Guest guest
Sorry Phil I'm a bit confused now - on your other post it says if you're having depression and mental problems but on this one you say it's not too low? > > > From: <chrisjtaylor46@...> > > Subject: ferritin in a man, affecting hormones? > > > > Date: Saturday, June 26, 2010, 1:48 PM > > Hi > > > > what should ferritin levels be in a man? my dr seemed > > to think they should be higher than they are: > > > > 115 ng/ml > > > > i'm age 31 and wondered if this level might be affecting > > hormones too? > > > > Thanks > > > > chris > > > > > > > > ------------------------------------ > > > >
Guest guest
OK if you have low levels of Testosterone you can feel like your Depressed but it's not true Depression it's your low Hormones. Last time I read Dr. M's site about low Ferritin he said he likes to see Ferritin higher in true Depressed People this could be a brain imbalance not a Hormone. Guest guest
I was told on another forum that people with adrenal fatigue/low thyroid falsely report high ferritin levels because the body is storing the iron in preparation for an infection. This is due to all of the inflammation that is caused by the low hormones. Mine was reported at 84 before I began treating my adrenals. Now that I've treated them, my level is at 47. So, this may be something to consider. Guest guest
Ferritin should be under 100. It produces free radicals, oxidation and aging. Abnormally High ferritin can lead to Low T. Guest guest
Your local doctor is thinking about pure iron storage, NOT a guy who is being expertly managed. Be well! Guest guest
I don't feel one can get there Ferritin levels up onto the mid 100's on pills one would need to do shots. Best I could do is about 80 on some strong pills. If I take the pills on the week of my labs yes my levels would be high like that. But my Dr. tells me to stop iron pills about 5 days before doing labs so he can see how I look off the pills.
