Guest guest
Hi folks There are always messages from members hoping that their flare is due to some intervention they can avoid - I'm here to say sometimes flares are an unavoidable part and parcel of this disease, and now it's my turn.... 2 weeks ago I had a presumed ganglion cyst removed from my right wrist as it was pressing on nerves and bone and causing all kinds of ruckus. Long story short things were better for 7-10 days after the surgery, then that wrist joint started hurting, then the elbow, then the other wrist, then my ankles... you get the picture - fun fun fun. This is depite weekly MTX and daily prednisone. As it turns out the pathology report came back nodular tenosynovitis with mixed areas of acute and chronic inflammation, not a ganglion cyst at all. Would I have it done again - yes, it was a definite problem that had to be taken care of. Sometimes life and our immune systems collude to cause us problems. We have to remember it's not our fault, and although we all desparetely hope for a permanent remission, we often get reminders that we have to take extra care of our bones... Countdown - hopefully 6 weeks to starting Enbrel....
