Guest guest
a, I don’t mean to but in here, but I’m in the same situation that is, being self employed. The problem is and we simply own a small insurance office, we have searched all of Florida and haven't been able to find any plan that won’t put a rider on existing conditions for the 1st year. As my husband and I have diabetes, heart problems, and I have PA and RA so no one basically wants us, and that’s to put it mildly. I’ve been looking for something else for years and another problem we have in Florida is Blue Cross is about the only company that has most the doctors in their plan. Most of the smaller plans restrict who you can go to and won’t cover any of our existing doctors. I’m not sure if it is different in other states, but it’s been a nightmare here. Since I haven't been able to physically go into work in over 5 y ears I should have gone on disability much earlier, but I held off hoping I would get better and I didn’t want to mess anything up on our current health plan. You are only covered if you have a certain amount of employees on the plan and our business goes from 3 employees to over 6 at times, so sometimes dropping me off the plan could force us out of compliance with Blue Cross and their rules. It’s just been a real nightmare to say the least. Hopefully, will find something like you suggested. Take care, Fran in Florida
