Guest guest
Hi, I am new to this group. I've had psoriasis for approximately 8 years and finally a dermatologist in Manhattan has cleared up my areas through monitoring methotrexate and an Humira injection every 2 weeks. However, now I am experiencing burning sensation in my lower extremities along with weakness. I have an appt with a rheumatologist next week, who hopefully can get me straightened out. Any suggestions? Thanks, Doris
Guest guest
I think some of us have had burning due to Enbrel or Humira. I myself was just hospitalized with extreme weakness and sensations in my legs. You might want to call your Rheumy and ask if he/she thinks you should discontinue the Humira until you are seen.....just in case. I hesitate to say anything to you because I feel it is very important for us to take caution and not attempt to " diagnose " each other. Sounds so familiar to me though. Can you go to a drug store and check your blood pressure to see if it's lower than usual? This seems to be what caused my weakness and then dizziness when I stand up. What caused the blood pressure drop is unanswered at this point but the Enbrel I was on is suspected so I am off of that and will be starting a new IV medication approved for RA called Orencia as soon as we determine that my Blood pressure medication is well established and not going to cause problems. For the record, I still think that Enbrel and Humira are fabulous drugs who have helped many people get their lives back. I had two amazing months or normalacy on Enbrel. It just did not work out for me in the long run. One of the problems with these drugs can be the getting on it and off of it as infections occur. This shocks our bodies and it seems to be better to stay on it if you can rather than get off of it with every little sniffle. It's all pretty tricky but most things are that effect your life so greatly. I hope this helped you some. Feel free to contact me with more questions if you have them. I'd like to wekcome you to the group but I'm sorry you had need to find us. This group has been my rock. Hoping that you are able to find solace here as well. -Betz > > Hi, > I am new to this group. Guest guest
Welcome, Doris. Your post caught my eye because you mention leg weakness with Humira. My rheumy is considering adding Humira to my mix of meds and just this a.m. gave me some literature on it to read. I notice that weakness in the legs is one possible side effect of Humira indicating a possible effect on the nervous system. I wouldn't panic, but I would let my rheumy or derm know about this development right away. Probably not serious, but always best to err on the side of caution. best regards, sherry z > > Hi, > I am new to this group.
