I too decided to take Vioxx for the inflammation, diagnosed with arthritis.

Although I don't think all this pain is caused from arthritis. Vioxx,

according to the pamphlet from pharmacy, is used for inflammation, pain, even

fever. Doc said it would not hurt me to try it. The reason I'm not taking

anything for nerve pain right now is because I don't like taking too many

meds. I have Ultram, but my decision not to take while I'm on Vioxx. So far,

I don't feel any different, no better at all. Not only do I have nerve pain,

my muscles hurt. If I sit too long, I can hardly walk when I first get up.

STIFF in the hips. Can't stand very long either. So, it's like the old saying

" Damned it ya do, damned it ya don't. "

Luckily, our insurance helps with meds. Insurance just changed this year, we

now have a co-pay instead of having to pay the entire amount and wait for the

insurance company to refund us. The Vioxx costs me 15.00 for a month supply,

25 mg. I'll give it time to see if it helps. We are all different. My body

doesn't react too well to meds, celebrex did nothing for me, keeping my

fingers crossed that sooner or later we will find something that helps. I'm

glad it helps you. Who knows, maybe another week will be a different story.

, Becky,

Just to be clear, the Vioxx is to bring the inflammation in my hips and

back down. In the short time I have been on it - wow - it does the job.

With no inflammation, no pain HOWEVER, for the nerve pain - those

shooting jolts that come and go, I am still taking Elavil and as long as

I take it regularly, no nerve jolts. The Elavil also helps me with

balance, tremor, sleep and mood - ALMOST 1 stop shopping! LOL and Elavil

is generic and REAL inexpensive, compared to the Vioxx, which IS

expensive. I went off Neurontin last summer, the higher doses caused a

bad tremor upsurge in the morning, and I too am a morning person.

Neurontin was VERY VERY EXpensive!
