Hello,

I am mostly a lurker but read most of the emails and respond when I

feel I can offer something positive or be of help to someone...but I

tell you I am so discouraged right now and I feel that if this pain

keeps getting worse that I am just not going to make it..

Everything that can possibly be in a flare is..My hands hurt especially

at night..my right shoulder, my low back, my left hip, both my knees,

my ribs, and my ankles all hurt...The worst of my pain is in my left

hip..I can just barely raise it up high enough to walk up a step..when

I tried to step over in the tub today it was very painful and near

impossible..

I take enbrel 50mg once a week..I cannot take any nsaids or arthritis

meds orally due to barretts esophagus..I currently take ultram and

tylenol arthritis..it only takes the edge off and most of the time

doesnt do that..I go to pain management, and a rheumatologist..I just

saw pain doc last week and he did not change anything..I am waiting for

rheumy to call me but someone has to do something soon...

Anyway I just needed to vent..thank you for listening..any

encouragement you could offer would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks in Advance,

Vickey

[Editor's Note: Vickey, I'm sorry you are going through such a bad spell. Did

your pain doctor say why he is not willing to change anything at this time?

Whenever a doctor says " no " to something that seems so obviously a " yes " , I

always push for an explanation and if the explanation seems nonsensical or

stubborn, I say so and also mention that they are being medically irresponsible.

That often scares them into thinking I might cause trouble later, LOL. Keep

calling the rheumy's office - don't just wait for them to get around to

returning your call. Call before the office opens and tell them of your agony.

If the rheumy is not too far from you, you might want to plop yourself in

his/her office. Lastly, if the pain is that severe, you might need to go to the

Emergency Room in a GOOD hospital. Please let us know how you're doing when you

feel well enough. Kathy F.]
