Guest guest
My son is 12 weeks & has a 100.5 fever - should I worry? I have not yet tested pos. for Lyme, just have possible symptoms. He is nursing & I don't know what to look for in a newborn as far as LD. I started amoxicillin 3 or 4 days ago, would abx affect his temp? Guest guest
As a rule, most pediatricians advise you to phone the office if any infant under 6 months runs a fever of 100.5 or higher...so if I were you Id phone...even if they say to simply watch him for symptoms at least they will have been notified...then if he develops symptoms needing attention ( and we hope he wont), they will immediately see him Also are you taking the amoxil or him?? If its you, does the pediatrician know you are nursing while on antibiotics?? if not, they should be told... With my 3 kids, I generally ignored temps unless very high, and went more on behavior...what was normal for them...like more cranky or irritable, obvious signs of pain, etc. But again thats with assumably well kids. Perhaps Dr ' office can help you with a list of Lyme related symptoms that occur with infants??? Its harder as they obviously cant tell you if they have a headache! or if theyre just cranky due to gas from something the nursing Mom ate. If you do some of your own research, you should realize that in many articles " newborn " is often up to 3 months, then infancy varies from 3 to 9 and up to 12 months, then " toddler " , etc. This is somewhat arbitrary except for the newborn period as many things can be different during the first few months. So dont panic if you see anything that pertains to a " newborn " that looks alarming...Doctors and scientists often err on the side of caution with very young babies. Hope that this is simply one of those " gray hair moments " that when you look back, was really only minor. Finette [ ] What to Look for in a Newborn?
