffeine for > > > weeks, for example, leads to an addiction which will leave > > > the user with a pounding headache each day. Long-term > > > use of anabolic, or post-cycle therapy compounds, can be > > > even more dangerous. Every day you use a compound, the > > > functions of several systems in your body are altered. > > > Over time, these can lead to unintended health > > > consequences. > > > > > > > > Arimidex is a very popular drug for limiting the > > > effects of estrogen in the body. It is used as part of > > > a post-cycle therapy plan. You see, following a heavy > > > cycle or a pre-contest phase, you are typically going to > > > taper off your AAS use. This results in crashing > > > testosterone levels and spiking estrogen levels. This > > > means, without PCT, you would lose your muscle and see some > > > nasty side effects, including bloating and > > > gynecomastia. Arimidex stops these negative side > > > effects from occurring. Guest guest
I just switched to testostorone shots this week and HCG on the 5th and 6th day.. I do have BPH, so what do you take to eliminate the " The balance comes in from what happens if you don't take it - for me that is an enlarged prostate, anxiety, nipple issues, ED and I cry like a little girl watching TV " . Guest guest
I take 0.25mg of arimidex 2-3 times a week. Usually I take one on the day of the shot, 1 two days later and if I need it a third one 2 days after that.  Arkansas From: james186282 <pillowmail (DOT) com> Subject: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by Body Builders Date: Saturday, March 6, 2010, 12:03 PM Hi Dan: It might be about the cost to test it. Guest guest
I can't say I have been on Arimidex for many yrs but not the dose women use and for a Dr. to say it's not good to take Arimidex what dose he base this on. When my Dr. told me this yrs ago I asked him to show me a study that says this after that he gave it to me. Men on Arimidex only take .25 mgs every 2 to 3 days this is a lot less then women take and the thing I know about it being bad is going to low on your estradiol levels. All I was saying is on one had Dr. give out Prozac like it's candy and on the other had would day Arimidex is not good to take. If you are worried about this don't take it try Indolplex/DIM it works and is a supplement. Guest guest
I hear you Phil. My PCP, my uro and, as of today, my endo are all approving of Arimidex to bring down my high estradiol level. For those of us getting legal prescriptions I would think that our doctors have as much right to be considered credible as those who are anti-Arimidex. All I know is that I am feeling a lot better, thanks to Arimidex, now that my estradiol is down to 34 from 130. I'll keep taking the Arimidex per my doc's orders, thanks. ;-) ________________________________ From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> Sent: Tue, March 9, 2010 10:17:14 AM Subject: Re: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by Body Builders I can't say I have been on Arimidex for many yrs but not the dose women use and for a Dr. to say it's not good to take Arimidex what dose he base this on. Guest guest
That is great news now all you need to do it get your morning and night time wood back so you can gage how your doing. I just settled down from having a bad batch of HCG Novarel that drove up my estradiol levels like crazy. I needed at one time until we figured this out 1 mgs a day to keep it down. Now I am back to .25 mgs every other day. If you don't know how to do this let me know I have a file I can cut and paste in here telling you what you need to do to not go to low. Guest guest
If Arimidex hasn’t been extensively tested in men, how can anyone say that it is or isn’t safe for long term use? You can discount the body builders if you want, just because they are pushing the limits doesn’t mean they are wrong. You seem perfectly willing to take supplements like zinc, but have you seen any long term studies concerning the safety or efficacy of long term use of zinc? I wonder how many doctors say that zinc isn’t safe for long term use. I guess my point is, I don’t care. I think most doctors do not have TRT figured out. The ones that do, are vilified as steroid abusers or anti-aging nuts. Pioneers often suffer this kind of abuse, so be it. Medical science (or art if you prefer) often changes its course of thinking thanks to these pioneers. Then again, maybe we’d all be better off if blood letting was still the preferred course of treatment for a host of ailments. I think the value of this group is for men to learn what is working for other men with the same problem. We can learn what works and what doesn’t. We can share this information with our doctors and make more informed choices about how we want to treat our problem and live our lives. I think it is dangerous to blindly follow advice from anyone, especially a doctor. However, we all have to figure it out for ourselves. And, if some of us decide to go outside the mainstream, well, at least we have a place to discuss our results. God knows the doctors don’t want to discuss it. _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of james186282 Sent: Tuesday, March 09, 2010 8:55 AM Subject: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by Body Builders Gosh - How do I say this? I think the topic went totally off topic. I don't have any argument with your comment about being treated for depression when you have hormone problems. I don't know what that has to do with my comment at all? My Doctor said " You match a profile for depression but lets be sure and check your hormones first " and that all well and good. If your saying some doctors are not too good dealing with this your right but Doctors are human and its called the Medical " art " so I think its of value to know that they are imperfect. So maybe we agree on this? I dunno... I disagree that we have to thank Steroid Abusers for proving guidance in treating men for Hypogonadism. Its not science - never mind the legal aspects. The point I tried to make was that at least the doctors I've spoken to say Arimidex is not safe for long term use. We can forget my desire for a study of this drug if you like but what about this? Are they wrong and your saying your right? How do you qualify that? I'm not a Doctor. Nor a professor who teaches this its these guys who are the ones saying this and I dispute your comment that steroid abusers know better. And " if " it is even slightly ok why is not doing a more mainstream thing like weight reduction and taking 50 or 100mg of zinc not a better choice? This is the point I'm trying to make. I think " trying " to make science of this is the right way to go about this but... - > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I got this off a web page - > > interesing doses > > > > they use > > > > > > and make reference to OTC products > > typically not > > > > mentioned > > > > > > here: > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Any drug taken for too long will > > have > > > > negative > > > > > > consequences in the body. > > The use of caffeine > > > > for > > > > > > weeks, for example, leads to an > > addiction which > > > > will leave > > > > > > the user with a pounding headache each > > day. > > > > Long-term > > > > > > use of anabolic, or post-cycle therapy > > compounds, > > > > can be > > > > > > even more dangerous. Every > > day you use a > > > > compound, the > > > > > > functions of several systems in your > > body are > > > > altered. > > > > > > Over time, these can lead to unintended > > health > > > > > > consequences. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Arimidex is a very popular drug > > for limiting > > > > the > > > > > > effects of estrogen in the > > body. It is used > > > > as part of > > > > > > a post-cycle therapy plan. > > You see, following > > > > a heavy > > > > > > cycle or a pre-contest phase, you are > > typically > > > > going to > > > > > > taper off your AAS use. > > This results in > > > > crashing > > > > > > testosterone levels and spiking > > estrogen > > > > levels. This > > > > > > means, without PCT, you would lose your > > muscle > > > > and see some > > > > > > nasty side effects, including bloating > > and > > > > > > gynecomastia. Arimidex > > stops these negative > > > > side > > > > > > effects from occurring. Guest guest
Thanks Phil! Re the morning and night time wood. . .I've had ED for a number of years, but had reached a point in the last year or so where even the ED meds were hit and miss. . .except for that wicked Trimix. Since the estradiol has started to come down though, I've noticed better erections with the meds. Also, I am aware when I wake during the night and in the morning, that I have semi-erections. This has not been the case for years! I'm hoping that the ED problem has perhaps been high E2 levels all along. However, I am diabetic (very well controlled) and hypertensive (relatively well controlled. . .still working on that). So perhaps the ED will not be resolved by this alone. I've studied your instructions on Arimidex in detail so I know the routine. ________________________________ From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> Sent: Tue, March 9, 2010 11:08:35 AM Subject: Re: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by Body Builders That is great news now all you need to do it get your morning and night time wood back so you can gage how your doing. Guest guest
When I first came here I was the same way I put all my trust in my Dr.'s and things they told me were the law. I was such a pain in the As* here it was a wonder I was not kicked off. I know how he feels and he dose have to work this out for his self and do what he feels is safe for him. I came to a point where I could not live my life anymore I was off work on Sick Leave more then I was at work. People looked at me and said you don't look sick. My family turned on me saying it's all in my head and I just don't what to work or take care of my family. My job turned on me and locked me out of work coming off sick leave so no sick pay or unemployment pay. I had to go to the EEOC and sue them to get my job back they settled out of court. You can read my story at this link and how low hormones messed up my heart. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=9239 Co-Moderator Phil > From: Wharff <robertwharff@...> > Subject: RE: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by Body Builders > > Date: Tuesday, March 9, 2010, 12:52 PM > If Arimidex hasn’t been extensively > tested in men, how can anyone say that it is or isn’t safe > for long term use? You can discount the body builders > if you want, just because they are pushing the limits > doesn’t mean they are wrong. You seem perfectly > willing to take supplements like zinc, but have you seen any > long term studies concerning the safety or efficacy of long > term use of zinc? I wonder how many doctors say that > zinc isn’t safe for long term use. > > > > I guess my point is, I don’t care. I think most > doctors do not have TRT figured out. The ones that do, > are vilified as steroid abusers or anti-aging nuts. > Pioneers often suffer this kind of abuse, so be it. > Medical science (or art if you prefer) often changes its > course of thinking thanks to these pioneers. Then > again, maybe we’d all be better off if blood letting was > still the preferred course of treatment for a host of > ailments. > > > > I think the value of this group is for men to learn what is > working for other men with the same problem. We can > learn what works and what doesn’t. We can share this > information with our doctors and make more informed choices > about how we want to treat our problem and live our > lives. I think it is dangerous to blindly follow > advice from anyone, especially a doctor. However, we > all have to figure it out for ourselves. And, if some > of us decide to go outside the mainstream, well, at least we > have a place to discuss our results. God knows the > doctors don’t want to discuss it. > > > > > >  _____ > > From: > [mailto: ] > On Behalf Of james186282 > Sent: Tuesday, March 09, 2010 8:55 AM > > Subject: Re: Interesting View of Arimidex by > Body Builders > > > >  > > Gosh - How do I say this?
