Guest guest
Alyce, You should look into computer programs like Via Voice or dragan dictate... It is a more hands free approach to using the computer. Jude

Guest guest
Yes-Via Voice is a good program to install, we have it since my boy friend has low vision and it helps immensely. It is a helpful tool for anyone with a disability who has difficulty using the keyboard.
Guest guest
Alyce, yes there is such a devise. Have her contact her closest Independent Living Center, or Center for Disabilities, and/or computer techs for the disabled, and they will be more than glad to help her out. Guest guest
Alyce, I forwarded your message to a colleague of mine at work who is a wheelchair user and also our resident computer geek, he probably knows exactly what you can find. One place that I know of is: CHIP: Alternative keyboards http://www.wolfe.net/~dr_bill/mobaltin.html Other more general disability related computer info can be found at : http://www.closingthegap.com/ http://weber.u.washington.edu/~doit/ Lourash Central Illinois Center for Independent Living alourash@... http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Canopy/7863 DisABILITY LINKS http://www.geocities.com/RainForest/Canopy/7863/Dis-Links.html >>My sister-in-law, an occupational therapist, is looking for a device that >>would help a person with MS use a computer - she wondered if there was a >>sipper-straw kind of thing available. >>Alyce :-)
Guest guest
I use a cabinet mounted opener up to ten times a day. It has been wonderful. I cannot even twist off water bottle caps. I also use cheap pool noodles to hold on to and do all types of moving in the pool. My dust pans that have the upright handle are another absolute necessity. I cannot bend over to use a dust pan. What kinds of daily life saving or comfort promoting adaptive devices has everybody found to use?
Guest guest
You have an opener that can open water bottles? what is it called, or who makes it? I definitely need one of those, I am sick of making meal choices based on what I can open that day! I would love more info on this device! I have a little vacuum that has a wall mount charger. I had the charger put up at elbow height for taking it down / putting it up that is the most comfortable height. it weighs 5 LBS or less and can be used on all floors (it's the Eureka quick up vacuum) I don't sweep any more I just use this! on carpets it works for little messes but you still have to whip out the " real vacuum " once in a while to maintain the life of your carpets. its really great, without it my floors would be so gross! I keep Clorox wipes in the bathrooms and kitchen so instead of having like a big cleaning day I can just use the wipes to clean a little here and there to maintain the cleanliness levels, this works on everything from the mirror to the floors. a heavy cleaning is needed less often this way! (except for they don't work on the tub!). also. these are good to have because rags and sponges need to be squeezed or wrung out and some days that just isn't possible without screaming! I put dish soap in a hand soap dispenser so I don't have to pick up that big bottle every day and squeeze it, I just pump it out onto the dish sponge or scrub brush. (this has been one of the best things I have done, its such a little thing but it made a huge difference) if I think of more I will share again! -shel
