Guest guest
Hi, I have finally acheived success with Humira, both skin and arthritis. I have been on it for 4 months today. I just wanted to say to anyone who is trying it, give it time. I was about to go off it last month because my skin had not improved, and even seemed a bit worse when I was in the Derm.'s office. I was telling him that I did not believe it would work for the Psoriasis. He told me to give it one more month. I'm happy to say that the lesions on my skin are nearly gone. They is no redness, no scaling or itching, and it is fading. I am thrilled!! The arthritis is definatly under control, otherwise I would be in horrible pain with the damp weather. I also take prednisone for autoimmune hepatitis (immune system attack resulting in severe damage and inflammation to my live). I have weaned down to 15mg from 40 which has been quite difficult both mentally and physically. I'll be switching over to another immuosuppresant with fewer side effects soon to keep the autoimmune hep under control. I do have a few Cushing Syndrome symptoms, but not the disease. That would be from the prednsione.(round face, buffalo hump between my shoulders, a few lumps (fat redistribution) on my neck. And, of course I saty hungry all the time, and have to take extra calcium. As far as I know I have had no adverse effects from the Humira. I am praying I won't. and that the reliew won't be short lived. I guess I just have to weigh the benefits agains the horrible quality of life I was living this time last year, and the side effects of the drugs. I may have been on a transplant list, or had cirrhosis by now had they not found the AIH, and may have lost my mind with the psoriasis ( it was terrible this time last year), as well as the joint pain. At times it was debilitating. Needless to say, it's been a very challengeing and frightening year, with both diagnosis given early in 06. I appreciate all the info and support this group gives. Thanks to that, I have learned a lot about this disease. I don't write much, but I do read. I found a good article about Humira that I will enclose. There are some good search tips, and new options on google now. You can have them send you the latest medical articles, newspaper, websites, ect. right to your mailbox automatically on any topic you choose. That is where this article came from. If anyone wants me to tell you how to ge that, let me know. I'll try to list the steps you go through. I hope this finds everyone doing well, or at least getting relief. Blessings and Wellness, Judy
