Guest guest
Hi Group, I've really gotten alot of information and support from reading all of your heart-felt posts. My prayers and thoughts are with all of you. Just a word about Lyrica; Although I'm not a candidate for this therapy, it has worked wonders for my mother who suffers from severe sciatica. It is also a specific for diabetic neuropaty. She has had no side effects, and it has been a real miracle for her. She has had to increase her dosage over time, but I'm amazed at the difference it has made in the quality of her life. Knowledge is power, and the fact that we can share treatment options is awesome. I am pretty much confined to Plaquenil due to a very severe bout of pancytopenia several years ago. My Bone marrow shut down for no apparant reason...and I was on my way to Ireland! The amazing thing is, the plane developed engine problems, and had to turn back to the states. That saved my life, as I started to hemorrhage severly almost as soon as we landed. This was my miracle. I have just been diagnosed with PA, but my rheumy feels I've had this for quite awhile. I'm 56, and have had my right knee replaced twice, and getting ready to do it again. I do get depressed about the pain, and am trying to find meds that will work with my other medical problems..I have epilepsy, so many of the brain drugs won't work for me. Just knowing the diagnosis has helped, and I am hopeful that with the help of my docs, a medical regime that will fit with me will be found. Thank you for being so caring, kind, and supportive of each other. Blessings, Marjorie Mullen String: Dear , I read your email and the follow up from Marti. I think she is right and it sounds like you really need a good pain management doctor. It can make the difference between having a life and enjoying your life. I was a lot like you. My pain totally controlled me. I just recently wrote an email to another member who was venting, you might have read it. But basically the pain ruled my life day and night. When I finally broke down and went into pain management I was as low as a person could get. The great thing was pain management changed my life. Instead of needing more pills all the time, I found that once I got my pain under control, I needed less pain medication all the time. I keep trying all the new medications my doctor wants me to try. I go over the side effects with him, and sometimes I discuss it with my family doctor first, but normally I give just about anything a try. Recently I went on Lyrica, which has cut my pain in half again. For the first in ages, I actually forgot to even take my regularly scheduled pain medication. I'm on a time-released form of pain medication, and I am finding I need less and less. The key is just not giving up. It sounds like you have gone through so much, and you are losing hope. You just need someone pulling for you and a good doctor willing to help you. Don't give up and please check out the pain doctors in your area. It might be your answer too. I hope it is and you find some relief. I'll be thinking of you, just like all the other members who have answered your emails. Take care and don't give up.
