Guest guest
I was first diagnosed with borderline Low T in 1996 at age 28 (low 300s) Last fall (age 41) my TT level was 262, shbg-17( and low free T too but I dont have it handy). That was when I decided to try HRT. After 7 weeks of one tube Testim a day, TT levels reached 343, but my libido/ED seemed to worsen. Doc tested prolactin (normal) thyroids (right in the middle of normal) so I dont think its an absorption issue, just a too little dose I think. I cant really afford testim long-term anyway, and as I do not seem to absorb it well, my Doc is now switching me to shots 100 mg/week for 3 mos(but will not prescribe hcg or arimidex and so far will not test E2 either). I have an alternate source for hcg arimidex, but I may have to self test E2. I hope that T shots will boost my levels enough to improve my libido/ED, but if not, I will employ arimidex. Questions: Since I have hcg on-hand should I start an hcg protocol to coincide with my introduction to injectable T? Ive noticed testicular atrophy on Testim, and am having ED so I am inclined to start using hcg now. Should I wait to see if my libido/wood improves before adding any arimidex - if so, how long should I wait? Thanks for any and all feedback guys.... Guest guest
Normally it is advisable to only change one variable at a time. Personally, I would start the shots and try them for a couple months before adding other meds. Most of us require the arimidex to control E2. For me HCG increased my T but also my E2. You also have to know what your values are. If this Dr. won't test for E2 then get another Dr. who will. I would add HCG last once you get under control. Guest guest
Hi growaatl, You need to test your Estradiol levels first men your age with levels this low can be very low on Estradiol too. I say this because your SHBG is so low 17 when I first tested my Estradiol levels they were over the top of the range and my SHBG was very high binding up my Testosterone both Total and Free. As I got this down my SHBG came down it's at 18 now and I need to keep my Estradiol levels lower then most men in the mid range of SHBG. So all I am saying is as your SHBG goes down because of low T your Estradiol levels can be very low Jim here has this problem. So please test this before you go on any Arimidex if your low now and take Arimidex your going to make things worse. You see low Estradiol will give you ED big time and taking Viagra will not get it up. When you start on your shots do the gel the same day then stop the next day. You can add HCG but only do 250 IU's the 2 days each just before your next T shot doing this will keep your testis working and keep your levels up until you do your next T shot. I am suffering big time right now because my Estradiol levels are to high. I sweat and feel like I am going to have a Panic Attack loud noise bothers me and I feel a lot of anxiety. I started having this problem when I went back on DHEA supplements. I have been off them 4 weeks not yet the problem is still there. So yes start your T shots and add in HCG don't do arimidex until you test this. If you don't get night time and morning wood and your on the shots and HCG and they start up then you will know your Estradiol levels were low and the T and HCG are bring them up. If they stop again later this might mean your levels of Estraidol are now to high but test them first. I would do the T shots and HCG for at least 8 weeks before testing anything. Most of use men when Estradiol levels are going to high we get sore and hard nipples and feel anxiety and feel hot and will sweat easy. Keep me posted how your feeling on this add to this thread so we can read back and see what was said. Guest guest
Dan last time I talked to Dr. he said he dose not wait until the new guy is leveled on TRT before he puts him on HCG. He now starts them on both at the same time. Guest guest
Your SHBG was good most of the men I see with low T and that are younger do have low E2 levels and never know what there SHBG was before starting on TRT so it hard to tell I do know the lower ones SHBG the lower they need to keep there E2 levels and most men with a lower SHBG have lower levels of E2. I am suffering from high E2 right now and feel like crap if I tested my SHBG right now it will come back high because as my E2 gose up so does my SHBG. Guest guest
It's hard to tell if it's Estraidol or both Estradol and my Thyroid meds getting to strong on HGH. My Dr. did lower my Thyroid meds after labs when way up just after 3 shots. I have had problems with Estradiol levels jumping up on me for no reason. And I would need to double up on the Arimidex to being it down this would last a short time. I did not take my Thyroid med at 1pm so lets see if I feel better by bedtime. I mixed up a new batch of HCG 3 days ago and did a 250 IU shot at 5am and took my 2 grains of armour thyroid med and my 10 mgs of Cortef HC and went back to bed. When I got up I was sweating like a pig and feeling like I was going to have a Panic Attack when this happens most of the time it's my Estradiol levels jumping way up. And it can be the new mix of HCG. So tomorrow morning I am due for a HCG shot and I will do it and see if this happens again been on a lower dose of Armour. Guest guest
Hi Sky, No I still have a lot of the old Armour left and when I run out I will be going on the ERFA Thyroid from Canada. From what I am hearing on the web this is as good as the old Armour or even better. http://www.erfa-sa.com/thyroid_usa.htm Co-Moderator Phil > From: SKY JONES <subhadradasi2000@...> > Subject: Re: story and update > > Date: Sunday, February 7, 2010, 6:55 AM > Hi Phil > > Are you on the NEW Armour or the OLD armour? > > Sky > > > > > ________________________________ > From: philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> > > Sent: Sun, 7 February, 2010 5:17:29 AM > Subject: Re: story and update > > > > So tomorrow morning I am due for a HCG shot and I will do > it and see if this happens again been on a lower dose of > Armour. > Co-Moderator > Phil > > >
Guest guest
Hi all - brief refrsher. Ive been low T for years. Total Test was 262 last Dec at age 41, and we decided to try Testim. Made my ED much worse. Also induced quick testicular atrophy, (though I am not especially concerned about that). Anyway, I went off Testim - Urologist gave me a 21 day course of Clomid. Clomid restored some sexual function. Labs after 10days cessation of Clomid were: TT 419. T3 uptake 30.1% T4 8 ug/nl (4.4.-12.4) Calculated T7 (FTI) 2.41 (1.05-4.50) TSH: 1.6 (0.3-5.1) FSH 4.4. LH 5.6 Prolactin 6.4 (3-30 range) Uro said he had nothing further to offer me except testim and Cialis. Decided to go to see a new endo last week. After 4weeks off of Clomid, doc took more labs This time TT is 293 and I have elevtated prolactin (this time 18.2 on 2-17 range), which could explain my overall low T levels. Doc wants me to re-test prolactin in 2 weeks, but is allowing me to re-start T (injectable this time) if I choose. Should I wait on the T until my re-test (and possible MRI)? Is TRT contraindicated with hyperprolactinmeia? Anyone know why I had a low prolactin reading (on a 3-30 scale) at the Uro and a high prolactin reading (2-17 scale) with the Eddo? Any help is deeply appreciated. > > > > > From: growaatl <jzeinner@> > > > Subject: story and update > > > > > > Date: Friday, February 5, 2010, 6:37 PM > > > I was first diagnosed with borderline > > > Low T in 1996 at age 28 (low 300s) > > > > > > Last fall (age 41) my TT level was 262, shbg-17( and low > > > free T too but I dont have it handy). Guest guest
IF you had an orgasm 24 hrs before labs this can show a higher level of prolactin but then the Clomid might have done this also it's hard to say. I would wait and be safe going on TRT is for life and it's hard to figure out why your low going on it. Guest guest
Hi For your thyroid labs you actually need free t3 and free t4 tested.
