HI Jessie,

These are exactly the symptoms that first presented themselves in my

daughter. She's six now; was diagnosed at five. She was nearly

misdiagnosed with separation anxiety, until a very sharp psychiatric

social worker noticed that her need to be with me constantly stemmed

from her compulsion of seeking reassurances to her constant, obsessive

" worries. "

As someone else has mentioned, after diagnosis your first task is to

research the professionals who can provide ongoing care. In our case,

our daughter has made great progress with a combo of CBT, done by a

therapist who specializes in treating OCD, and Prozac, prescribed by a

pediatric pharmacologist.

Best wishes to you,

Lesli (San Francisco Bay)

Jessie,

I am a nurse practitioner and a PsA patient for 14 years now. When I

was on injectable MTX it came in a 100 mg vial and I took 25 mg/week.

The most important thing when accessing a multiple dose vial is to use

sterile technique and thoroughly clean stopper before each draw with

rubbing alcohol and really SOAK the stopper and let it dry. Then, of

course don't touch it with anything but the sterile needle. The

rubber is self-sealing so even with several puncture holes, it won't

let bacteria in. Some meds are stable for 30 days even when

preservative free (that's the case with a lot of the IV flushes used

in the hospital especially in the nursery because the babies can't

have preservatives).

I feel for you on having to waste so much each week and I know my

insurance company would be waving red flags like crazy. And YES you

should always question anything that seems awry at the pharmacy. I

have caught mistakes myself and of course when you're a provider they

bend over backwards to make it right (I think especially since they

were caught by a provider and they don't want bad PR).

Just my thoughts and I hope they may help a little.

Rae
