Guest guest
Hi, I'm 39 yr old man. I've had 'dandruff' since I can remember. I've had a herniated disc (L4-L5) for 10 years and it hurts daily. I can mostly manage that pain with hot and cold treatments. I've also had anxiety and depression for 18 years which has been under control for the past 10. My hands and wrists began to hurt March/April of this year. First it was the joint where the fingers join the hand of my ring and middle finger of each hand (symmetrical). That pain stopped but now my hands are always tired and ache all over. My wrists hurt in different places. If I squeeze all of the knuckles on my hand, one or two hurt but not much. I've been taking a NASID called Lodine that I had on hand for my back. It used to help the hands but it's not working so well now. I saw the Rhumey 2 weeks ago and he suspects PA. He did blood work and my RA factor was negative. I'm not sure about the other test results yet. X-ray's and a bone scan show no damage. He says I'm lucky I caught it early. I go back on October 22nd. I also have pain in my foot but the foot specialist I went to thinks this is an irritated nerve between my toes and not PA. He would like to operate on this. I'm not doing that yet. I'm seeing a PT with inserts for my shoes to try and resolve this problem without going under the knife. I started taking an anti-depressant about a month ago that gave me headaches. I quit the med but my head hurts all the time now. I'm just finishing a course of anti biotics which haven't stopped the pain. Decongestants and anti-histamines don't help it either. I think I'll go back to the Dr. tomorrow to check this out. Could this headache be a result of PA? Does it sound like I have PA? My hands seem to hurt more all the time. It has me wondering what is next and how far this will go. Is it better to put up with some pain or take something like MTX? I've taken more medicine in the past month, than I've taken in 5 years even with a back problem. I've been lurking here for a week or so. I feel a bit guilty as many people posting here have problems much worse than mine. Thanks for reading, Harry
