Guest guest
Marc if " My question is this, and I will present a hypothetical outcome for this question. Lets say my T stays low, and my Estrogen levels are normal,.....PLUS my brain MRI doesn't show anything? To me it says it's still my pituitary, and I am secondary. What do I ask him about if that is the case? Is this when I would try HCG, or is it Clomid which I also have heard about? " And Your LH and FSH levels are still on the low end yes your Pituitary is not working right and it could be from an old head injury that could have down this as over time it's not keeping up. You could try HCG Only doing 100 IU's / day see if this brings your levels up and you feel better. If not then go to Gels or shots if gels do 250 IU's every 3 days on shots do 250 IU's the 2 days each before your next T shot that would start at 100 mgs / week. Do get an ACTH Stim. test to be sure your Adrenals are getting the message to make Corisoil. And test Thyroid. Guest guest
Phil,....I know I am still getting ahead of myself, but I don't want to waste several more months if my doc won't cooperate. I hope he will, but I am sure you realize why I am asking. I have only been tested once in my life for AM Cortisol and it was via blood work. This is the result stripped out of my file I keep of all bloodwork. Cortisol Test AM 2005 – 21.0 / High marker was 22.0 mcg/dl My thyroid tests have always been normal, but I have never had the extensive tests some of you guys have done. The last had a rise for sure, but still under 2. TSH Tests 1.18 / 1.04 / 1.15 / 1.04 / 1.69 T4 Free Test December 2009 – 1.3 Those TSH readings are in ascending order from 2004 to the last in December of 2009. I was rear-ended 2 times when I was younger, and my chiropractor says he can see 2 whiplash injuries to my neck. I have also taken some hard licks to my head as well. The worst was diving off a horse I was trying to break at full gallop where my head bounced off the ground very hard. I saw stars and came close to blacking out. That was many years ago though. I also boxed in an amateur league for a few years,......once again way back in my younger days. I appreciate all of the suggestions and help. Guest guest
Other tests that can indicate a pitutary issue are Test the Free T3 and Free T4 with TSH if all are low.... Get an ACTH Stim. test as Phil said but make sure they test the ACTH before the test begins...you will find they are usually not willing to do this even when you ask. And you can have a GH stim. test this can be dicey too as they are not always administered correctly and can therefore give false readings good luck, Judy
Guest guest
More and more men are coming home from the war with pituitary problems due to road side bombs. Football pros are ending up with Pituitary Problems and Boxers so it's out there now Dr. know more about it today then they did 28 yrs ago when I got hurt. The best way to tell on Adrenals is a 4x's in a day Saliva test you need to have high in range levels in the morning going down by bedtime. You don't need a Dr. to buy this test and the best short test for Thyroid is Free T4 and Free T3 with TSH. Guest guest
I second that. I am currently rehabbing my brain from multiple concussions I sustained while playing rugby in college and after I did a salivary test and hormone profile, I found out that I was severely deficient in everything - especially cortisol, testosterone and growth hormone. As a side note, some docs even speculate that the dementia boxers and football players get later on in life resulting from the head injuries is a result of the hormone deficiencies the head injuries caused. They are also discovering that even a single minor concussion can lead to neurological complications later on in life. So, it is is very, very important for you to get your hormones back in check before more damage is done to your brain. Guest guest
Thanks once again. My T4 Free was not low 6 months ago, but I have nothing else to go on. I have never had a T3 Free done as you can tell. I also played football from the 'peewee' leagues up to my senior year in HS,......forgot about that one. I think my only injury was a hyper-extended knee though. Also took a spill off a dirt bike with no helmet and clocked myself,......again years ago. Now that you folks have made me think about it, I guess my brain has been shocked many times. I will try and keep it simple with my doc. One step at a time, but I want to ask him if he is open to all of this stuff. He will love to see me that late today with a list of questions to ask. LOL Time to hit the shower, and get ready for my appointment. > > > From: marc200134470 <cfs38@...> > > Subject: Re: One last stupid question,........ > > > > Date: Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 3:34 PM > > > > > > Phil,....I know I am still getting ahead of myself, but I > > don't want to waste several more months if my doc won't > > cooperate.
