I had a triple done in 94, took several months to get over it, so I imagine

it will take several months for your husband to get completely well from all

that he had done. Good luck to him

I had both feet done at the same time a few years back and I have to say

that it was about two years before I could walk with out pain. I had both

legs in a case for many months so I didn't have a lot of fatigue, because I

was in a wheel chair. just quite a bit of pain. I would do it again in a

heart beat. It has keep me walking.

My husband with CMT just finished having surgery on his feet. He had a

triple arthodosis...(ankle fusion, I don't know how to spell it), tendon

transfer, Achilles tendon lengthen, and something with his heel. He had the

right foot done in September and the left foot in December. The right foot

is still very sore. We expected that with the large amount of surgery;

however, we were wondering how long a normal recovery takes. Has anyone

else

had all four procedures at the same time? How long did it take until is

felt

good?

Thanks,

Janice,

Did you have both feet operated on at the same time?? I had my left foot

operated on this past November and I will have my right foot operated on

this coming Tuesday. The doctor would only do one foot at a time. How did

you get to the restroom, bathe etc. if you had both feet done. I could not

bear any weight on my foot for eight weeks. Just wondering.

I was in the hospital for a month. While there I asked the doctor if they

had a tub. He said sure but no one used it but if you want to find. The

nurses were not happy about having to take me down to use it but I went

every day. Then when I got home I had a chair potty and I used a board to

transfer to the chair. I used the board to transfer to the wheel chair.

Now as for taking a bath, it was a site to see. The bath tub was upstairs

and my bedroom was down stairs. Head first I would slide out of the bed.

Then pull myself to the stairs. I would put on those pads that basketball

players put on their knees and I would go up the stairs on my knees slide

on my bottom to the bathroom pull my self to the toilet then transfer over

to the side of the tub and slide in the water, leaving my feet hanging out

the side of the tub. Getting in that warm water was the high light of my

day. I think about it now and I think I must had been out of my mine, but I

guess if there is a will there is a way.

I really don't think I would have the stamina to use a board to transfer

myself. Plus our doorways to the bathrooms are not wide enough for a

wheelchair to get through. Also, what about cooking and doing the

laundry??? Even warming something in the microwave would require some

standing since mine is higher than the cabinet top. If sitting in a

wheelchair, I couldn't get the clothes out of the washing machine. Gee, I

know where there is a will there is a way; but I would have to have some

help I believe.

There is no way I could have surgery on both feet at the same time. I don't

have the strength in my arms to lift myself from a wheelchair to another

seat. I hope I never have to get the other foot done. As long as it doesn't

bother me, I plan on leaving it the way it is.>>>>>>
