Guest guest
Hi , I am 2 weeks and 2 days, I still feel the need to take the pain killers for my pain in on the back left where my incision is. Tape came off Tuesday. Thank God I can't see the incision. Mine is about 8 inches long. AHHH, finally, a shower. lol. I've only really had one spasm, but my stomach hurts almost everytime I eat. So I try not to eat too much. Which is a good thing cause I need to lose weigh. I see Joanne said she had toast have you tried it? I'm afraid to try anything like that. The most adventurous thing I've eaten is Chicken Breast. Nothing crispy or with a crust. I guess it's my mind set. I hope you and Joanne are doing well and that you keep making great strides toward being able to eat without worry. You take care and talk to you soon. cthymunroe <cthymunroe@...> wrote: Just wanted to say hi to everyone. Today is my two week anniversary from my surgery. Guest guest
I hope you're getting on ok - i saw your post about me eating toast, I was so nervous and hadn't tried anything more solid than scrambled egg or sausage casserole. Under Pippa's expert guidance I managed to eat a slice of toast - each mouthful was washed down with some tea. I've not tried it again ... still feel really nervous about it. Guest guest
Well, I was feeling very brave and we ordered cheese pizza, and eureka, had no problem what so ever. I am taking medication to help force the food down. I'm glad I don't have much of an appetite because that way I can stay on the eating schedule I'm on right now and I should be able to lose weight while eating healthy food. I am still afraid to eat raw veggies or beef, but might try that next week. I am out of work rightnow as they let me go when I got sick because I was on probation. So as of July 16th I am ready and able to look for work according to the doc. Did you have a lap or open? I'm sorry Ican't remember. Glad you're doing well. Seems the three of us who had it done within a couple of days of each other are progressing great. AND I even felt well enough to participate in extra ciricular acitivity (if you know what I mean) wink wink. Have a great weekend and keep up the good work. Guest guest
Hi Astrid, thank you. It may not be a good thing lol. As more pizza means more weight lol. Yes it was nice eating it and not having it come back up again. The crust was soft so that helped. I think I'm going to stick to mostly fish and chicken and pasta as my main foods as this will assist in weight lose. I am dying to try a burger, but am not that brave yet. Thank you for your encouragement. Everyone here is so wonderful. It has made my recovery that much more tolerable. Have a great weekend and take care of yourself. Guest guest
Jo and - Great job on eating pizza. I had pizza a few days ago and it was really exciting. I haven't had veggies or beef yet either. I am at nexium and maybe a couple spoons fulls of pain meds a day. Again, my spasms are out of control. i told my surgeon and he told me to make an appointment with my gastro doc this week. I am hoping that I can find meds that will ease the pain. I am scheduled to go back to work in a week and I am panicking about having these stupid spasm start when I am working. My sleeping is also still a problem. I normally curl up into a ball when I sleep and this whole sleeping on my back with a million pillows under me is very uncomfortable. I am sure things will go back to normal. I just have to be patient. Good luck on your food intake this week. Guest guest
Hi , So sorry to hear about your spasms. The thing that works for me is a liquid drug you can get at any drugstore. It is to control hearburn, but as it contains magnesium, it also relaxed the muscles of the E. It is very harmless and works for me. In Holland it is called Rennie Refluxine, but you will most likely not have that in the States. I always used to sleep on my left side (always, and remained in that position all night long). Shortly after the myotomie and during the period when my lungs were flooding, I couldn't do that. I could only sleep on my back and my husband tells me I still sleep on my back a lot. So, I obviously got used to it. Will keep my fingers crossed for you! Greetings from Holland,Astridcthymunroe <cthymunroe@...> wrote: Jo and - Great job on eating pizza. Guest guest
Thats really great news - what's the eating schedule that you're on? I've had a couple of bad days these last 2 days so confidence has hit rock bottom again. Feeling like it's all been for nothing at the moment, have exactly the same feeling I had before with food stuck tonight. What medication are you on? I'm due to have a follow up appointment with my surgeon but haven't got a date through for that. Can't believe you've had pizza, thats really fantastic ... keep it up. x > > > I hope you're getting on ok - i saw your post about me eating toast, I was > so nervous and hadn't tried anything more solid than scrambled egg or > sausage casserole. Guest guest
Dear Joanne, I am sorry to hear that you are having problems. Please don't compare yourself with . I think that she is probably unusual insomuch that she is eating pizza already. As far as I know most people don't get to that stage for several weeks. I know that you have been very nervous about your eating and it is possible that this is contributing to your problems. Then it becomes a vicious circle. What have you eaten today that you think might have got stuck? Guest guest
I remember I did the thing too for the endoscopy and I still had food from way before. What can you do? This morning I regurgitated probably 1/4 cup of water that didn't go down last night. Guest guest
I too use nifedipine when really bad, but some times get a headache, still I keep away from anything else no surgery for me as I manage fine since I was diagnosed in 1995.Regards,"Donna K." <freyascloak@...> wrote: Hi Andy - I'm the nifedipine queen! Have you tried it? I know it doesn't help everyone, but I don't eat soups anymore - just soft & wet, but only for about a 1 1/2 hour window after taking the pill. And I'm getting to the point of guzzling water, too. I rarely have a headache from the med. Best of luck to you! Guest guest
maybe you've already answered this question and if so, forgive me for being redundant, but have you had any tests lately to see what condition your esophagus is in? Are you symptoms stable? I found that my symptoms were the same for about 5 years then almost overnight got very bad. The nifedipine didn't work for my dinner tonight - didn't hold down a thing - including the water I tried to guzzle. Came up through the nose. Aargh. It's like almost drowning - feels horrible. Guest guest
Hello all. I have been a member for two weeks. My original posting was basically about starting to feel hopeless. But after reading these postings I guess I am pretty lucky. Some of your situations sound really bad and I admire you for what you all cope with every day. Guess this is what group therapy means! So, I travel a lot for my work and am in Hong Kong now and on to Bangkok. I know nothing about the various herbs and pills I see in Asia. Has anyone tried any of this with success or not? I'm willing to be a guinea pig and report back. I currently take Humira, MTX, Voltaren and the occasional Valium.
