Thanks to those of you who have been down this road before. I will

>appreciate your help in dealing with this thorny issue.

>

>Steve

Dear Steve,

I am sending you addresses to list devoted entirely to disability insurance

issues, and it is geared to those with CFIDS/FMS. I learned more here

about going through SSD maze than I did in the 6 years of battling SSA, and

I had a attorney! I just wish I had known about this list earlier.

However, all disability issues are included, not just SSDI.

I put this list addy on my lupus list, and have gotten excellant feedback

from those who subscribed. I had to quit teaching to due to cognitive

problems so I synpathize!

You need to send request to Listserve address.

Your message to DISINISSUES-request@... has been

forwarded to the " list owners " (the people who manage the DISINISSUES

list). If you wanted to reach a human being, you used the correct

procedure and you can ignore the remainder of this message. If you were

trying to send a command for the computer to execute, please read on.

The DISINISSUES list is managed by a LISTSERV server. LISTSERV commands

should always be sent to the " LISTSERV " address, ie

LISTSERV@.... LISTSERV never tries to process messages

sent to the DISINISSUES-request address; it simply forwards them to a

human being, and acknowledges receipt with the present message.

Good luck,

Christie

Doesn't buy anything from LTD -- they are looking for DISABILITIES (specific

SYMPTOMS that prevent you working...), once I clued on to this mindset of

theirs.... proving CFS -- does not buy LTD... Symptoms that can affect work

does!

at least, in my humble opinion.... [ PS: it was a good suggestion]

Do you know when it would be positive? What characteristics of the patien tha

t it shows something? My understanding is that it is not 100% indicative of CFS.

I don't think they can just cancel all of your

insurance like that. I believe they have to offer you

the cobra. I wish I could help you. Best of luck

with this. It's a shame you have to deal with it on

top of everything else.

Hi ,

I went through it last year and it's TOUGH. SDI lost my paperwork twice. When I finally did get paid, it was a big, fat check. But that sure didn't help me when I was stressing over when and if the money for bills would come rolling in. Thank God I have family to lean on who were there for me when I truly needed the help. God didn't abandon me then, and I have faith that He won't abandon me now...That's what gets me through. Hang tough, girl!

disability insurance

Since I am testing twice a week with Compass vision labs I am almost broke. I haven't been paid for the month of sept 06, because they needed my md to extend my disabilty. Disability recieved the claim on 9/20/06 I was getting paid every 2 weeks. Has anybody else delt with this for the state of ca. I didn't know who else to talk to since you guys are my most important support group. Just having a bad day recieved my bill frome my 1st 28 day inpatienty rehab, I owe $20,000Plus I just started my $4,200 IOP due to positive etg. With all this extra lab testing I am broke and desperate.I just found out my etg results on 9/18 and 9/21 were neg. This is my first negatives after 4 positives in a row. But whats funny is I can't figure out what I changed except I stopped eating refined cards ( I thought I must have gut-fermentation)

A good local person is Alan Bacharach. I picked his brain about the different kinds of dissability out there. He knows his stuff. He is with Wealth Stratgies Northwest. 503-517-3140 is his direct line. Or Alan_Bacharach@... . If nothing else he can tell you good questions to ask to make sure you get the coverage you need. Just let him know another DC referred you. Respectfully, Dr. Franchesca HarperFunctional Pain Solutions6956 SW Hampton StTigard, OR 97223p. 503-443-6100f. 503-443-1280

Hi

I was receiving disability benefits for 2 years and suddenly they cut me off

because they say I only had a Mental Condition, not Lyme disease. This in

spite of the fact that they have all my labs and Dr's reports supporting

Lyme Disease.

I must now hire an attorney to help me appeal this decision. Is there anyone

out there that has had to do a similar thing? The attorney is expensive, I

have no income, and there is still no guarantee I will win.

I would really appreciate any help or advise anyone can give me.

Thanks

i am trying to get disability ins from work and i have sent in letters from 3

dr.s all stating that they are treating me for lyme and i am unable to work due

to lyme arthritis, pain and fatigue and the ins co is denying the claim because

my tests are negative.

I have been antibiotics for 2.5 months and still feel really bad.

i have the opportunity to appeal the ins co decision to deny me benefits.....

does anyone have any suggestions on how to approach the situation? I would like

to send info in from dr donta or a LLMD but can't get an appt anytime soon and I

am on all cancellation lists!

do NOT appeal--we did that and got burned--big time. get a lawyer--one with

experience with insurance company denials...if we did that we'd be better off

today!!!...seems that once you do appeals its a binding agreement like

mediation--but get a lwyer who can write letters and ask for meetings and demand

whats your rights,things happen differently!!

worth the money in long run.and if theyre familiar with disability laws

too--bonus--else you may need a diff one for that. Absolutely necessary

(unfortunately) to have a legal advocate aka lawyer on your side for disability

cases that will be hard to prove

like Lyme--if most Drs dont beleive in it, and most insurance companies deny

treatment for it over 1 month then the disability folks have no choice to start

from there and deny it too. You need a strong experienced person to gather the

evidence to prove your case. and it takes a while too.Plus your employer may be

fighting the claim--after all they have to pay part of your benefits and youll

be away from work--useless to them--sort of like paying you for no work

another reason to get a lawyer. Call a few and talk with them--a first 10 min

phone conference should be free--ask their experience with Lyme and chronic

illness disability cases, how many they win etc..youll get a sense of those that

BS and those that know their stuff. Try to call the Lyme support groups in your

state. They may have folks using good atty's they can recommend.

good luck and hang in this time of year is hard--too many summer Lyme cases and

too few good Drs to handle them all. btw you can meanwhile try to provide them

with a pile of papers stating/proving that?

1. Lyme is a clinical diagnosis

2. tests arent reliable and even CDC states they cant be used as basis to

diagnose or say you dont have it

3. The symptoms dictate the ability to work or not and not the tests.

4. IF you first make sure the Dr is unbiased you may wish to offer them to name

a Dr to examine you
