Fatigue with Humira?

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know that since I found this group about 4

months ago, I have been greatly encouraged by the information,

opinions and even complaints of the group. I think that the best

part was just to feel, really for the first time, that I am not

alone with this condition. I was embarrased enough most of my life

to feel that I was the only one with psoriasis, and that was before

the arthritis set in. I also have gained perspective by realizing

that my suffering is mild compared to others.

I have chimed in on several subjects including the debate about

doctors and medicines. I would like you to know that my reservations

about the current state of medical care were not strong enough to

keep me from jumping in line when I was approved for Humira!

I know enough to be cautiously optimistic about the long term

results, but I can tell you that within hours, 90% of my arthritis

pain had subsided. In the 6 days since, much of my joint swelling

has gotten smaller. I have not seen any effect on my psoriasis yet.

The only side effect that I have felt so far has been an serious

fatigue. I start my day feeling great, but by lunch time, I am so

tired that I can barely get through the rest of the day. However, if

this is the trade-off, I will be glad to be tired every day. It has

been more than 15 years since I could walk without foot pain and

frankly, the feeling is taking some getting used to. I keep catching

myself, moving carefully as before, and being suprised that it

doesn't hurt.

After hearing about the horrors of the high cost and battles with

insurance, I was suprised that my HMO fully covers Humira. I pay my

regular co-pay of $25.00 for a month's supply (2 injections).

Although many HMO's are not known for the high quality of their

care, it may be worth considering for the drug benefit alone!

I realize that this will probably not last forever, and I know it

will be devastating when the disease adjusts to conquer Humira, but

I wish that everyone could have a chance to feel a few pain free

days as I have recently.
