Guest guest
My rheumy did agree to the pneumonia vaccine, but I obviously wouldn't want it if it was live However Ive done a Google: here's a quote The pneumo shot is an inactivated (killedvirus) vaccine that contains protectionagainst 23 types of streptococcuspneumoniae bacteria. • Because the vaccine does not contain " live " germs, it cannot cause pneumococcaldisease well what does everyone think? max
Guest guest
Having had walking pneumonia in the past, I did get a pneumonia vaccine prior to getting onto Enbrel, and I will " renew " my vaccine when it is time (good for 5 years.) Guest guest
I took the pneumonia vaccine and the flu shot, and I didn't get sick. My family doctor told me I should take the vaccine, it wouldn't hurt me, that the vaccines are recommended for people with low or no immune system. I'm nursing assistance and I also take a TB test every year, which is a dead virus and not had a bad reaction to it. I have had psoriatic arthritis since 1994, and now I have muscle spasm and half to take muscle relaxers, and I also take Enbrel injection once a week so I can work, and walk. I would say it would depend on the individual if you have complications, but the immune system I don't think would have any thing with the out come. Guest guest
I just renewed my pneumonia vaccine and my rheumy was the one that gave it to me. He thought it was very important for me to have.

Guest guest
I think it's mostly given to senior citizens - or it's new - or both. nn > > > Has anyone vaccinated their kids with the pneumonia vaccine? It's not required and it wasn't suggested to me by a doctor. But when I asked our pediatrician about it she said it " couldn't hurt " since is on a biologic and methotrexate, and a small amount of prednisone. Would appreciate knowing if others have chosen to have their JIA kids get this vaccine. Thanks much. > > > > nn (, 9, systemic) > > > > > > >
