++Hi Millie. Welcome to our wonderful group. I suggest you eliminate

raw dairy kefir too, since it contains sugar that feeds candida, just

like other dairy products except butter. When kefir is fermented the

lactose is actually changed into another sugar, called galactose.

++That's wonderful your husband is feeling better!

Thanks Bee and Genevieve!

Bee, I understand why you advocate the removal of raw milk kefir, but

do you bring it back in at some point when/provided that Candida is

under control? Is there a place for kefir in a " healthy " person's

diet? Are you currently using any fermented (raw) dairy? I am also

feeding my son kefir grains (as per Dom's protocol for autistic

children) and have seen great improvement. Would this also feed

Candida/pathogens?

As far as I am concerned, we will follow this diet indefinitely and I

have no desire to ever add back grains or sugars or processed foods,

but do think there is value to fermented dairy foods such as kefir

down the road?

Thank you for your thoughts and expertise,

Millie

+++Hi Millie. Yes, fermented foods like kefir and yogurt are very

beneficial for people who don't have candida. I haven't written up a

transition diet yet, but plan to do so.

  • 1 year later...

Hi,

I am a 51 year old mom of three girls who was diagnosed with PA and Fibromyalgia

approximately two years ago after a serious car accident

and what the doctors assumed was a case of Lyme disease.

After much trial and error, I now take methotrexate and infusions of remicade

every six weeks for the PA and Lyrica and Cymbalta for the Fibro.

Some days are really good and others not so good, but without these medications,

I know I would not be able to get out of bed every day.

I am fortunate to have a husband in the health care profession and is very

understanding. And my three girls are 19, 14, & 12 and are able to really run

things on my bad days.

The sad thing about autoimmune diseases is that since you don't LOOK ill

people can't really understand the pain and how it changes your life.

On good days I do what I can do and on bad days I do less.

Also, for anyone who needs to take an antibiotic, I had a really bad experience

with the drug Levaquin. I had a sinus infection and my primary wanted to treat

it aggressively since I was due for a Remicade infusion in the next few weeks. I

wasn't aware that it had a " black box " warning saying it could cause joint pain.

A few days after taking it, I woke up unable to even get out of bed. I took a

few rounds of the prednisone packets to get rid of the terrible pain. to this

day I think it has caused some irreversible damage. I took this when I was

younger and never had a problem. But I would stay away from this for anyone with

a joint-related problem.

Glad to be part of the group!

Laurie,

I was interested in hearing that you were diagnosed with PA after a serious

car accident. I was also in a serious car accident in 2004 and developed severe

psoriasis (hands and feet) and PA soon after and had wondered if there was a

connection?Unfortunately for me, nothing prescribed has helped much and am

always tired and have severe joint pain.

Regards Doug
