Guest guest
does swim 3 times a week and uses the hot tub frequently. Certain swimming strokes make her knees hurt more (breast stroke) she doesn't do that because of pain. I have tried to get her to eat small meals more frequently but she won't. She is afraid it will bother her stomach in school and won't.
Guest guest
Greetings, My mom also has problems eating. She has switched to eating a few small meals a day and that seems to help. She also has severe knee pain. The only relief she has found is to do light pool therapy. She exercises in the pool 2 times a week and that seems to help stretch and relax her knees. Guest guest
Liz, If your daughter has taken both Celebrex and Vioxx, they can cause stomach problems. To be on the safe side, I take Vioxx with 2 crackers. Have your daughters knees been Xrayed, MRIed, etc. to find out what the exact problem is? If that was me I'd beg for every test I could get. Could just be simple inflammation...but get some tests done on the knees. Get the knee facts. Has your daughter tried Anaprox? When I have a body part that hurts more, I stop the exercise stuff, totally rest, put on the heat on injured part and do that as long as I need to. Once that is taken care of, resume exercise, slowly. My kneecaps used to pop out frequently, after the last one did, Drs. popped it back it, said some people have loose knees or something...I as supposed to have surgery - so the Dr. said...one more time I ran and didn't look bad. Nothing wrong with my knees now. Back to the pain, here's a couple of ideas: Ultram (that's a pain med) Robaxin (that's a muscle relaxant) if this really IS nerve pain, maybe try Elavil. Elavil is an anti-depressant but works wonderfully on pain and is well documented as such. Ultram DOES need to be taken with food, not Robaxin of Elavil. Also, with my back, once I switched from cold packs to heat packs, it made a big difference. I hope you've got a good orthopedist. Maybe also get some other opinions. ~ Gretchen
