Guest guest
This test is about the best one you can do and by your ACTH Stim. test your Primary meaning your Adrenals are over worked and need to heal. The way to do this is to go on Isocort of Cortef. Isocort is sold OTC and works good for most people. Cortef you need a script from a Dr. and to treat this it's best to have it done by a good Dr. Here is a link about Adrenals and Thyroid in this is a FAQ's I help do when I was a Mod. at STTM of Adrenals and Thyroid most people with bad Adrenals need to check there Thyriod too. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ If your going to treat this you need to read this FAQ's and the links in it. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/faq/ In this link it helps you to tell if you have AF. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/how-to-treat/ Do you have a good Dr. to help you treat this. In this link it shows you how you need to start on Isocort of Cortef HC. Guest guest
I wrote this as email response some days ago but it seems it never arrived in this forum.. appologies if a double but dont seem to be. Thanks for your never ending support to the group PHIL! I dont have a good doctor! In the past i have been diagnoses with low testosterone (or atleast low bioavailable testostereone) an have tried testogel for that. Some of my symptoms felt better on Tgel but it dident feel as if its the rout cause of my problems. My sexdrive was through the roof on Tgel but thats not my main concearn. I feel if i had my energy levels up and good sleep my sexual interest would return even without T. I have also tested highish on Bioavailable testosterone when i went to check on a good day so i think my low T is just a symptom of something else, possibly adrenal fatigue? I have tested thyriod in 24 hour urine sample and im awaiting results (2 weeks). I have also tested thryiod before and it always comes back with very high (sometimes even over the range) free T4 and highish free T3. So maybe im still converting to little T4 to the active T3. I read somewhere this could possibly be to poor adrenal function. With such high thyriod readings i doubt i would by hypothyriod if adrenals would be fix but i guess you never really know. Isocort sounds like a good start to c if things improve. What timeframe are we talking about to c some beneficial results? Would there by any danger in using this for longer periods? God, i cant wait to feel better! I have been like this for 4 years now. Thanks again! Guest guest
It seems i cant reply via gmail as the messages are sent to " no_reply " . Guess that explains it Hello again! After showing these results to my doctor he tells me that saliva cortisol testing is not a valid test. He said that there was no scientifical proof that saliva cortisol levels were something that you could use from a medical standpoint. I have in the past also have low thyriod conversion from t4 to t3. He said that too was not an issue considering that my t3 always came out high even tho my conversion probably wasent that good since t4 was over top of range. He also said that the acth injection test i did showed nothing suggesting i have weak adrenals. My baseline that morning was 498 and after 30 min had risen to 630. According to interpetation of this test that i found online your level should rise to atleast 500 and also by atleast >200. My levels only rose about 130 and i felt really bad later that night and after a few days with severe backpain. I have all sort of reactions to foods that i never had before. One of them beeing celiak wich is weird cause i use to eat pasta twice a day. Another indication of weak adrenals? My doctor do not seem to think adrenals are the cause for my new allergies/intollerances. Can someone please give me a link to where there is scientifical data that is current and shows that saliva cortisol testing is a scientificly supported method for determening cortisol levels? Ive bought isocort and im ready to give this a test period but id really like my doctor onboard with this. I dont like the thought of selfmedication unless there is no other way! If you also have a story to share about treating adrenal fatigue with HC or Isocort id love to hear your experience! Were you able to get off and recover? I need to convince my Doctor to treat me for this atleast for a test period! I hate when a doctor tells me that my suspicions are wrong and holds no medical ground. It makes me wonder what to think and what could happen if i selfmedicate a problem that isent real. He is putting doubts in my head and i hate it! Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks Björn > > > > > From: troubledfinuser <no_reply > > > > Subject: Saliva cortisol test results > > > > > > Date: Friday, February 19, 2010, 6:02 AM > > > > > > Hello. > > > > > > I would like to ask the group for your insight to below > > > test results and ways to possible get these values in > > > range. > > > > > > morning: 9.1 range: (12-22) > > > lunch: 4.5 range: (5-9) > > > afternoon: 1.5 range: (3-7) > > > night time: 1.1 range: (1-3) > > > > > > Total cortisol: l6.2 range: (21-41) > > > > > > How reliable are the salvia cortisol tests? > > > My dhea was also tested in saliva and was found in range. > > > > > > I have also done an acth stimulation test that has shown > > > poor cortisol rise after injection. > > > > > > Should i try cortef and c how i do? can i wean of that > > > further down the line? > > > > > > > > > Symptoms i cant seem to get rid of are: > > > > > > Sleep issues. Guest guest
I am sorry your post did not show up as to a time frame on how Isocort will work my first pill gave me a feeling of well being. You need to work up to 8 pills a day if you feel bad in the morning work up to 4 pills in the morning 2 at nood and 2 at dinner time. Eight pills of Isocort is said to have 20 mgs or cortisol in them here is how you start to take it from this link. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/how-to-treat And read this link. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/ And this FAQ's on Adrenals. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/ =================================================== Since there is doubt that Isocort actually contains 2.5 mg per pellet, you may need more to reach the the actual 20 mgs: Day 1-3: 2.5 mg first thing in the AM (2.5 mg total) Day 4-6: 2.5 mg first thing, 2.5 mg in four hours (5 mg total) Day 7-9: 2.5 mg first thing; 2.5 mg in four hours; 2.5 mg in four hours (7 1/2 mg total) Day 10-12: 5 mg first thing; 2.5 mg in four hours; 2.5 mg in four hours (10 mg total) Day 13-16: 5 mg first thing; 5 mg in four hours; 2.5 mg in four hours; 2.5 mg bedtime (15 mg total) Day 17-20: 10 mg first thing; 5 mg in four hours; 2.5 mg in four hours; Bedtime 2.5 mg (20 mg total) Co-Moderator Phil > From: troubledfinuser <no_reply > > Subject: Re: Saliva cortisol test results > > Date: Thursday, February 25, 2010, 2:38 PM > > I wrote this as email response some days ago but it seems > it never arrived in this forum.. appologies if a double but > dont seem to be. > > Thanks for your never ending support to the group PHIL! > > I dont have a good doctor! Guest guest
Hello again and thank you for the links. Lots of good information. Today i got back the following results from a 24hour urine collection. Urine volume: 1180ml range: 600-2500ml Thyriod T3: 1935 range: 592-1850 pmol/24h *high* Thyriod T4: 1451 range: 347-1994 pmol/24h Aldosterone: 13.4 range: 6.0-44 mcg/24h In previous bloodtest i have shown out of range high T4 and normal/high T3 Now its the opposite. Could a high T3 be reason for my symptoms or is the T3 high cause its not getting into the cell because of low cortisol / adrenal output? I dont know where to start really. How would you go about lowering T3? Or could just adding cortisol bring down T3? Ive always been skinny and have a hard time to put on muscles/fat for most of my life. But i never felt so drained as i did the last couple of years. Thanks for input guys, i appreciate it! Guest guest
I am not good at 24 urine labs and don't feel they are all that great for finding problems. My Dr. does not do them and my BCBS will not even pay for them. I think with urine labs a high number means your body is not using the T3. Your Aldosterone is dam low but then I would not treat by urine labs. My levels were low on a fasting blood test. You can read about low Aldosterone levels and how your body dumps your sodium with this problem at this link. http://www.tuberose.com/Adrenal_Glands.html My Dr. put me on Florinef .1mgs and has me add Pink Sea Salt to my water 3x's a day about a 1/2 tsp. Now the heat of summer does not bother me and I can work out side in the yard. Guest guest
Hi Well urine is not the most accurate when it comes to thyroid tests. it would be good if you could get bloods done. In saying that, looking at these results you could have a reverse t3 problem. This is brought on by low cortisol, low ferritin and b12 etc.You take t3 only to fix it. But you need good for ferritin and be on some cortisol treatment before you start t3 only. You will have to go and get a reverse t3 blood test and a free t3 test at the same time to work out if you have a problem. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/2009/11/18/reverse-t3/ http://thyroid-rt3.com/ What lab did your 24 saliva cortisol test? Sky  ________________________________ From: troubledfinuser <no_reply > Sent: Mon, 1 March, 2010 11:17:00 PM Subject: Re: Saliva cortisol test results  Hello again and thank you for the links. Guest guest
Hi That t4 does not look good at all. I would definitely test for reverse t3. Guest guest
T4 has since that test come down within range even in blood test but i dont have that particular test on hand. I thought rT3 was used to shed light on a situation with low T3? Im obvisouly a noob at all this but that was my understanding. What are one hoping to find with a rT3 test when you have high t4 and high t3 in previous blood tests? Guest guest
Hi It depends where t4 is in the range if it is above mid-range people tend to have a reverse t3 problem. You can have high or low t3 and still have a RT3 problem especially if you have left your adrenals and ferritin untreated. A reverse t3 test tells you if your t4 is converting to t3. If low in cortisol and ferritin your body could be pooling t3 and not letting get into your cells. You go by a ratio between free t3 and reverse t3. If the ratio is above 20 you do not have a problem. If it is below you need to go on t3 only. Guest guest
Thanks Ill try to get the doc to take a rt3 on my next set of tests. In the mean time im gonna start on the isocort for a test period and c how i do. I thought i had gotten the isocort pills allrdy but i found out when i opened the package i accidently ordered this instead. As it came up when i searched for isocort on iherb :/ Guess i wasent paying attention. http://www.iherb.com/Search?kw=isocort So iherb dont have isocort, does anyone know a good and trustworthy E-store where i can buy isocort that ships to Europe for reasonable amount of cash? Vitamninmd wants a whopping 85usd just for shipping 1 - 5 pill boxes. That feels like a robbery! Would ebay users be safe? is there more than one kind of isocort or is that the brand name so all would be the same? Need to try something now, cant just wait any more. Thanks! Guest guest
Thanks i found a place to order isocort. Anyone know if saliva estradiol readings are of any use in a man? I just got min back at 10.7 (range 3-8) Ive done atleast 2 seperate e2 blood test that has shown me at 12pg/m or 20pg/ml (range 12-54) I dont know what to make of it. Could it be that saliva estradiol is not reliable for men? Basicly saliva shows my E2 over the range and my doctor who does blood is concearned it might be to low at 12. Dunno what to think really :/ Thanks for any light shed on the subject! Guest guest
Now im beginning to c a better picture of my situation. Thanks to all the info so far. For me all my problems started when i was out riding my bike. I was poorly trained at this point and had not ridden for a couple of month. I like to push myself (or used to anyways). All of a sudden my right lower leg goes numb. Try to shake some sense to it but i cant. Its numb but not completely. For me i never experienced anything like this b4. I ride home. I get all shaky and cold. I get a prostate infection that is bad. It feels enlarged and i barly can sit on my touche. It gets worse, i get tingeling sensation all in my body especially hands and fingers. I get even more cold and more bodyparts feel like they are going numb. My stomach wont digest anything, it feels like im shuving food down a bucket that just fills up. I get sick i dont puke but i feel like i want to all the time. Im a guy with lots of vains on the outside of my body esp arms and lower legs. They all dissapear, i cant even c my vains anymore. And they usually pretrude a good half a cm or more if you pump. I cant make the visable. During a couple of weeks i feel like this with symptoms of no circulaltion at all no digestion, cant sleep, i shiver and i cant feel parts of my body. Blood in stool every time i go (wich wasent often maybe twice a week). After a few weeks i feel better but it takes a full 6 month to recover so i can function again. This was more than 3 years ago. To this day i have not fully recovered from this event but i do feel alot better than back then. It was health hell! I still have allergies and many symptoms and general poor health from this event. But im so much better! Almost forgot how bad i was before writing this. Its amazing how good the body/mind is to move on! All that the medical checks revealed at this time was low body temp and an increased inflamatory marker. They just sent me home with aspirine. They said my vains were fine and that perhaps my lack of excersice recently was the cause for my vains to go into hiding. Funny cause nurses usually comment on my vains every time i draw blood. and at this point they had trouble finding them even with the band around my arm. With a bit more insight to my situation. Could this have been what is referred to as an addison crisis? What you think? Guest guest
Hi B, Your story dose sound to me like your Adrenals were stressed when you went riding your bike. As you pushed your self your Cortisol levels would not keep up with the demand your body needed. And you had what I feel was an Adrenal Crisis. When this happens you feel like you did but most recover with in a few days. You must be very low on Cortisol and need to test this doing a 4x's in a day Saliva test. I had this happen to me treating my Adrenals with Cortef at the time I was on 5mgs 4x's a day or every 4 hrs. I keep a card on me saying this and I was out side about 2 yrs. ago in the summer working in this yard. I was feeling fatigued and pushed my self to finish what I was doing and got what I call an Adrenal Crisis. People like me on Cortef HC stress dose when this happens taking an extra 5 mgs every 30 min's up to 20 mgs if this dose not stop the shaky feelings and being sick to the stomach we need to go into the ER. When I got there they gave me a big shot of Medrol and this fixed my Problem. My Dr. later told me this happened because I am not taking enough Cortef so we went from 20 mgs a day to 25 mgs. later that summer it happened again. So now I am on 30 mgs a day of cortef and we found out my Aldosterone and Renin levels are very low so now I am on Florinef with Sea Salt added to my water I dump my sodium do to my Adrnals not working right. Now I can work out side and go to the gym and work out with out getting sick. I was a mod helping Men with this problem and there Thyroid so if you need more help with this I am here. In this link is a FAQ's about this and where to get a Saliva test. http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/ In this like it talks about keeping info on you so if you go into an Adrenal Crisis they know what to do it can kill you. http://www.cushings-help.com/911.htm In this link it shows the stages of this problem. http://www.chronicfatigue.org/ASI%201%20.html In this link it's about your Adrenals and how they work and how you can end up dumping your sodium. Dam the web site is down I will try it later. But you can get some good Pink Sea Salt and add a 1/2 tsp full to a glass of water first thing in the morning and down it see if you don't feel better doing this. I do it 3x's a day. http://tinyurl.com/yky2mpn Co-Moderator Phil > From: troubledfinuser <no_reply > > Subject: Re: Saliva cortisol test results > > Date: Friday, March 5, 2010, 10:36 AM > Now im beginning to c a better > picture of my situation.
