I am on Remicade. I had complete relief from my skin symptoms by my third

treatment. I have now had 6 treatments (i think) and have noticed the

inflammation is gone from my toe joints that are most severely affected by the

PA. They are still deformed looking, but they don't hurt!

I was just wondering what medication you are taking. Is it Remicade.

I have had two treatments and would like to know for those who are on

Remicade how many treatments it took to feel a difference.

Hi Janet,

No, I haven't tried Remicade yet. I've been taking

Plaquenil since June. Initially the dosage was 400 mg

(200 x 2 times a day), but it began to irritate my

stomach (I have GERD), so we cut to once a day. I had

a lot of inflammation, and Plaquenil seems to be

really helping me. Since diagnosis four years ago I've

tries Sulfasalazine, Enbrel and Humira. We also added

Mobic twice a day in early August. I think the

combination of those two have worked really well for

me, I'm feeling better than I have in years :)

Since I'm feeling better, I've been better able to

focus on some other areas of my life. I'm avoiding

foods with flour and sugar (diabetes in the family),

and cutting fats, and have shed 6 pounds, as I'm also

able to be more active. I'm back to my evening routine

of stretching, yoga and weight lifting, up to an hour

now every evening. I even walked three blocks to and

from a store without collapsing on the sidewalk!

Another change I've made this year was reducing my

work load to 25 hours/week, or only 5 hours a day

(8:30 - 2:00) so I can rest in the afternoons and have

the energy to fix dinner for my family and do some

work around the house and yard.

Overall, I'm feeling better than I have in years,

despite a small flare-up of Sjogrens (pain and

swelling in my parotid glands), and some numbness and

tingling in my feet and lower legs. I've been having

only occasional back, neck and foot pain and have been

able to reduce my intake of pain meds. This combo of

meds seems to be working well right now for me, and I

would love for it to continue this way.

I hope y'all can be as fortunate as I have been in

finally finding somethin that works (for now)!

warm blessings,

jane
