Guest guest
Is this Dr Jon? Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile My appointment with Dr. Crisler My first visit cost $495. He doesn't take insurance. When I was in his office he talked very little. He asked why I was there and I told him he was recommeded by Phil and I was looking for a Dr. that would analyze all my hormones and balance them. He looked at the 2 years worth of labs I brought in and entered them into his computer while I sat there with very little conversation. He gave me a physical and told me to wait for the blood tests and the Rhein 24hr urine hormonal tests before he would say anything. I had to pay $225 for a Rheim 24hr urine hormonal test because it wasn't covered by insurance. Dr. Crisler also give me a form for blood work labs that I took in my city. He wouldn't let me see the lab results before he talked to me. In order to discuss my lab results with him, which I had not seen so couldn't form any intelligent questions about them, I had to pay him $60 for a phone consultation. He read my labs for the first time silently in the phone consultation which lasted a total of 10 min. Not knowing what the labs showed I asked him how were my adrenals, he said fine. I asked him how was my thyroid hormones, he said fine. I asked him how was my E2, he said fine. He said I should start HCG 250Iu 2x a week. My testicles have not shrunk from TRT and I don't relish the thought of injecting HCG 2x aweek for life so f..k that. He also said he wanted to measure another hormone and would send a script to the labs that I use. When they finally emailed me my blood lab and Rhein results to me after a few days, which they charged me $5 for, I noticed that the blood labs did not include T, Bioavailable T and E2...how did he know my E2 was ok? The Rhein 24hr hormone test showed total E2 excreted in 24hrs but not the level. So I emailed him to also send a script for these lab tests. I got no response. I called his office and asked the secretary why my email wasn't answered and she said to do the hormone lab tests first, pay $60 to discuss the hormone results with the DR and ask him at that time for the other tests. When I ordered some compounded T gel from his office they charged me $35 shipping and handling. Life Extension Pharmacy and University compounding pharmacy both charge $6 shipping and handling! He may be the Dr. " king " of hormones but you can't talk to him or ask him any questions via phone or email without paying him $60 even though you paid $495 for an initial minimal talk visit. I hope the other Doctors recomended by this site are more patient friendly!
Guest guest
Yes, I am not too happy about their policy of not letting me see my labs UNTIL I talk to him. I would like to have them in hand to see if there is anything I have a question about. Initial visit went up to $495? I think it was around $300 in 2007. Jim From: MisterX225@... Guest guest
I'm pretty sure that they MUST let you see your lab results. It is a part of YOUR medical records and by law (HIPAA, I think) you have a right to them. Of course, he could then turn around and refuse to discuss them with you for being such a " demanding " patient. That's his right too. Guest guest
So far this conversation has been quite negative. I say, your loss, not his. Most of Dr Crisler's patients are very pleased and can't say enough nice things about him and of his level of care. Perhaps he is the wrong doctor for you. It is very common that I doctor reviews lab results with you before you are allowed a copy. The fee charged by the doctor is clearly $495 as documented here: http://www.allthingsmale.com/consultations.html Best of luck finding someone better. I always get a copy AFTER the appt and I have definitely seen things in my labs that I wanted to question but it was too late, I would have to schedule another $60 phone appt! From: MisterX225@... Guest guest
I am so sorry you had this bad visit with Dr. I have never heard anyone have this happen to them and the next time I talk to him I will be asking why this happened. Guest guest
Dr.'s don't let one see labs until they go over them first and talk to about them. I have yet to see my labs before seeing the Dr. and I have seen a lot of them. I don't know what happened hear but I sent an Email to Dr. about this. And going back many yrs. my first visit with a new Dr. would cost me out of my pocket anywhere from $500 to $1500. To talk to Dr. is like seeing him in his office but I don't feel he should charge for a follow or call back on a lab test. Guest guest
Let me clear this up. Number one if there is no client /patient relationship establish and he releases those labs work to you and there are abnormalities on them you do not decide to show up. HE IS LIABLE FOR THEM and can be sued if they are not identified event though you are not technically his patient. Its very easy for people to get test then just leave goto their dr and then be treated once the abnormalities were found. SO YES HE IS RIGHT IN THAT ASPECT..LEGALLY ..REmember he went to law school he should know !! > > > From: Marc Michaud <MisterX225@...> > > Subject: Re: Re: My appointment with Dr. Crisler > > > > Date: Thursday, November 5, 2009, 8:37 PM > > > > What's the harm of a copy? > > Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile > > > > Re: My appointment with Dr. > > Crisler > > > > > > I'm pretty sure that they MUST let you see your lab > > results. Guest guest
After speaking to a few legal freinds of mine and DR O looking at the fact that practicing medicine by walking the fine lines, lawyers would eat us alive if some thing happened. If a patient that had abnormal liver enzyme on a test which had the Dr's name on it and that person suddenly down the road had liver issue or cirrosis. Even though the dr never saw them, but the test had his name on it. HE IS LIABLE because it should have been addressed then, but the client patient relationship was never established. Once the relationship is established and you are treating them then there is no issue at all. > > > > > > > > > From: Marc Michaud <MisterX225@> > > > > > Subject: Re: Re: My appointment > > > with Dr. Crisler > > > > > > > > > > Date: Thursday, November 5, 2009, 8:37 PM > > > > > > > > > > What's the harm of a copy? > > > > > Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile > > > > > > > > > > Re: My appointment with > > > Dr. > > > > > Crisler > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I'm pretty sure that they MUST let you see your > > > lab > > > > > results. Guest guest
Dr john and shippen are great at testosterone, but when it comes to adrenal and thyroid they are not as aggressive as other Dr's. I can not say anything negative about Dr or Shippen because they have helped so many men. People ask me how they are and I tell them to go see them for themselves. Depending on the person location I tell people in mid west to go Dr J west coast mariano, and east coast I help run a clinic here out side of philly which takes a more indept look then most dr's. > > > From: Marc Michaud <MisterX225@...> > > Subject: Re: Re: My appointment with Dr. Crisler > > > > Date: Thursday, November 5, 2009, 10:52 PM > > > > I was considering seeing him. Guest guest
We have also changed out policy as well because one we are putting our self at higher risk and number 2 alot of money is lost in the long haul business wise. So its a no brainer to make these alterations. We have spoiled our clients by having lab work sent to them as it comes in and if they don not hear back with in a matter of 12 hour or so then they are getting pissed. I tell them if you can find another dr office that gets back to with you promptly in less then 24 hours then let me know. I know some top dr's will leave paitents hanging for weeks on ends or screw up blood work. Office flow is crucial for success of a business. I have heard stories of people calling in dr for phone follow ups spending 3 minutes of actually time on the phone going over tests then spend 10 minutes talking about what the hell they did that weekend. I know linder charges 3.50 a minute no matter what he talks about. then charges 20 dollars a script, then only gives one month refill. He is rapping people left and right people goto him because he's a nice guy and listens ..Shit if i am getting paid 280 an hour i sit and listen too LOL > > > > > > > From: Marc Michaud <MisterX225@> > > > > Subject: Re: Re: My appointment > > with Dr. Crisler > > > > > > > > Date: Thursday, November 5, 2009, 8:37 PM > > > > > > > > What's the harm of a copy? > > > > Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile > > > > > > > > Re: My appointment with > > Dr. > > > > Crisler > > > > > > > > > > > > I'm pretty sure that they MUST let you see your > > lab > > > > results. Guest guest
He is protecting himself. You can still have him draw your blood, decide you don't want to be a patient the very next day and get your lab results sent to you or another doctor. In that case, he would protect himself by documenting the fact that he tried unsuccessfully to provide you with a diagnosis. > > > > > From: Marc Michaud <MisterX225@> > > > Subject: Re: Re: My appointment with Dr. Crisler > > > > > > Date: Thursday, November 5, 2009, 8:37 PM > > > > > > What's the harm of a copy? > > > Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile > > > > > > Re: My appointment with Dr. > > > Crisler > > > > > > > > > I'm pretty sure that they MUST let you see your lab > > > results. Guest guest
I'd like to clear up a few things and misinterpretations. First I wasn't complaining I was only describing my visit to Dr. Crisler for the benefit of this group so they can see what to perhaps expect. The $495 was not a surprise it is clearly laid out on his web site. The problem with the labs is that the Rhein 24hr hormonal labs are tough to interpret for a layman. My 10 min $60 consultation to review my labs was unsatisfactory as described in my previous post. After I received my labs 2 days after the short consultation I had many questions on what the Rhein hormonal labs meant. But I didn't feel I should have to pay another $60 to discuss them with him. In addition he does not answer emails. After my initial visit I had a few questions and emailed him those questions. He never answered my email. My total visit with Dr. Crisler lasted 45min because he was running an hour late and there were other guys in the waiting room. Was my visit an unusual case...I don't know because I'm the first on this forum to describe in detail what the total visit was like for me. Perhaps those who had a great visit recently would be kind enough to post more detail other than gosh he was great? > > > > My first visit cost $495. He doesn't take insurance. Guest guest
I think you're very misguided if you choose not to do the HCG injections. Nearly everyone who uses HCG swears by it - it does a whole lot more than just stop testicular atrophy. It also affects how you feel, your sense of well-being, your sex drive, your fertility, etc. And while you do have to inject twice a week, it's the insulin syringes - so thin, sometimes I can't even feel it. It does NOT have to be IM, sub-cutaneous works just as well. I confirmed this by reading a study on pubmed. My experience with Dr. matches most people here. I've only seen him in his office once, but he took his time with me. I have had some phone consultations where he seemed distracted and wasn't very talkative, but that seems to be the exception, not the rule. All things considered, based on my experiences with him vs my experiences with other doctors, I wouldn't consider switching. JKE He said I should start HCG > 250Iu 2x a week. My testicles have not shrunk from TRT and I don't relish the thought of injecting HCG 2x aweek for life so f..k that.
Guest guest
Still you should not have to pay to take about your labs again if you all ready paid once and all was not covered. He dose get a lot of questions about things from his men and if he sent all his time with them he would not have time to see other men. Men or people that are sick do have a lot of problems and take them seriously and over do it calling over and over again. If you have a lot of questions make a list I do this when I see my Dr. because you get side tracked with your talking to the Dr. Co-Moderator Phil > From: mqsymth <alphadennis@...> > Subject: Re: My appointment with Dr. Crisler > > Date: Friday, November 6, 2009, 12:11 PM > I'd like to clear up a few things and > misinterpretations. > > First I wasn't complaining I was only describing my visit > to Dr. Crisler for the benefit of this group so they can see > what to perhaps expect. The $495 was not a surprise it > is clearly laid out on his web site. Guest guest
Why on earth do you think it is my job to explain the intracacies of every assay I draw to my patients? It's my job to treat patinets, and answer questrions that pertain to that treatment--NOT teach you all about TRT. Do you think I can spend two hours for each office visit? Actually, I would love to, and charge $500 for each office visit! LOL. IOW, you are making demands of me NO other doctor could or would fulfill. We also do not appreciate your nasty email, or your defamation of our efforts on the forum. You need a dose of reality. > > > > > > > > My first visit cost $495. He doesn't take > > insurance.
