Guest guest
Has anyone taken sulfasalazine for their PA? My rheumy originally started me on the standard course of MTX when I was diagnosed last fall, and I was maintaining well once I got to a dose of 20mg/week oral. In the spring, I began having week-long nausea, fatigue, and lots of problems with bile. It turns out the MTX was the culprit, having caused medication induced hepatitis. I had to discontinue it for about 6 weeks for my liver function to return to normal (it was pretty bad) and then I opted to give sulfasalazine a try, as I had taken it for about 2 years for ulcerative colitis many years ago, before my UC went into remission (or as my rheumy thinks, changed it's target...). I ve had no problems with the sulfasalazine, and take a 2 gram a day dose, however, where before I was getting along really well, the medication now seems to work just somewhat, and I have more pain and stiffness than I like. I'm unsure if I am experiencing an increased severity flare, if the medication is losing effectiveness, or if my expectations are just too high. Thanks! in NC
