[ ] effective letters to Ct med board to support Dr

Hi all

this is just my own opinion based upon the little ( and horrid) experiences Ive

had with the NY and NJ boards due to their own witchhunts.

What Ive found is that humanitarian pleas, emotional pleas and such are

discarded, ignored and frankly I cant blame them. The purpose of these medical

boards are to insure a? safe, ethical " standard of care " . They cannot and do not

allow themselves to let in thoughts of whether the doctor charged is a " nice

guy " or has " helped many " . Due to time, the secretaries, associates etc scan

letters and will discard those without " merit " . very few are put into the

record. fewer still are used to make their final decisions.

Now having said this, I feel the need to point out IMO what is the CRUX here and

MUST be written in all letters:

1. the STANDARD OF CARE FOR LYME is NOT by any means decided. There are NO

definitive tests to measure an " endpoint of treatment " . MANY studies showing

that indeed continued long term treatments are helpful and if/when withheld

patients DO get worse/die--therefore to say that Dr didnt follow an

" acceptable standard of care " is ridiculous.

?????????? 2.There are MANY very well done scientific and puiblished studies to

support more than ONE accepted standard of care ( point out a few...use the

ILADS website to copy and paste article titles and randomly choose so we all

dont use the same first 5)

???????????3. Dr is being crucified based upon them dismissing a very

VALID standard of care. period. ( the mention of " long distance " diagnosis is a

smoke screen IMHO..MANY Drs offer medical advice long distance based upon chart

notes and requests of other Drs--common practice)

?????????? This disregard for other valid standards of care in addition to

requiring " positive blood results " is what will sink us all!!

?????????? 4. the obvious siding with the IDS and Amer Peds Assoc and now

recently the Amer Neuro Assoc to limit dx, care etc to what the IDS has dictated

despite it being based on faulty premises.( my own, now fired, neuro who I LOVED

for the past 3 yrs is now quoting IDS and his Nuero Assoc rhetoric of how I

cannot possibly have chronic Lyme sx helped by more abx...the same man who has

SEEN with his own eyes the neuro sx that worsen when I am off abx!!!--of course

he cant say then WHAT else can explain this...nor can he admit that there is NO

DSM for " drug seeking " for abx!!!

???????? 5. Pointing out the many of us doing worse without long term abx,

better with it and that there is NO drug seeking for abx, no " addiction " and

that the fact that not all abx help...for me for example the combo of mino plus

suprax seems to do it..yet other similar drugs like doxy and ceftin do NOT

help!!!? The IDS would love to ignore this.

?????? 6. point out WHO/WHAT are behind this...if we can taint the

sources...i.e. IF any of us have proof solid about NAMES of the Drs who

" convinced " these parents to report Dr ...and if they " happen to be " ID

guys...or Yalies, etc...lets get as direct and pointed as they. Then also add

those Drs ( without names unless we get permission) of those who agree with Dr

' actions. Perhaps read the hearing notes and rename those who testified on

his behalf, mention their standing in the medical communit etc. In the least

this may bring doubts of the decision..after all how can they also disparage

other good Drs??

When the CT atty General filed a suit against the IDS " we " suspected thered be a

declaration of all out war for those ID people to " save face " , dig their heels

in but I for one did not expect them to use DR and custody cases...theyve

sunk to a new low.

BUT this must show us all just how serious this is...IF the ID people had a

strong enough case and really ( medically, scientifically) had proof of the non

existence of " chronic Lyme " etc would they have to stoop so low??? scary stuff

going on indeed.

Anyway this is just one woman's opinion BUT if we want any of the medical boards

to READ let alone HEED what we have to say we must keep it SHORT and to the

point of STANDARD of CARE simply because that is how they do things. When

lawyers provide notes and briefs to defend someone they direct the words to be

strictly about and refuting the charges. again its only my opinion but if we do

the same...keep hammering about why the charges against Dr ?cant stand, in

a logical way, we have a better chance than to keep it to the " but your honor

he is such a nice caring guy " approach.

Be well

Finette
